"The cabin of a small yacht is truly a wonderful thing; not only will it shelter you from a tempest, but from the other troubles in life, it is a safe retreat."--L. Francis Herreshoff

When the course is laid and the anchor's weighed

A sailor's blood begins racing

With our hearts unbound and our flag unfurled

We're under way and off to see the world

Under way and off to see the world

I'm immeasurably proud of my good friend Jackie. She also makes angels from glass she has fossicked at the margins of the river.

Reflections from the early morning sun on San Francisco Bay

Had a chance to go sailing a couple of times recently. Great fun!

8 x 24 cm watercolour from my serie "Words".Year 2018.

The thrill of racing. My restoration and digital hand colorization of Leif Wikström´s image from the 1974 Emsalö Runt regatta in the Porvoo (Borgå) archipelago (southern Finland). The B&W picture is in the Finnish Heritage Agency archive (finna.fi).

The race has been organized since 1909 and is thus one of the oldest sailing events in Finland.

The name and type of the boat are not mentioned. If one looks closely, there is a name on the hull which I read as Seej.. Any additional information is welcome.

Seems to be the Folkboat L-266 built in 1972 and still registred in Finland (it seems)

Sailing into Helsinki harbour

2 boats returning to the marina in Port Douglas, Australia

Weekly Alphabet Group (S)

also sails, sailors, sailboats

It looked like a Canadian Sailing team was practicing quite a way out from Clearwater Beach. In this shot, the 2 boats with the blue sails were headed South, and the other 2 were headed North, and they passed each other closely

Thank you so much for the views and faves--it is really appreciated !! :)

Happy 4th!

Blend of several exposures including few long exposures with ND3 filter on.

Sunset Solent sailing during the Golden Hour.

With gently failing light this yacht was making progress in the Solent at a quiet and leisurely pace.

I wanted to be on board so badly.
