On this immense sandbank between the Dutch Wadden islands of Texel and Vlieland is this drowning house where shipwrecked people can have a safe haven.
What? All these boxes for me? I swear I didn't spent a penny these days. 😂❤️

Little owl in a hollow tree . This is his location to store the mice he caught to save them for later. And he could watch over his territory from here

Those of you that saw yesterday’s photo knew that the CarTen was the plan for my day yesterday.
Just over 8 hours of cycling to do 111 Miles got me from my home in Cardiff to the starting point in Cardiff city centre to Tenby. It was a fabulous experience and I saw swathes of South Wales that I have never seen before, the rural rugged beauty of the countryside was quite breathtaking.
It was also an interesting experience as there were miles done on fairly major roads which did create a bit of a stir for cars and vehicles, interestingly though there was not the usual disgruntled tooting from the cars that one gets when out alone or as a small group. It did raise the thought that if 2500 ( the number of people that took part yesterday) people were to regularly use the roads not only would there be less resistance to cycling but congestion would be less of a problem. I do appreciate that we currently don’t have the infrastructure in place to allow this to happen and in Wales especially we get weeks of rain which I’m sure would deter all but the most hardy cyclist from using this as a mode of transport. Please don’t think that I’m trying to be contentious either , as it was only a thought whilst I was trying to get up the next hill!
Tenby as I mentioned was the finishing point and there was quite a welcome awaiting all that finished. Hubby was there to greet me and the drive me home. The finishing point did feel like a safe haven just as the little port if for these boats.
Thanks for stopping.

The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going.
Ralph Waldo Emesron.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882), who went by his middle name Waldo, was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society, and he disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States.
Emerson gradually moved away from the religious and social beliefs of his contemporaries, formulating and expressing the philosophy of transcendentalism in his 1836 essay "Nature". Following this work, he gave a speech entitled "The American Scholar" in 1837, which Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. considered to be America's "intellectual Declaration of Independence."

A young deer rests in the backyard on a hot day, his sister nearby. Haven't seen the mother in a few weeks. They will always be welcome here.

Standing on the platform, watching you go
You said, "I wanna see the world", and I said, "Go"

Another from our walk, yesterday. The view is from the lower deck of the East pier extension, lit by the afternoon sun. I did something similar at sunrise, on the west side and called it "Moving the Goalposts!" back in 2016. I love the patterns, lines and curves along with the detail of the eroded timbers.
When you need some space this is the place to go. When you need an escape, when you need to think, when you need to run to the hills, when you need to be alone, go here. When your mind and body is numb to the cold, turn into the wind, feel the rain on your face, savour the buffeting wind and look to the sky. Admire the heavy clouds, the light and the grey, the heavens above. Taste the salty spray on your lips, feel the sand under your feet, the marron grass tickle your shins, feel your ankles jarring on the black rocks. Cry, laugh, smile, shout at the wind, you can let all your emotions go here. It can be heaven, or it can be hellish, especially if you are trapped. You can be cut off from reality. Or twice a day you can be released to walk back across shiny sand to normality, to life again. I find I always feel better after a trip to Llanddwyn. I often find I am alone there. It cleanses my soul, removes stresses and helps me to carry on. And confront the challenges of life yet again. Llanddwyn: rest my soul!
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all, is all around
Just like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Just like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on, silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All of your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you ever need a friend
Look around I'm sailing right behind
Just like a bridge over troubled water
I'll be there to lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

With the WNYP effectively removing all of their M636’s from service 637 and 638 are still “active” but haven’t been used in months), the Delaware Lackawanna is the last place (that I can think of) to actively run six axle Alcos.
Being able to work with and run the six axles at the WNYP has been an absolute treat, something I never thought I’d be able to do, knowing that they would eventually be phased out. However things worked out. One thing I haven’t been able to experience in quite some time is watching these run from outside the cab.
To me, most of the time at work all I hear is noise, accented with a turbo, nothing like the “symphony” you’d hear with an EMD. It’s a noise I’ve become accustomed to, and a noise my inner child appreciates, because turbo. But that wall of noise I’ve become so used to in the cab is much, much more outside the cab.
I guess the point of this long drawn out story (I never do these kind of things) is that it’s nice to be able to sit back, and appreciate things from the other side. I think that should be the case with any locomotive, they are truly fascinating pieces of machinery no matter how common, or in this case, rare they are.
