One of the highlights of the Vancouver Powell Street Festival 2011 is the Omikoshi, a portable shrine or a lavishly-decorated miniature temple that sits on two poles and is being carried around the festival ground. The carriers chant ‘wa shai! wa shai!’ throughout the ‘parade’ and are believed to be possessed by the divine spirit. They rock the portable shrine vigorously and the greater the jolt and the more fortune is said to pass on to all those around them.

After the Omikoshi, the festivities throughout the next two days will be filled with traditional Japanese dances (Ryu), laido and Karate demo, bonsai, Ikebana (flower-arranging), Taiko drumming, koto playing, Sa-do (tea ceremony), J-Pop group The Islands and more.

LOUD has toured Canada, U.S. and Europe. Their particular brand of music has been described as ‘soundtrack to the world breathing and the soul stirring.’ In this video here, Eileen’s sister Mariko Kage joined them on stage and presented a choreography that is a mix of the Aikido discipline and contemporary dance.

Two traditional Japanese dance groups - Otowa-Ryu & Nishikawa-Ryu performed on July 30, 2011. Women dressed in kimonos presented elaborate Nihon Buyo classical choreographed dance moves steeped in the traditional kabuki Theatre of the Edo period. Otowa-Ryu also incorporates Shin-buyo (new Japanese dances) styles.

Off site performances including exhibits and demos at the nearby FireHall Theatre, Vancouver Japanese Language School, Buddhist Temple and other places. Details: www.powellstreetfestival.com/

Figure Street Fighter SOTA Ryu

HAIKOU- HAINAN ISLAND-CHINA- So Yeon Ryu of Korea in action, Friday, March 13, 2015, on day two of the World Ladies Championship at the Blackstone Course, Mission Hills Golf Resort, Haikou, Hainan Island, China. Picture by Paul Lakatos/Mission Hills.

He's not just a street fighter, he's a street lover, too.

RZ paper usage....

Again, SK is gifted for sure.

I thought it would be a great idea to take my Ryu figure from the Street Fighter game and involve him in some of my experiment with bokeh. Apparently i got a awesome photo.

Stonkin previews figure Ryu.

I really like what Sota done with the face this time round on all three characters.

I've been testing my new 150w bulbs in my bedroom as well as using my soft snap setting on my camera.

My haul yesterday, Round 1 of Street Fighter toys by NECA. Highly poseable and comes with 2 extra hands. Ryu has 35 points of articulation too, like Ken. He's simply awesome, aside from that horrible facial expression.

Lloyd is a Migidoll Ryu and he's now mine *-*

The games hero, Ryu with Round 1 packaging paper. I was very pleased with how this photograph turned out and really like the pose.

LCW nd filter used (this was done even when the room was flooded was light. Technically you could do it without the nd filter in a dark room.

At long last Alex has eyes that fit him and it only took 12mm... yes my SD boy takes the same size eyes as an Unoa... lol
