In this month Invader invaded the 78th city which was in Dijon where he put 6 new invaders (worth in total 230 points) on the wall. This one was the most recent invader when I captured and flashed it.
Located just a few steps from Place de la République.

Rue de la Fontaine | Route Nationale 7 28/06/2015 13h21
The setting of the old route nationale N7 is still visible here in the extension of this street (Rue de la Fontaine, D39) through the center of the village Flassans-sur-Issole. The route nationale has been bypassed a long time ago as seen in the background.

Roadtrip [7] 28/06/2015
After dropping off Sam and Jacques at the MP2 section of Marignane we had 225 kilometers on the planning for today. A roadtrip to the East to join in the Route Napoléon the next day. Via autoroutes A55 to Marseille and A50 to La Ciotat (this plan was added later to see a space invader on the beach). From Brignoles and Le Luc around 70 kilometers on the good old Route Nationale N7 and over the autoroute A8 to Grasse. From Grasse the Route Napoléon (D6085) to Saint-Valliers-de-Thierry.
We left Carry-le-Rouet at 08h54, dropped off Sam and Jacques between 09h15 and 09h35 and spent a little hour in La Ciotat between 11h00 and 12h00. We arrived at hôtel "Le Relais Impérial" at 17h00 after driving 324 kilometers. The extra 100 kilometers had to do with wrong turns after leaving the airport of Marignane (A55), Marseille center and missing an exit on the A8 which resulted in a surprise visit to the city of Grasse. Also La Ciotat was not on the original schedule and was roughly 50 kilometers extra driving.
Of the 324 kilometers driven was 297 kilometers driven by Stewart, 27 kilometers by me.

I came across this UP engine pulling a Metra one east into Barrington late this morning. I've seen UP retrieve Metra coaches and bring them back through this area but never a locomotive. The location is a private crossing a half mile west of Hart Road.
Hart Road will be closed for most of the summer as the grade crossing and intersection with Rt. 14 are rebuilt to try to eliminate the long traffic backups on northbound Hart Road during the afternoon and evening rush hour, with it going from two to four lanes. UP is putting in new overhead gantry type signals to replace the ones there today. It will cause traffic headaches as Hart Road is used as a bypass around congested downtown Barrington and Rt. 59.

Reason: As a car owner, there comes a time when you have to decide whether to keep your car that you have so many memories of and drive it to the end or go to the showroom and see if there is something else, something newer, something more contemporary. After a service in October 2024, the air conditioning that had just been repaired did not work and I was promised some big expenses for the next service.
And then this 2023 Renault Clio came my way...
Renault Clio: The Renault Clio is a compact economy car produced by French automobile manufacturer Renault. It was launched in 1990, and entered its fifth generation in 2019. The Clio has had substantial critical and commercial success, being consistently one of Europe's top-selling cars since its launch, and it is largely credited with restoring Renault's reputation and stature after a difficult second half of the 1980s. The Clio is one of only two cars, the other being the Volkswagen Golf, to have been voted European Car of the Year twice, in 1991 and 2006.
The Clio was introduced in 1990 as the successor to the Renault 5.
The fifth generation model was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It was originally planned to be unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

It took me a while to figure out how to replace the front parking light on my 2002 Nissan Frontier. Once I figured it out I thought I'd share the process here on Flickr. This will also work for other Nissan models using the same light unit.
There is a plastic clip on the lower outside of the unit. This separates with a little pulling. This was the part I got hung up on. You can't see this until you pull it apart and I didn't see any mention of this in my Haynes manual or anywhere online. Once loose the unit will slide out of the lower inside clip on the other side. Rotating it just the right way you can now pull it away from the body.
Once the unit is separated from the body you now have access to the headlight, parking light and running light. Just twist and pull out the lights.
When replacing the unit I snapped the lower left clip into place, I put a little WD40 on the lower right side plastic clip and snapped it back into place. I had a little trouble positioning the unit but eventually got everything lined up at the right angles and slid it into place.

Driving in the direction of Sénas on our way to Gordes along Mallemort and its commune Pont Royal. All part of the old Nationale 7 which seems to be still perfectly intact here.
Route Nationale 7
The Route nationale 7, or RN 7, is a trunk road (nationale) in France between Paris and the border with Italy. It was also known as Route des vacances (Vacation Road), Route bleue (Blue Road), and — sarcastically, during the annual rush to the Mediterranean beaches — the Route de la mort (Road of Death).
The Romans under Marcus Agrippa established a network of roads in 20 AD radiating from the then capital of the Gauls at Lugdunum (Lyon), known collectively as Via Agrippa. From Lugdunum the road north passed towards Lutèce (Paris) following roughly the route of current RN 6, and southward towards Rome, skirting the Rhone and passing through Arausio (Orange) and following the edge of the Mediterranean, like the current RN 7.
In the 15th century, with the creation of the royal post by Louis XI, a coherent network of roads was set up. The routes from Paris to Lyon pass through Moulins (route du Bourbonnais) or Dijon (route de Bourgogne). In the next century the first regular use of the road is made and elms were planted along the ways for shade and to mark the route. At that time (1553) the Le Guide des chemins de France ("Guide to the roads of France"), by the royal printer Robert Estienne, the ancestor of all the modern guidebooks, was published.

Route des Vignerons [D96] 03/07/2014 15h36
Driving through La Destrousse to Auriol on the good old Route Nationale 96. Here this road is called the Route des Vignerols but some kilometers further down -after the village La Destrousse itself- this D96 is still called Route Nationale 96 to keep the old name in remembrance.

I include this stereogram here, not so much for the engine’s details, as for the details that make up the Fad T. Those touches were almost all derived from Model T accoutrements, such as running lights and braces on the large, flat windshield. Sometimes the windshield was hinged in the middle, so it could be bent. Many other details were invented by Norm Grabowski in his Kookie Car, which had a profound influence on every Model T hot rod that followed.
Converting an Album to a Slide Show on the Apple iPhone
1.Open the Goodguys 2018 Album. Hold the phone in the upright position, with the close button at the bottom.
2.Select the first picture in the album.
3.Tap the “Air Play” icon in the lower left corner.
4.Select the Slide Show “play arrow.“ The first time you do this, you will want to double tap the icon to set parameters for the slide show—i.e. music or not, etc. The type of slide show is “push” for best viewing as stereo pairs.
5.Rotate the phone to horizontal position and drop into Google Cardboard.
Above are directions for converting my album of stereo pairs into a slide show.
For some people, bringing the images into focus using Google Cardboard will be an issue. In those cases, I recommend using a regular VR headset. They are not expensive, and the ones I’ve seen and used have adjustable focus.

Aire de Bouyssou | [D840] 18/06/2015 12h34
For some reason aires (or rest areas or road side parkings) are almost never a good place for photos. You drive through a beautiful region with scenic vistas and paradisiacal landscapes and you are fortunate to find an aire to park to take some photos it is most of the time very disappointing. Same here along the D840. Even Mister Bloomingdales didn't like the view as there was no view at all.
We stayed here a couple of minuts to continue the roadtrip with some beautiful photo opportunities while driving.
Roadtrip Day 3 18/06/2015
We left Rocamadour at 11h35 and after visiting a view point to see Rocamadour from a distance we went Eastbound via Gramat, Figeac, Capdenac, Décazeville and Rodez. After a McLunch we drove via Ségur to our final destination for this day; Millau where we arrived at 16h38 after driving 186 kilometers (planning was 180 kilometers).
