Macro Mondays : Corner.

Dear friends, for the theme of this week I decided to experiment by using a tilt-shift adapter. I tilted the focal plane to follow the cubes and, with the shift movement, I tried to correct a bit the perspective distortion.

The final effect is a bit weird, but I found it funny, therefore I decided to share it.

I hope that you will like the result. Have a nice Friday! 🙋‍♂️

Happy New Year and HMM!

I was so bored playing small cubes (piece of cake), wanted something challenging so I got my self a bigger cubes. These are 6x6 and 7x7 V-cubes. It was hard to find in US that time so it has to ship from Greece but this days you can find this more on eBay. I must say it’s a really remarkable puzzle for all age. Quality is unbelievable. So far I have solved these puzzles a number of times. I can’t wait for 8 9 10 and 11 to come out, no matter what the price is it’s worth it, I’ll buy it all. Did anybody say I am a nut?

Rubik's cube is one toy I never mastered, I was given this, numeric, version by a "Friend" a good many years ago. It is one of those things that I hang on to knowing that it might come in handy for a photo ;-)

I just thought it looked really cool.

Today Danbo got his hands on the rubik cube. And ambitious as he is, he tried to solve it. Mini was totally fascinated from that game. But in the end Danbo gave up. It was just to challenging for him. And I must admit: For me, too. :D

At Maroubra there is a giant rubik's cube sitting on the beach. Apparently this used to simply be a giant block of concrete, until a couple of artists transformed it in the middle of the night.

Day 188 - How did that work again?

I got my rubic's cube out the other day and started playing with it again... but I kind of forgot how to solve it. That thing almost drove me nuts, because when I pick it up, I just can't put it down again.

52 Weeks Project

Since March this year I started to follow Streetart Frankey and hunt for his work...

Location: Vijzelgracht (metro entrance) corner Prinsengracht, Amsterdam center.

Coordinates: 52°36'19" N 4°89'14" E

Reason: Streetart Frankey is one of my favorite Dutch street artists at the moment. He is giving the city little often unremarkable surprises. Every week a photo with one of his recent works appears in the supplement to the newspaper Het Parool. A great opportunity to take a closer look at his work. Sometimes you have to search to find it and sometimes it is already gone.

Rubik's Cube: This Rubik's Cube popped up in the morning of 11/07/2020 in the Vijzelstraat and I immediately went to the scene to take a closer look. Frankey was inspired by Rubik Cube for this art object which is actually a fire hydrant cupboard.

The Rubik's Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. Originally called the Magic Cube, the puzzle was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp. in 1980 via businessman Tibor Laczi and Seven Towns founder Tom Kremer. Rubik's Cube won the 1980 German Game of the Year special award for Best Puzzle. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes had been sold worldwide, making it the world's top-selling puzzle game. It is widely considered to be the world's best-selling toy. More information about Rubik Cube: Wikipedia - Rubik Cube

Streetart Frankey: Street Art Frankey (pseudonym of Frank de Ruwe) is a Dutch artist who wants to positively influence the street scene with relatively small and often inconspicuous works of art.

He grew up in Nijmegen, father was an inventor at Philips Netherlands. He studied at Delft University of Technology (Industrial design). In daily life director of and working for design collective Natwerk. In Amsterdam, many of his works in the street art category can be found on buildings, streets and bridges, often in addition to existing building elements. He himself about his work;

"I want to push boundaries. Art has no boundaries, that's why I like it so much."

In 2019, a special page has been dedicated to his art in Het Parool for a number of years; first he took care of that section himself, later he had to leave that work to others because of busy work. A little later his work Eberhard van der Laan appeared above the entrance of Paradiso.

One of the works that inspired him is the Boomzagertje in the Leidsebosje, a work by an as yet unknown artist.

Can't remember how to solve the rubik's cube now, can you?

Giant Rubiks Cube

I know it was some time since my last shot, but I was pretty busy and only trying to keep up with commenting all your great photos.

But now I do have more free time (interesting things are happening) so hopefully I will be showing more of my photos.

So let's start: Almost two months ago I had my 24th birthday and got myself a present - original Rubik's Cube (25th anniversary edition). The colors in the mosaic are so vivid that I just had to take few shots of the Cube. So shots are taken and here you have some of the Cube's amazing colors.

Hope you like it

These are the collection of my cubes. They are from three different brands, Rubik’s, V-cubes and Eastsheen Cubes.
