The rowers at Kissing Point.
Putney - western Sydney.
The view looking south-west across the Parramatta River.
Across the river (on the left) is Rocky Point and 'Rivendell' - the Thomas Walker Convalescent Hospital, opened in 1893.
In the far distance is the suburb of Rhodes with, amongst other things, a giant Ikea store, lol.

It was a cool summer evening, but these rowers warmed up with the exertion and exhileration of propelling themselves along on the surface of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal. [P1040766_lr_2000]
Thank you all for the clicks, comments & faves.
Beautiful monday sunset with amazing orange - blue colors,, lake so calm, peaceful evening and lone rower.
There was a lot of activity on the water at Clevedon last night, a lone swimmer going back and forth, a swim club who set off around the pier and a group of rowers captured here.
Bicycles
Although I don’t ride a bike, well not at least for 40 odd years, there is something satisfying about a bike. It’s solid, reliable (mainly), an art form, it has a place in our society, an environmental champion, a pleasure and a serious competitor.
There aren’t many things in life that fulfil those criteria, there will always be those detractors but for me the bike is a hero.

This is the view of Lismore Lighthouse from Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull, Scotland built in 1833.
My appreciation and awe of lighthouses and those who once operated them has grown so much since listening to the "Get Sleepy" stories about lighthouse keepers, particularly Brave Women of the Lighthouses.
They really were remarkable people, often living very isolated lives, and facing many hardships for very little pay. For example, jobs included tending the light: filling the lamp with oil at sundown and again at midnight, trimming the wick, polishing carbon off the reflectors, and extinguishing the light at dawn.
One of the most famous was Ida Lewis She tended the Lime Rock Lighthouse in Rhode Island for 54 years, first with her parents starting at age 15 in 1857 and then as official keeper starting in 1879 until her death in 1911. She was a strong swimmer and rower (considered very unladylike) and rescued 18 people during her time as keeper, the last when she was 63. She was adored by the country and the bells of all the vessels in Newport Harbor tolled for her that night she died, and flags were at half-staff throughout Newport.
so I digressed alittle ;-)
