The #FlickrFriday #RoundShapes challenge
Earlier this month The Royal Air Force celebrated its centenary. The insignia its aircraft carry - The Roundel - appeared perfect for this week's theme, as were features of one of its iconic aircraft, The English Electric Lightning.
The Lightning was the RAF's supersonic interceptor in the 1970s, protecting the UK's and NATO's airspaces against probing missions from Soviet aircraft during the Cold War. It enlivened many an air display with its fast passes, aerobatics and the way it departed in a near vertical climb at up to 20,000 feet/minute until it disappeared into cobalt blue skies. Its maximum altitude was classified although it was thought to be 60,000 feet. It could reach Mach 1.7 at 36,000 feet, and later models could reach Mach 2.0. It was armed with two Firestreak heat seeking air to air missiles, enabling lightnings to engage aircraft at 6.4km range - very close by today's standards - and two cannon. Its weakness, especially with regard to the earlier models, was restricted range. RAF Lightnings were never used in anger but claimed one kill. In 1972 A Harrier pilot ejected over West Germany but his aircraft continued towards East German airspace, unmanned. A Lightning was tasked to shoot it down to prevent a diplomatic incident.
The aircraft pictured is found in The Imperial War Museum at Duxford, formerly a World War II airbase which hosted the first flight of spitfires. There is much to see there, meaning that the display hangars are crowded with legendary aircraft and drooling aircraft geeks - me included. Taking photos of complete aircraft is therefore difficult - there is always a bit of another aircraft intruding. I therefore decided to take close ups of an individual aircraft and leave it to you, dear fellow photog, to join the dots. Hopefuly it works. Photoshop's layer facilities were used to create the image.
Not a perfect shot technically but too precious to discard, as Guhonda the 30 year old silverback of the Sabyinyo gorilla group sits by the wall of Rwanda's Parc National des Volcans patiently waiting for his family to re-enter the reserve. It's yet another pose that strikes home just how human these animals are. Continued...
* This blog calls Guhonda fat... obviously they didn't see this shot
A little bit of primer paint on an old car. Just looked like a heart to me. And yeah, a tired pun as a title ;)
The Polar Panorama Effect - another way to process photo into uniques pieces of art. It takes a panoramic (or landscape) photo and uses the Polar Coordinates filter of Photoshop CS or The Gimp to create a circular image that seems to wrap the panorama around a planet.
On the day I went to downtown in search of my sold picture, I passed by False Creek. A man artist was stacking the stones and making these stone art on the river bank.
Many tourists stopped and took pictures of them. Science World is in the background.
Taken at False Creek downtown Vancouver.
I love city trotting.
Soxy being stubborn & yet strongly disliking the rain at the same time ^_^ & also bearing a rather likeness to another roundshaped grey cat in this shot...Totoro =^..^=

The Mandarin orange, also known as the mandarin or mandarine, is a small citrus tree (Citrus reticulata) with fruit resembling other oranges. Some sources indicate that the original Japanese orange imported into North America became known as the "Mandarin orange" as a result of hostilities during World War II. Other sources indicate that they gained their names from the bright orange robes worn by the mandarins, public officials in imperial China. Mandarin oranges are usually eaten plain or in fruit salads. Specifically reddish-orange mandarin cultivars can be marketed as tangerines, but this is not a botanical classification. When exporting began, local Mandarin oranges were named after their port of origin.
The tree is more drought-tolerant than the fruit. The mandarin is tender, and is damaged easily by cold. It can be grown in tropical and subtropical areas.
The mandarin orange is a variety of the orange family.
Citrus fruits are usually self-fertile (needing only a bee to move pollen within the same flower) or parthenocarpic (not needing pollination and therefore seedless, such as the satsuma).

It's a well worth of a sore neck process in this project. Undertaking 3 years to explore and documentation of the street lighting design. The distinct design of bulb fusion with various element to beautify it. At the same time creating a light source to light up the frontage or act as a guiding path to walk safely in the dim.
Human have the tendency to look at various direction without, hardly looking up unless necessary. During the photography process it was a wonderful insight to discover so many patterns, shapes and colors that are mounted on the ceiling, waiting to be discover. As time elapse, how many of these would survive when new design is featured in future.

Like haircuts, there is not one just right brow method that works for every person (unluckily). It’s fundamental to set off with a brow shape that fits the size and form of your face.

When #cutters start planning a #rough #diamond, their main #goal is to achieve the maximum #sparkle and #reflection possible. #Round Brilliant is one of the most sought-after #shapes because of the brilliance and fire that it reflects when exposed to light. The reason behind this is the 57 facets that form the shape. This diamond often carries #higher #price, because when #cutting a round brilliant from #rough, more of the rough diamond is wasted compared to #square and #semiround shapes. Another important benefit of round diamonds is that they appear #larger than other diamonds shapes of the same #weight. This additional feature further drives the popularity of #roundshape #diamonds.
