FRIDAY FAVE from 2024
The spectacular lilac and turquoise colours of the lilac-breasted roller stand out against a clear blue sky as the bird calls to its mate.
As with all images in my collection, this photograph is available as a fine art print, made to museum standards with pigment ink on archival rag paper.
There are numerous sections on the CNO&TP like this, where they are very similar to a roller coaster. With hills very close to one another.
The Pittsburg Sub is anything but flat. Here, KCSM 4756 leads a northbound out of Pittsburg bound for KC on the first day of Spring. Just like the train's journey, KCS is nearing the end of its journey as the CP acquisition looms.
This quick trip yesterday is also an end so to say for me personally. After 13 years of visiting Pittsburg (and the KCS) for work, I am on to a new journey that will make these visits to the KCS main much fewer and farther between.
But for this one quiet first day of Spring afternoon, it was nice to forget all of that and enjoy a KCS freight blast up the Pittsburg Sub bound for its hometown.
