In early June each year Portland celebrates the city's Rose Festival. We live just blocks from the parade route that is filled with overnight campers vying for a front row seat. This is a dancer from one of our numerous Sister Cities, Guadalajara, Mexico.

This grey seal pup at Horsey Gap beach seems to see the funny side of things. The UK is home to 40% of the world's Atlantic grey seal population. The breeding success at Horsey in the winter months is in no small part due to the work of the volunteers at the Friends of Horsey Seals. The pups suckle from their mothers for 18 to 21 days and remain on the beach for a further three weeks until they have moulted and can enter the sea.
Oliver and Simon have been doing this since we brought Simon home from Northshore Animal League six years ago this month. These two have so much fun together!

Technically the Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) is not a duck but belongs to the family of the Rallidae (rails, moorhens and coots) which in turn are a suborder of the cranes (Gruiformes).
They are very timid, usually really hard to spot and not at all common....
this little lady beetle hitched a ride home on me........lol..

I've been playing with images making them look like they were taken a long time in the past. I've mimicked the look of past methods, materials, etc and added degradation as if they had been neglacted. In this image I've taken the opposte approach, mimicking the degradation of a current print to make it look like we are viewing it 50 years from now (AD2075). The moral of the story? Keep good digital back-ups ROFL
