El castillo de Burgalimar (del árabe Burj al-Hamma, 'torre de los Baños'), es una fortaleza califal, construida en el siglo x sobre un pequeño cerro que domina la localidad de Baños de la Encina, situada en el norte de la provincia de Jaén (AndalucÃa, España).
Rodeado y flanqueado por una robusta y almenada muralla con catorce torres, más una decimoquinta torre del homenaje de factura cristiana, el castillo apenas ha sufrido daños, ya sean causados por el tiempo o la acción humana. Representa por tanto un ejemplo perfecto de fortaleza andalusà del siglo x, y constituye el conjunto fortificado mejor preservado de la época califal, al mismo tiempo que es uno de los castillos musulmanes mejor conservados de toda España. Su inestimable valor histórico y artÃstico es la razón por la que este castillo llegó a ser declarado como Monumento Nacional en 1931.1​os de la Encina (Jaén)

Cumbres and Toltec RR, Engine 489, K-36 Class, at the first crossing heading to Cumbres. I edited it in HDR, a little unusual for me but I liked the look. It is said that a "proper" steam train photograph is taken when the rods are in the down position. And so it is.... :)

Fort Langley is a village community forming part of the Township of Langley in British Columbia, Canada. It has a population of 3,400. It is the home of Fort Langley National Historic Site, a former fur trade post of the Hudson's Bay Company. Lying on the Fraser River, Fort Langley is at the northern edge of the Township of Langley. Rödlus
Rödlus (Corizus hyoscyami) har röd mitt, skutell, på ryggtriangeln. Den har en halssköld med två svarta sidofläckar och svarta rektanglar på vingarna.
Rödlusen är snarlik både eldlus och främst riddarbagge, men den uppträder alltid enstaka, aldrig i stora mängder. Den fullbildade rödlusen är också lite hårig vilket inte riddarbaggen är.
Rödlöss suger växtsaft från mogna frön av allehanda växter, även om den föredrar korgblomsväxter.

Waar we inmiddels middenin de herfst zitten en daarbij het weer ook een stuk regenachtiger geworden is, was dit in het voorjaar van 2025 wel anders. Zonnige dagen waren er genoeg, zo ook op woensdag 30 april. Na werk besloot ik Boxtel nog even op te zoeken vanwege het heerlijke weer, bovendien stond de Petroleumcokestrein van SETG gepland om deze avond uit Venlo naar Roosendaal te rijden. De 193 728 zat in Duitsland voor de trein, maar vanwege een langdurige defecte stroomafnemer voor de Nederlandse spanning en omdat er geen andere SETG loc geschikt was om in Nederland te kunnen rijden nam de RXP 9902 het stokje in Venlo over. Dit gebeurde zo ongeveer wekelijks en mede omdat ik de - in mijn ogen - fraaie 9902 nog slechts 1 keer eerder in fraaie lichtomstandigheden wist te fotograferen, stond deze trein hoog op mijn wensenlijstje.
Na een kort stukje fietsen kwam ik aan bij Liempde Overloopwissels. Dit bekende fotopunt had ik de dag hiervoor ook al opgezocht, helaas kon hier mede door een camerastoring enkel een ICR stam afgedrukt worden. Deze woensdagavond stond ik hier niet in mijn eentje maar met nog zo'n 4 andere fotografen die hetzelfde doel hadden. Door opkomende sluiers hoopten we dat de trein een beetje op zou schieten. Gelukkig ging het rangeren vlot en wisten we dat hij nog op tijd bij ons zou passeren voordat het zonlicht te hard achteruit zou gaan. Na een klein uurtje wachten viel het sein inderdaad af naar rood en begon de WUBO te knipperen. Ondertussen verscheen er ook ineens een rode luchtballon in de lucht; tijd om gereed te staan voor RXP.
Het is 20:16 als de brandschone RXP 9902 met de 193 728 van SETG in opzending met witte VTG Tads'en voor het vervoer van Petroleumcokes de fotografen bij dienstregelingpunt Liempde Overloopwissels passeert als trein 47730 richting Roosendaal. Vanaf Roosendaal namen beide Certus 27'ers de trein over. Inmiddels heeft SETG meer Vectrons in bezit met Nederlandse en Belgische toelating waardoor ze het volledige stuk zelf kunnen rijden tot de bestemming in België.

Deze week werd er samen met Jeroen voor 'n weekje op treinen spotvakantie naar het Elbedal en omg gegaan. We beginnen maar 'n keer met de 2 laatste plaatjes. Vanuit Dresden (D) werd er naar de erg leuke stek in Baalberge (D) gereden. Daar aangekomen werden er eerst 3 hinderlijke struiken gesnoeid. Het is tegen 13u45 als bij het station de overwegbomen naar beneden gaan. Dan enkele ogeblikken later passert DB 249 091 met Tanoos - gasketelwagens en Tads'n. Daar op emplacement zal wel van wagens gewisseld gaan worden,maar hoelang zou het gaan duren was de vraag ? . Dan na 'n uur wachten in de zon gaan de overwegbomen wederom naar beneden,en komt de rode DB 249 091 ,met 'n korte gasketeltrein de diesellijn oprijden met aan de haak 3 gasketelwagens > UN 1965 Hier verder naar richting Köthen (D)
* De kalktrein die we hier ooit gezien hebben was er niet ! Rijdt altijd op vaste tijden.De reden ?

Amazing what comes up in a plantpot of soil left lying around. It is beautiful, but a third of the size I have seen it. The info is from a wild seed site.

Other Names: Common Mullein, Great Mullein, Candlewick Plant, High Taper
Distribution: A native British wild flower, which is fairly common throughout Britain.
Habitat: It thrives on grassland, banks and dry fields & pastures in sunny sites.
Description: Biennial. Tall, straight flower spikes in the second year from June to August. In the first year the leaves form a rosette, but in the second year the stem extends from the rosette and leaves alternate along it. The flower spikes have individual yellow flowers along the stem. The leaves have a downy whitish coating of tiny hairs.
Uses: In early days the downy coating from the leaves was scraped off and used to make candle wicks. At country gatherings the whole stem was set alight and used as a torch. The flowers can be used as a yellow hair dye. Although most of the plant is poisonous, the dried flowers were once used to make a fruity flavoured medicine which was thought to relieve coughs and chills.
Wildlife: This is the food plant of the Mullein Moth.
RBMN train JTOS approaches the Industrial Rd crossing at Panther Creek passing some color fall foliage. Every time I am out shooting #425 I'm reminded of why this engine is such a fan favorite and why its been a favorite of mine since I was a young boy watching it operate between Temple and Hamburg back in the mid-80s.
