Mountains of Ergaki

The mountain range Ergaki is one of the most amazing corners of nature in the West Sayan Mountains. Exceptional in its beauty and greatness chisel-shaped granite peaks, full of rapids cold rivers, the deepest surrounded by virginal taiga and unapproachable rock walls lakes, polished by glaciers till high lustre trog valleys, magnificent waterfalls and rocky rivers of kurums - these are the things which attract tourists to this magic place of the Sayan Mountains.

Одно из красивейших и загадочных мест России.

Очень рекомендую посетить.

a pair of Wattled Lapwings nesting on rocks in the Kafue River were very nervous as there was an African Harrier-Hawk (Gymnogene) scanning the area.

One of their 2 chicks went immediately into hiding but this one wanted to stay on top of the rock

Loch Katrine, Trossachs.

This was taken from more or less the same location as the preceding shot. As much as anything, I was intrigued by the form and texture of the metamorphic rocks, trying to imagine the monumental forces which were applied to them in the metamorphosing process; the nearest rock, for example, looks more like a croissant than a rock!

The Loyalsock Creek has been cutting this mountain for centuries, flowing along the banks of trees for more seasons than anyone could count. I'm pleased that I was able to see it this season, in Worlds End State Park, Forksville, Pennsylvania.

When the former Isar weir in Ismaning was demolished (converted to artificial river rapids), many rocks were left for a more "natural" appearance.

At Punakaiki, New Zealand. See the previous photo for the explosion of water. I think this photo after the explosion with the water trails down the rocks is the better photo. The other photo is nice for the memories.

When I'm on my path of life I always move on

Looking ahead upon what's in front of me

I have always said

Bring it on

I can take it all

I'll deal with it

After all I'm a Viking Queen by heart

If I look back its only because I need to harvest from the experiences I have made

If I don't understand what I have been through and sort that out

Well, then I would have to deal with the same shit over and over again

Untill I see the pattern

And end my behavior that kind of seeks the experiences

In my mind the experiences I have made are like rocks fallen down from the mountain's side

Looking like this image

There are all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors

And with gems hidden in between

There are always gems

That's the signs where I solved the puzzle

I'm of course the mountain

My very own Mount Everest

Standing tall

Standing strong

Following my intuition

Following my light

Moving forward

I don't need to say

Bring it on anymore

I'm allowed to rest now

Enjoy

Love

My precious life

It's minus 8 and the rocks are slippery with ice, my hands are freezing but it doesn't matter, 'cos I'm very excited by the lighting and the wonderful view !

San Francisco’s Seal Rocks rise from the Pacific Ocean surf just off the shore of Lands End as the sun begins to set on the western edge of the city.

All need is some sand, sea, surf & barnacle-clad rocks to keep me happy. A camera helps too :)

Happy weekend everyone!

There are barriers between the beach and the sea at Eersterivierstrand. These are composed of upended layers of rock. The composition of the further one in this picture gives rise to strange shapes when it is eroded. It is very sharp to walk on and it was only when I clambered over a less eroded piece of rock that I discovered bits of coral hiding in the sandstone. I think the rock formation may well be in part an upended coral reef in sandstone.

A close up view, about 12mm x 8mm, of the edge of a blue agate slice sitting on top of a slice of blue fluorite.

Agate is a rock consisting primarily of cryptocrystalline silica, chiefly chalcedony, alternating with microgranular quartz. It is characterized by its fineness of grain and variety of colour. Although agates may be found in various kinds of host rock, they are classically associated with volcanic rocks and can be common in certain metamorphic rocks (Wiki).

Fluorite is a colourful mineral, both in visible and ultraviolet light, and the stone has ornamental and lapidary uses (Wiki).
