Q874 ATV
Late on a Sunday afternoon I came across this custom-built number parked up on the seafront at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
I've seen this promotional vehicle advertising the local Hippodrome Circus no end of times over the past thirty-odd years but I don't think I've ever seen it stationary before, other than at traffic lights. Good time to get a picture!
This is one of two examples that was built in 1985 by Nottingham-based PCF Motors, a manufacturer of Austin-Healey replicas, under the 'Action Cars' name.
This one has had a makeover in recent times with a Ringmaster replacing the clown figure that has sat atop the car for many a year.
I'm not sure what the original donor vehicle was for this one. I've seen it sporting all sorts of wheels and wheel trims over the years. It does have a 1300cc engine and that front Rostyle wheel looks like it's come off an old Vauxhall Chevette so that might be a possibility.

She is the Ringmaster of the Gothic Circus...
There is a mysterious grey mist that descends onto the stage during the show... it begins to clear and reveals Laura sitting astride an enormous black crow. They circle the tent high above the audience, with Laura performing incredible acrobatics from wings to claw.

I am so honoured to have been involved in the collaboration with Momoko for Dolly Japan magazine, and i never would have imagined that an official Pullip release would have come from that project... I love her <3 and she shares my name too.

She waved, tears streaming down her cheeks, the adoring audience cheering in anticipation: they believed the circus had one more act.... the performers knew better, mouths covered in horror, others shouting at her to stop. but she would not stop. She would not pause. It was only a small step.... tiny even, but it was enough to ensure the ringmaster fell.
Sundari and Monty welcome you to the Bigg Family Big Top. Our resident ringmaster, Monty, and animal trainer, Sundari, are currently away training future hopefuls (translation: lost in the wilds of my studio -- see comment below).
Up-cycled to showcase a lid from Big Top peanut butter, a taste from my childhood. I think the peanut butter (which often came in glassware that is now collectable) eventually changed its name to JIF, but I may be mistaken.

"We met last night in a dark alley. Seattle was the occasion. There were bright lights. Please send me the pictures." So read E's email after our encounter. It captures the essence of the shoot perfectly.
Having found an interesting alleyway just off Pike Street, where the warm orange of a lit doorway made a neat contrast with the green cast of fluorescent lamps, I'd only had to wait five minutes before E walked past. As a rule I try to ask people head on, but it was only as E passed that I noticed the intriguing combination of his sleek profile and a confident swaggering stride. He had a feline sort of cool, compelling me to speed up and ambush him twenty paces on.
"E, the letter?" I asked as we walked back to the alley.
"Like the letter," he clarified, assuming a languid, elegant slouch. His friend Troy, tasked with reflector duty suggested we move further down the alley, as we were attracting a fair number of stares from passersby. E was entirely unphased by the attention.
As we shot E explained he'd been looking to get into modelling. I think be incredible at it - a strong look and that magic dust combination of charisma and confidence that comes across as a positive, magnetic arrogance. A raw, singular cool that persisted throughout our shot, despite a few motley bands of hawkers interrupting to offer contraband Grey Goose and other wares that had either fallen off the back of a lorry or been given a discrete kick out of one. A little like Andrea as we shot a little circus had gathered, and E was its ringmaster.

The key light is from a Canon 600EX-RT shot through 43" umbrella, camera left at a 45* angle, two feet out of shot, fired from ST-E3-RT manual mode at 1/64. E's friend Troy is holding a 1.2m gold reflector a couple of feet from E camera right.
