Jesse Jackson is a civil rights legend in America and it was an honor to hear him speak. Considering he's 80 years old and both him and his wife recently just recovered from Covid, I know it could not have been easy to join these protests in Chicago and in Kenosha.

I saw him today as I was rushing to class. Luckily, there was a break in traffic and I was able to scoot across the street to greet him. I was surprised that he remembered my email name from two years ago and we had a quick but very friendly reunion. I asked if I could photograph him again to celebrate the reunion and unlike the first time when he was hesitant, he agreed with no hesitation.
He was a bit nervous about doing it on the busy street, saying that he lets his clothing speak for him and prefers that to conversations with people. He was concerned that stopping on the busy sidewalk would invite people to stop and talk to him. He offered to go to a less busy street around the corner but I was already late for class and he kindly let me do a couple of quick photos then and there. He wished me well with a friendly handshake. I thanked him and wished him well in spreading his message.

This portrait of Most Reverend Dr. Collier DD, Bishop of Ossory is a little reminder of how much has changed in Ireland over the centuries. Ferns, Ossory, Cashel even Armagh while once centres of great influence are today very much smaller centres with a long history. Most of us would have difficulty even locating Ossory the Bishop was obviously pleased to be there and the Man in Charge!

I realized I was walking behind a long-time acquaintance today, Reverend Justin. He wasn't hard to recognize - even from behind.
I called out a greeting to him and he stopped, turned around, and greeted me with recognition and friendship in his eyes.
As has always been the case when we have met, he was very warm and friendly and after a handshake he inquired about my health.
He told me he is still working 35 hours per week and still has a good relationship with his employer ("no problems there.") He is in good health and we both commented on how that is the most important thing of all.
Justin told me he would like to see more of Canada, Ottawa and Montreal in particular, where he would like to spread the Good Word, but travel is expensive. Perhaps one day.
I commented that his hair style has changed over time and he smiled and said "Yes, more of a helmet style now." You can see the changes in the comment photos below.
Reverend Justin has always accommodated my request for a portrait each time we've met and today was no different. He was a bit concerned that he wasn't wearing his best clothes but I explained it would be a head and shoulders photo. I took this portrait in a narrow passageway between two shops on Toronto's Danforth Ave.
Justin expressed interest in seeing his photo online so he could find out how people reacted to his photo so we exchanged contact information once again and I promised to send him a copy of today's photo.
Interestingly, Justin regarded us in a brotherly way since we both have a "mission" on the streets of the city. We parted by wishing each other well in doing the "good work."
