Following firing up the computer the 2.5" 80MB HDD appears to be working fine, though the internal Chinon FX-354 appears not to be in good shape.
All electrolytic capacitors on this board will probably need to be replaced, as the surface mount ones in particular have a bad reputation for leakage. Mine don't look too bad, though I think replacement would be a wise precaution assuming that this board doesn't turn out to be a "basket case".
Back when it was new in 1993 I seem to recall it wasn't 100% reliable in its operation, but that was a _long_ time ago, and my recollection is vague to say the least!

The electronics magazine Elektor published schematics for a 6502 based DIY computer named "Junior Computer". Jörg Walke modified this design with more ROM and RAM, an RS-232 interface and wrote an extended monitor program. The updated design is named Junior Computer ][: retro.hansotten.nl/junior-computer-ii/

Opening the cabinet requires not a screwdriver but a small, thin object to slide into a slot in each side and operate a spring-loaded latch.
Although this example includes the tape drive add-on, it is unfortunately missing the expansion cards required to utilise it! (loose cables from tape drives visible to the right of the backplane)

The Amiga never quite died, but entered a bizarre afterlife, morphing into a range of third-party PowerPC machines running AmigaOS-derived operating systems. Here is one in a convenient MiniITX case; it costs about £600;
this old Atari has had a DMA audio glitch for as long as I've had it. It worked well if I nudged the bottom of the casing just a little.
So now that the machine is out of storage, I stripped it right down and investigated exactly where the fault was. The weak spot was definitely just below the PSU, where the shifter chip sits.
I've always assumed the fault was a bad solder joint. But, no: reseating the shifter chip has fixed it.
I'm ridiculously happy that this old machine is now working better than it ever has.
