I had photographed the moon before with really pretty mediocre results so decided to follow the advice in this article:
www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/hub/guides/moon-p...
It worked a treat. Some of the advice is common sense but there are lots of small things that all need to be considered. Low ISO, smallish aperture, tripod etc. The colorisation was done in Photoshop using a gradient map.

Schokland ( Noordoostpolder) is a former island in the Dutch Zuiderzee. Schokland lost its status as an island when the Noordoostpolder was reclaimed from the sea in 1942. The remains are still visible as a slightly elevated part in the polder and by the still partly intact retaining wall of the waterfront of 'Middelbuurt'.
As a result from the increasing sea-level Schokland transformed from an attractive settlement area in the Middle Ages to a place under continuous threat by floods in the 19th century. By that time the Schoklanders had retreated to the three most elevated parts, Emmeloord, Molenbuurt, and Middelbuurt. A major flood in 1825 brought massive destruction, and in 1859 the government decided to end permanent settlement on Schokland. The former municipality of Schokland was joined to Kampen on the mainland.
Today Schokland is a popular archeological site and host to the Schokland Museum. Schokland was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Netherlands.

camera toss plus processing = fun
my initial foray into programmatic sources for camera toss, see this photo for a better description.
The tradition of pond building in the northern Upper Palatinate is almost 1000 years old. Around Tirschenreuth there are still countless fish ponds for carp, pike or tench. Cycling and hiking trails lead through this unique water landscape with its 4700 pools. The highlight of every tour is the 20m high ladder to heaven. It is only 1.4 kilometers outside of Tirschenreuth and offers a breathtaking view. And it is the showpiece of local architecture.
The construction of the ladder to heaven with its slender steel columns promises maximum transparency to the landscape on the one hand, and on the other hand the stair-like archaic overall shape provides a unique viewing experience.
The opposing arrangement of the two staircases automatically results in a slim gate situation from both sides, which once again addresses the issue of entering this special landscape for cyclists and pedestrians. The platform itself offers an all-round panoramic view of the depth and breadth of the landscape and can be used for didactic explanations. Furthermore, it allows a protected observation point for the native, special fauna.

The other night we had planned to make pizza and enjoy it at the beach while watching the sunset. We also enjoyed a walk along the Davis Bay ocean side walkway. When it was time to leave the sun had passed the point of no return for the evening and it was time to setup for a shot. We tried two different areas and this is the result of the second. I would be most interested in your comments regarding this composition because it includes three distinct sections. A foreground, a middle ground and a background.
Let me know your thoughts.

Reddish brown and tan badland cliffs run along the Upper Quatal Gulch in Los Padres National Forest in Ventura County, California. The view is to the west from near Toad Springs into the Cuyana Valley. Clouds and haze miixed with smoke from wildfires fill the western horizon. Eroded slopes like tthese in a rugged badland-like topography despite having more vegitation than the typical badland. As usual for the western US, these slopes face south and receive more sun in the winter. That results in less snow and moisture so vegetation is sparse when compared to the north facing slopes. This area has been (and will continue to be) uplifted over time by the active San Andreas Fault System which runs just east of here. This uplift helps create the eroded topography.
Autumn in Melbourne is always beautiful, with many wonderful deciduous trees full of colour like this one in its glorious golden autumn livery one sunny early Autumn day in May.
Melbourne experienced a wonderful Indian summer this year, and as a result, not only were there still plenty of beautiful blooms about, but the Autumnal colours were brilliant.
It's a handheld shot at 1/6 sec of two vehicles passing on a highway, for this week's Crazy Tuesday theme: "Something in Motion." What I can't figure out is why the vehicles themselves show motion blur, but the chrome on the wheels shows up as patterns instead of blur. I took several shots of different vehicles and they all came out the same way.
The only thing I can postulate is that maybe the autofocus function on the camera tried repeatedly to focus on the wheels as they turned(?). In any case, I sort of like the look; it gives the image a kind of sci fi or futuristic vibe for me.

------------------------------ JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Losing a bit of sleep over the lunar eclipse last night was well worth the investment. I am pretty stoked with the end result.
This is the reflection of the front part of a yellow canoe that was resting on the bank of the river. Using a smidgen of punsters license, I decided to name the pareidolia head that emerged, Canute or Canoot after King Canute a Danish king of England 1017-1035. He is best remembered for demonstrating to fawning courtiers his ability to hold back the rising tide.

Thank you so much
... is complete rubbish.
I mean it is OK unless you look closely.
Outcome of the attempt to scan a slide with the contraption shown before.
The picture shows Yosemite valley seen from Glacier Point. I shot this in 2002 on Kodachrome.
Great conditions, right loco, good company; what more could you want?
Well, to be honest, the tide in but if that'd happened I'd have had to quit the hobby on a high.
These are the days that make all the fails rankle a bit less!

This was the beautiful result following the cobweb creation, previously posted in this photostream, of my Actaea [Cimicifuga, Bugbane] which was quickly destroyed by local gusting breezes.
I must have had a lucky spider :-)

Venice Beach, Venice, Los Angeles (California, USA). Martedì, 5 aprile 2016.
I was walking around the beach at sunset with my Polaroid, looking for a nice scene with the ocean, the sun going down... but nothing stood out.
While I was going back to where I came from, I met this group of guys playing football. One of them looked at the Polaroid and started doing that face "Oh, cool camera! Take us a picture!". I just replied: "If you'd just were playing by the ocean...".
This shot is the direct result of his answer: "Well, let's do it!".
Thanks again Sean, Joshua, Dante and Melik!

Here you see why the Heron was guarding its domain with such ferocity. Within minutes of chasing away the anhinga, the heron lunged out of the tree it was sitting in, beat its extended wings thrice and plunged into the water - spearing the prize displayed here.
A few flips and turns and the prize slid down the throat - some other photos of this series are included in the comments below.
These fascinating rock formations - some of them in striking, spiky rows - are the result of sandstone being compressed by the weight of the Pacific Ocean, then bent and buckled by colliding tectonic plates. They're usually hidden by the sea, but at low tide you'll see them all the way along the winding gravel road from Whakataki to the settlement of Mataikona.
This example was taken near Sandy Bay near the start of the rock formations.

A super autumnal morning for this shot. A nice bit of mist lying in the hollows yet bright enough sun at sunrise to cast some super shadows from the sheep. All I needed was the sheep to hang around long enough for the sun to get going. They were losing interest at this point but I liked the result. Had to be on a tripod for this shot. Shooting into the sun is never easy with the dynamic range you get. Narrow aperture helps burst the sun.
I really enjoyed my day out in my white socks that I didn't want to take them off after getting back to the hotel.
Thinking of ordering PhenQ – wait till you have read this!
Trying to lose weight huh? Tell me about it. I have struggled with it for a really long time. After the birth of Evan, my second child – my body weight was all over the place.

After roughly two hours of walking through dirt and hills, along paths and forest floors, I'm surprised how clean they look. ;)
Montreux, Switzerland. This is the view from the promenade that follows lake Geneva's shoreline. During this time of the year, there is a fantastic Christmas market along here. (You can just see some of the tents if you look carefully.) There was some fog about, which is why it's a little hazy. The pinkish clouds seem to be a result of pointing the lens pretty much into the sun. Left them like that, as I liked the effect, but in reality I don't remember them being that pink.

So I set the alarm for 1:00 A.M. so I could go out and shoot the Leonid Meteor Shower last night and, much to my surprise, I actually got out of bed and did it! Just so we're clear: I voluntarily woke up and went out into the 24 degree night, on a new moon (absolutely zero moonlight), drove out into the middle of the desert and walked around in 1000 year old ruins to see if I could, by pure luck, get a picture of a meteor over the ruins.
This is Wupatki Pueblo, it is about 20 miles outside of Flagstaff. To get this shot, I simply found a composition that I liked, set up the camera and then used the shotgun method - just take a whole bunch of pictures and hope that by dumb luck a meteor would wander into the frame during the 30 seconds the shutter was open. The frustrating part was there were many times that I would see meteors shooting across the sky outside my composition - frustrating but very cool. Since there was absolutely no moonlight, I had to use a flashlight to lightpaint the ruins. Considering the difficulty of this whole process, I am pretty happy with this result.
For anyone who's curious about settings on a shot like this:
ISO 1600, 30 sec. @ f/2.8, manual focus set to infinity.

In the heart of winter, she strolled through the snow-covered streets with her signature boldness. While others clutched steaming drinks to keep warm, she proudly held a Frozen Peach—a playful twist that perfectly complemented her unique style. Because who said you can't enjoy a frosty cocktail beneath a flurry of snowflakes? That winter evening, she owned the scene with elegance and charm, dressed to conquer the snowy backdrop like a true fashion icon.
HAPPY SLIDERS SUNDAY!
I have not SLUD for quite a while. It's nice to be back.
These "flames" are sort of the opposite of shadows. The are the images made when winter afternoon sunlight filters into my garden apartment:
The light is first filtered through bare winter limbs of a of a garden bush. It comes in through a floor-level frosted window, and then through the metal ranks of an old-fashioned floor-standing hot water radiator.
I did a lot of sliding of various kinds so that you can see what I saw. I really like the result, I hope that you do too,

Natural color of large salt lake! Lake Tuz is one of the largest salt lakes in the world and is the second largest lake in Turkey (over 600 square miles) although its average depth is less than two feet! The color in the image results from the angle of the sun, the shallow depth and the high salinity of the water. At times algae turns the lake pink. The lake is located southeast of Ankara and northwest of Konya in a predominately dry region. More than half of the salt used in Turkey comes from the three salt mines on the lake.
you judge.... perhaps a small problem with the corpus callosum?
