Messing around with that crazy high resolution mode on my Olympus PEN-F yesterday. These shots don't really make huge sense for its application, but it is neat to think how large I can print these 80MP monstrosities. Might have to try that just for sake of SCIENCE.

May the Hero's Journey Mythology Goddess inspire you (as they have inspired me!) along your own artistic journey! Love, love, love the 70-200mm F/2.8 Lens! Holding it up all day, alongside the Sony NEX 6 with the 50mm F/1.8 lens for cool video bokeh which I have mounted under the Nikon D800E camera, is quite the workout! My shoulders have gotten bigger after so many days with six hour shoots in the AM and 3 hour shoots in the PM holding that rig up :). Plus I have to carry all the gear, books, and clothes a few hundred yards up and down the steep cliffs. I count my photography days as two workout days. :) But I love it! Every day presents a puzzle--how to figure out the light, and every model presents a mystery to be unlocked--what are her best angles/poses/actions? Nothing beats the challenge of capturing the natural beauty of a day out there, when the light's dynamic range can change by a factor of ten in a few minutes as the mist burns away to reveal the sun, and then the wind whips up and a fog rolls on in, making it seem like a windy December dusk in July. One must always be mindful of tide, times, and temperatures and work quickly before the cameras get too hot in the sun, or the model gets too cold in the wind, as the tide and rogue waves reach out to grab your equipment/props/clothes and claim them for Poseidon, the god of the sea . Beach photography/video is just like surfing, with the conditions always changing and every wave a bit different. Studio photography is like riding an exercise bike set at level 1 in a gym in front of a TV. And shooting stills and video @ the same time is like Jimmy Page or Slash improvising on his double-necked guitar.
I'm working on a book called "Lone Cowboy Photography: A Humble Hero's Journey into the Art of Photography" about how to shoot it all on your own--stills and video for sports, portraits, and landscapes--with no assistants nor teams. Just you and the goddesses, the heroic athletes, the majestic, epic landscapes, and a copy of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey to teach you of the poetry of epic, heroic beauty. You gotta be ready, son--you gotta be ready for quick-draw showdowns at sunrise and sunset, during the magic hours and in the harsh light at high noon. Every shoot is over the second you finish packing your bags for the day with all your batteries, backup cameras, freshly-cleaned lenses, washed and folded clothes and hoodies, and props and polarizer filters. Every shoot ends the second the prep is over, and the fun, and art, and life of the live performance begins. :) "Every fighter has a plan," said boxing great Mike Tyson, "Until they get hit."

All these years I have always been a big follower on physical fitness & sports. I played cricket & tennis regularly till now & had a decent routine of running & fitness training in the gym. All these years of good work had taken a backseat, since the photography bug bit us.
What are first day of a New Year for, if not a new resolution, so I say I am going to be fit & fine as this young lady is. Ooops, (Thubba Temples) the guy on the other side of the net! :-)

Dr. E would go on to heal the blind with his NSF-funded, award-winning Ph.D. dissertation which also laid down the foundations of Light Time Dimension Theory. The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.

At this time of year we all make resolutions with every intention of keeping to them. Inevitably there are some which fall by the wayside, sometimes for good reasons.
As with everything in life, it is sensible to set ourselves realistic targets that we know we can achieve.
For example, I could say that I will give up smoking because that would be the smart thing to do but I know that promise won’t last, so I am not going to make it.
I suppose the best plan of action really is not to make any resolutions at all, that way nobody will be disappointed and any life changes that are achieved will appear as a bonus.
You can therefore ignore anything that is legible in this picture!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL..... one thing I will promise is that there will be another picture tomorrow.

My New Year's resolution, to post here more often nd to keep in touch with my good flickr friends who are amongst the best photographers in the world and who have taught me so much. Also going to take my camera out more often the poor thing has been at rest for far too long.

Standing in one of the Bays at York Station is 68022 "Resolution" wearing the livery of Transpennine Express. Soon loco hauled services will return on transpennine services.
PS. No trespassing was undertaken to get this shot :) An advantage of a long arm, gorillapod and WiFi link between camera and iPhone....

My resolution this year is to drink more water this year. Actually I want to be healthier in general, but drinking more water is a good way to start. Happy New Year everyone!
High-resolution mosaic of Jupiter's Equatorial Zone and a plume of high-altitude ammonia ice clouds originating from the South Equatorial Belt. This image was taken between 2011 and 2027 UT on March 4, 1979. At the time, Voyager 1 was 1,145,941 km from Jupiter.
At top left, Io's shadow is just entering the frame. A small black dot can be seen near top center - this is the ring moon Adrastea. It is the smallest ring moon of Jupiter, spanning only 20km across on its widest dimension. In this picture it is only about 2 pixels across.

Alfons Maria Mucha also know internationally as Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), was a Czech graphic artist, painter and illustrator. He lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, and is best know for his noticeably stylized and decorative theatrical posters like those of Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in paris at the time. Mucha produced paintings, advertisements, book illustrations as well as designs for carpets, jewelry and theatre sets, in what was called the Mucha style. His works featured beautiful young women in neoclassical robes surrounded by flowers which formed as haloes. haha yeah I never seem to fulfill New Year's Resolutions. So for the longest time I never made them. If you want to change something about yourself, I think you should just do it, not wait until it's the new year....
And since I never seem to complete my resolutions, I thought I should make simpler changes in life first...slow and steady. I want to start to wear more of my necklaces, I have a lot, but I always forget to wear them,
