Not real. Luminar Sky replacement test. Photo actually taken during day. You can make out the distant mountains aren’t masking the sky very well, but overall the Auto Sky replacement works pretty good for one click. The waves would also look very different under a long exposure.

Last sun light in the year 2017 hitting this mountain top, and the almost full moon rising behind it.

Again, the scene is the medieval castle of Berkhamsted, or what is left of it, and, to the left, the gatehouse of 1865. What I am experimenting with is "sky replacement". The actual sky was boring and featureless. Now, is this an editorial 'emergency' that entitles you to take drastic steps to 'improve' the image? I wonder what people feel about it.

This is Nantygwyllt Church, built beside one of the Elan Valley reservoirs as a replacement for a church which was drowned by the water. Fascinating display of photos inside from the time when the reservoirs were built in the early 20th century.

When I was in San Miguel a few years back, this otherwise charming alley was defaced with ugly graffiti. I was happy to find that, now, there are a number of artistic/more pleasant renderings and murals along the way.

New/Replacement modular building for Fair Isle Bird Observatory to replace the one which burnt down and was made in Orkney and like these was a modular building. The Modules have been built in the North of England and have been transported to Orkney by the Eemslift Ellen imo. 9671474 from Grimsby and are being hauled to temporary storage here in Orkney by Heddle Haulage.

Here is a photo from the archives that I may have never of posted if not for the new Photoshop "sky replacement" tool. The sky in this plane photo before the sky replacement was a very boring light blue sky. My kids got me a years subscription to the online photoshop and just getting around to see what it has to offer. This is my first attempt and there are some adjustments that I still have to learn.

I feel a little "dirty" replacing a sky in one of my photos, never really done that before. In doing this it brings a lot of questions to my photo and photography in general.

Should replacing a sky even be allowed and still call it a photo or is it now more a piece if art?

In the future do I need to acknowledge that the sky was replaced in a photo or say nothing? If I take and post a photo that has an amazing sky do I need now to say that the sky was not replaced?

Is it OK to use someone else skies in your photo or just use one that you created? This is my own sky shot in this photo.

Please give me you opinion in the comments below.

Thanks and have a great Sunday!!

With replacement front grab irons and a tiny little vinyl covered seat on the platform, UP SD45 No. 19 appears ready for a one-way trip to a scrapyard, parked in Salt Lake City on Nov. 3, 1985. The cab was removed and transplanted to wreck damaged SD40-2 No. 3584. The faded, hand written lettering on a sign mounted to the front handrail appears to read ā€œWindshieldā€.

Hoveberg Castle

Hoveberg Castle was built in 1896. During the First World War it was completely destroyed by a fire. At that time, about a hundred men of the Belgian army were billeted there.

In 1920 it was completely rebuilt.

Since 1981, the castle and its surroundings have been a protected village sight.

Hoveberg Castle was restored in 1988 and since then has been serving as a family replacement home for people with disabilities.

The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the King of Spain; However, the royal family does not live there, but rather in the Zarzuela Palace, which is why it is used for state ceremonies and solemn events.

With an area of 135,000 m² and 3,418 rooms (almost double that of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Versailles, it is the largest royal palace in Western Europe and one of the largest in the world. It houses a valuable historical heritage- artistic, highlighting the set of musical instruments known as the Stradivarius Palatinos, and very relevant collections of other disciplines such as painting, sculpture and tapestry. The State rooms and artistic ,collections are open to visits as long as there are no official events.

The palace was built by order of King Philip V, on the site left by the Royal AlcƔzar, almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1734. Both the foundations of the old fortress and some of its structures were used for the construction of the new palace. The fire episode served to justify the replacement of the old building with a palace in accordance with the taste of the time. Its construction began in 1738, according to plans by the architect Filippo Juvara, who proposed a larger palace, but in a different location. When Juvara died, the project was entrusted to his disciple Juan Bautista Sachetti, who was required to adapt Juvara's plans to the site of the old AlcƔzar. Other distinguished Spanish architects such as Ventura Rodrƭguez participated and were trained in the quarry of the new palace; the configuration of the Royal Chapel is due to him. Francesco Sabatini was in charge of the completion of the building, as well as secondary renovation, expansion and decoration works. Charles III was the first monarch to continuously inhabit the palace.

Heading towards Klostermansfeld VT 407 from Kreisbahn Mansfelder Land passes the village of Biesenrode on a sunny spring day in 2015. It seemed to be the final day of operation on the line, replacement of the trains by busses was already decided and track works were necessary. But things turned out differently, only a couple of days later a concept for seasonal touristic operation was developed and thus trains run through the romantic Wipper valley even today.

The former SP searchlights at Chaney Jct, just west of Downtown Houston, have served their role in guiding trains here for over 50 years. Replacement Vader signals went up in Summer 2024, but nearly a year later the searchlights still stand. The searchlights would eventually come down near the end of June 2025.

Following the old IC branch west of Rantoul, IL, my friends and I were hoping to find the rare GP28 owned by the elevator here in Dewey. We were a bit surprised to see this ex CNW GP50 instead. The Co-Op still owns the GP28, which is parked in the barn with mechanical issues and from what we understand, is for sale.

The classic Lake Boat numbers are dwindling and one of the "new" replacements was in town one recent morning. While not a preferred photographic target it was well lit and who knows, someday someone will be looking back at this as one of the "old boats" (if it lasts that long). These two are pretty good. Don't eat or need heat, shots, licenses, tags and don't use litter. Don't claw furniture. They don't play either. But they fill a void for now.

Did you ever have one of those days... where the nose piece from your eyeglasses falls into your hand? That was how (my) last Friday started... LOL...

Well, maybe my vision is not this bad... but, without wearing my glasses, there are times when looking at things is becoming a challenge!
