After two days of absolutely gorgeous sunsets, I went down to the coast to see if Mother Nature would repeat herself. The cloud bank that had been the catalyst for the previous two days began to erode and I wasn't too hopeful. However, what I was presented with was a cloud deck with incredible texture. I accidentally stumbled upon a really nice effect with my longer exposures and I guess I've joined the "Cloud Motion" club. It was great seeing Benjamin Williamson down there as well. He makes me think a a lot more about composition.

And to think that lot was about two-thirds of what was meant to turn up. There were five other bodies, about eight more L lenses including a 500mm f/4 and towards another ten 580 EX II's due there. By my reckoning, at 'buy-me-new' current prices (in NZ) that's about $84,000 in attendance, with about another $32,000 that nearly showed up for their picture.

 

So at first glance, you see a shit load of posh camera stuff on the table right? Tools bought by photographers to aid their quest for better pictures. You all lust, we all lust after the latest toys, 5D2's or D700's, the Xpan or an 85mm 1.2, wanting more all the time. We all do it.

 

And it's with that mentality I get a lot of people coming to the photos I take and not actually seeing the picture, not realising what's going off and why, no bothering, not opening their fucking eyes, and assuming, and expecting whatever photo it may be is a pure product of the equipment used. Granted a lot of the time, you can't take a photo so well unless you've got 'X' piece of kit, but it really isn't, REALLY isn't what makes the photo.

 

The thought process, the photographer, and the quest for furthering your images is what makes photos. Expensive camera gear does not.

 

I'll repeat that for those hard of hearing, expensive camera gear does NOT make the photos.

 

You do.

 

I am fucking tired of forever being labeled and hassled about this. I get gear nerds whacking off over the latest and greatest all the time, through work, through my photos and through here. Genuinely if you can't see the point of this, and why masturbating over the latest gear isn't on, then you need your head looking at. I spoke to one guy this week with a 5D2 and about five L lenses, a $1200 tripod and a fuck load of fancy lights, all bought to improve his pictures, and yet he's not left his back garden with it yet, and got past shooting whatever mundane shit's there in auto mode. I mean, Jesus H Christ! :-(

 

So, if you collect pictures of lenses from the internet and stash them away like a replacement for porn, get out more.

 

If you ask what f/ stop or shutter speed was used every single time you see a photo, and have been shooting for longer than three months, either buy a nice tutorial book or get out more.

 

If you sit and have conversations with yourself and other (fat American) people on the internet arguing the finer points of noise control in cameras you'll never own or use, get out more.

 

If you feel the need to wear your Nikon, Canon, Zeiss or whatever logos with pride wherever you go, you either need to leave home because you're 43 and still live with mum, or need to find a girlfriend.

 

If you think Ken Rockwell makes sense, pick a new hobby.

 

If you think the forums on dpreview.com are a treasure trove of well-balanced and educated information, please leave the planet.

 

If you decided to order your new 5D and then cancel the order at the last minute to buy a ****ing Sony because some people took photos of fairy lights over Xmas and found some black dots, seriously, get your head read.

 

If you think lower and lower noise makes better cameras, step back from the plate for a second, and ask how many genius photographers on this website actually add it all back in? (Answer = lots)

 

If you think owning a Nikon or a Canon makes you better than your opposite camp owning enemy, get out more. Take anger management classes, see a shrink, then get out some more again.

 

If you think these rants are illogical and piss you off, take a look at them again and see how many apply to you. I am right.

The Shields Daily News for 22 August 1906 reports:

 

“At North Shields Police Court today James George (15) was charged with having, between Aug. 4th and 11th, stolen 3s in money, a silver match-box stand, and several articles of clothing, valued at £2 10s, the property of his sister, Alice Mary George. The whole of the property had been recovered by Sergt. Hall from four different pawnbrokers, with whom they had been pledged by the accused, who pleaded guilty. Inspector Scougal said the accused had been three time convicted for larceny since April 1903. Accused was remanded for a week with a view to being committed to a reformatory.”

 

The Shields Daily News for 24 April 1903 contains the details of one of the earlier cases.

 

“THEFT BY BOYS.

 

Alexander George (13), James George (11), Henry Crow (13), Robert Charters (8), Montgomery Bryden (9) and Andrew Dodds (11), Stephenson Street, were charged with stealing a rabbit, valued at 1s 6d, from a backyard at 137 Linskill Street, the property of Sarah Spurling. Prosecutrix said that she missed a rabbit from her back premises, on the date named.

 

Alfred Hodgson, an assistant with Mr Kelday, poulterer, Camden Street, said that Charters brought the rabbit to the shop and offered to sell it, saying his father was out of work. He gave him 6d for it and afterwards handed it over to the police. Detective Sergt. Scougal said he arrested and charged the accused. They admitted participating in the theft and in sharing the proceeds.

 

Alex. George, James George, Andrew Dodds and Robt. Charters were then charged with stealing three pigeons, valued at 5s, from the backyard of 37 Jackson Street, on the 21st inst. William Williamson, a boy, said at 6.30pm on the 21st inst. he had a number of pigeons in a dovecot at the house of his parents. At 7pm they were missing. The birds were worth 5s. Later he went to a pigeon shop in the Borough Road and there identified two of them. Det.-Sergt. Scougal said he charged the accused and they admitted stealing the pigeons and selling two. The whole of the prisoners were ordered to be birched”.

The Shields Daily News for 20 March 1905 also reported on another case involving George.

 

"THROWING MISSILES.

 

James George and Robert Charters, little boys, were summoned for throwing missiles in Linskill Street on the 3rd inst. The evidence showed that the defendants and other boys were continually annoying a tradesman in that thoroughfare. On the date named potatoes were thrown into the shop. One struck the woman behind the counter on the head and another smashed a window, the broken pane having since been replaced by George's father. George was fined 2s 6d without costs and the case against Charters was dismissed."

This set contains mugshots of boys and girls under the age of 21. This reflects the fact that until 1970 that was the legal age of majority in the UK.

A few weeks back I bought a slightly better lens for events and had planned to use it at the Forwards Festival. As the gig came nearer all we seemed to hear was the threat of (much needed admittedly) torrential downpours over the weekend. So not wanting a repeat of the utter soaking my equipment got at 2016's Massive Attack gig I decided to play it safe & take my usual camera/lens combination which would be easier to stash away when the heavens opened.

This works well when positioned at the front of the stage but having witnessed a phenomenal set from Kae Tempest we rushed over to the main stage to catch the Sleaford Mods. It was then that the limitations of the kit I had bought became a lot more apparent, so those shots of the charismatic Jason Williamson are a bit grainy as the ISO was very high and we weren't that close to the stage. Oh well you live and learn...and it didn't rain!!

Mint Julep

Four mint sprigs

3 oz of bourbon

1 tablespoon of powdered sugar

1 tablespoon water

Put the mint leaves, powdered sugar and water in a Collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed ice and then add bourbon. Top that off with more ice. I like to garnish mine with a mint sprig. Serve it with a straw. Two or three of those and anything sounds good!

 

Rum and Coca-Cola

Let me give you my recipe for a rum and Coca-Cola. Take a tall glass, put some ice in it, two fingers of Bombay rum, and a bottle of Coca-Cola. Shake it up well and go drink it in the sunshine!

 

BBQ

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup vinegar

5 tablespoons Worcestershire

1 tablespoon butter

?? small onion

dash black pepper

cayenne pepper

1 ?? teaspoons salt

half cup water

Mix it all together in a large pan. Bring it to a quick boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. You can also figure out your own secret ingredient and dump it to the mix. I like about three fingers of Tennessee sipping whiskey.

 

Figgy Pudding

4 oz of plain flour

a pinch of salt

4 oz bread crumbs

4 oz shredded suet

1 teaspoon mixed spice

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 oz dark soft brown sugar

8 oz chopped dried figs

finely grated rind & the juice of one lemon

2 tablespoon milk

2 beaten eggs

“Sift salt and flour together, then mix with all the remaining dry ingredients. Add the figs, lemon rind and juice, milk and beaten eggs. Beat them well. The mixture should have a soft dropping consistency. Put into a greased two-pint pudding basin, cover securely, and steam for three hours. I like it served with heated golden syrup topping, and a generous pour of custard. Makes me hungry just talking about it. My engineer Tex Carbone likes vanilla ice cream on it. I don’t understand that at all.”

 

The Perfect Meatball

3 minced cloves garlic

?? cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1 pound ground meat (equal parts beef, pork, veal)

?? cup grated Parmesan cheese

9 Saltine crackers, finely crushed

St Andrew Undershaft, Leadenhall Street, London

In the Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight sequence of novels by Henry Williamson, the young Phillip Maddison works at the Moon Fire Office in Leadenhall Street at about the time this photograph was taken.

 

This late Gothic church, completed right on the eve of the Reformation, must be one of the most photographed churches in the City. People come to snap the Gherkin or the Leadenhall building, and quickly notice they can get St Andrew Undershaft in as well. This juxtaposition of the old and the new is very pleasing, and the internet is awash with photographs of it. This does disguise the fact, however, that St Andrew is actually quite a big building, dwarfed as it is by the leading lights of London's better-known skyscrapers crowding around it.

 

The church famously gets its epithet from the maypole which was on the green beside it before being destroyed by rabid protestants in 1547. The mad gothick at the top of the tower dates from the 1880s and was the work of one Chatfeild Clarke. Whatever was he thinking of? Rhineland castles, probably, which just goes to show what you get when you have an over-enthusiastic architect and a client with more money than taste.

 

As with near neighbours St Helen's Bishopsgate and St Ethelburga, this church survived both the Great Fire and the firestorm of the Blitz. Unlike its neighbours, it only suffered minor damage from the massive terrorist bombs of 1992 and 1993, and so this is one of the City's few reasonably intact medieval churches.

 

I'm still to get inside this church. On the last two occasions I visited it was under refurbishment for the use of the busy evangelical congregation up the road at St Helen's Bishopsgate. I suspect that we won't get a repeat of Quinlan Terry's attempt to turn that church into an operating theatre after the IRA bombs, but I look forward to finding out - watch this space.

These are the remnants of railwaymen's houses, adjacent to Edge Hill station, which in the 19th century was a bustling site housing two railway works. These presumably acted to connect the country to with the Liverpool docks, at that time a massive maritime industry.

 

These houses were built by Joseph Williamson, who funded much building in the city in the 1800's. He was known by the locals as The Mole of Edge Hill.

 

I recently found out about the Williamson Tunnels, a network of many miles of underground tunnels, stretching perhaps 90 feet under ground. These contain tunnels and rooms of all shapes and sizes, built by men returning from the Napoleonic war, their purpose now remains a mystery. However, it is speculated that his wife was influenced by a preacher who prophesised an apocalypse. The tunnels built presumably to act as a bolt hole for humanity to weather the coming storm.

 

All that is left of the houses is the facade I think, which now forms a wall adorned with advertising. There are more relics across the city that remain from Williamson's projects, I think I will definately investigate this man and his Fungus the Bogeyman behaviour further.

Harlinsdale Farm is a historic farm for breeding Tennessee Walking Horses. The farm was purchased by the city of Franklin to preserve history and to be used as a park.

Harlinsdale Farm is a 198-acre historic district north of downtown Franklin on the west side of U. S. Highway 31 (Franklin Road). The highway provides a portion of the western boundary of the property while the Harpeth River is the eastern boundary. The property's entrance faces the location of the historic Dortch Stove Works (Now The Factory at Franklin). The nominated property contains 18 contributing and 4 non-contributing resources. The related buildings and structures of the Harlinsdale stables visually dominate the nominated property. The stables are connected to the highway by a paved driveway, which is lined by a white board fence that splits the eastern most horse pasture into two separate fields. Large expanses of open land, critical for a training stable, characterize the farm.

 

Main Horse Stable (1935)

 

At the center of the complex, approached by a paved road, is the main horse stable, completed in 1935. Set back about 680 feet from Franklin Road, the long facade of the gable end stable is parallel to the road and only the wood fence lining the drive to the barn interrupts the view. This arrangement was an innovation in the modem revival of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry in the 1930s.

 

The one story plus monitor roof main horse stable is capped by a green asphalt shingle gable roof, sheathed with white weatherboard and green wood trim, and rests on a concrete slab foundation. It has a centered gable bay entrance on both front and rear facades and two side wings, creating a cross-shaped plan precedent setting for Tennessee Walking Horse stables. This bay projects approximately fifteen feet from the wings, which are approximately forty feet long. The front, or east facade (street facade) has two wood six-over-six double hung sash windows flanking the one-story overhead rolling "garage-type" door on the central projecting bay. Above the door in the monitor roof are two three-paned single sash windows with a single metal tube centered between them that projects, curving downward. The walls are constructed of five-inch weatherboarding. The first story wings each contain four open, barred, and symmetrically placed square windows. The monitor roof repeats this pattern but with five windows, two of which abut the central bay.

 

The principal features of the south elevation are the two sliding wood doors. Each door has a square six-pane window. Flanking the entry doors are square windows identical to those on the east facade, while the monitor roof also repeats the window and lighting pattern of the east facade. Also visible are the south elevations of the central bays of the east (farm side) and west (street side) facades. Evident on the eastern part are two six-over-six double hung sash windows on the first story and two triple paned single sash windows in the monitor roof. The western section has one six-over-six double hung sash window on the first story.

 

Harlinsdale Farm is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places for its statewide significance in agriculture as Tennessee's most significant extant historic stables associated with the modern Tennessee Walking Horse industry from 1935 to 1956. The property also possesses local architectural significance as a cohesive, extant collection of buildings that became a model for the image and appearance of the Tennessee Walking Horse stables. Dating from c. 1900, the farm complex represents an archetypical Middle Tennessee farm that would turn into one of the premier Walking Horse sites in the state. The collection of buildings includes the walking horse farm and the dairy farm complexes, complete with laborer houses, equipment sheds, a smokehouse, a farmhouse, various horse and livestock barns, a dairy barn, and silos.

 

Due to its success as a Walking Horse breeding and training center, Harlinsdale Farm has been a model by which other breeders and trainers in the industry have patterned the layouts of their stables. Other successful horse breeding farms, such as Haynes Haven in Spring Hill, Maury County, and the Wilson Farm in Sumner County, followed the precedents of Harlinsdale's design and layout. Instead of the traditional Tennessee placement of the main barn behind a centrally located house, with the barn's primary entry being on its gable end and facing the rear of the house, the Harlins chose a new model that highlighted the horse stables. By drawing attention to the central structure, through a lengthwise positioning and unusual cross-gable placement of the primary entryway and facade on this long side, the architecture becomes a social statement of pride and position. The main horse barn contains impressive craftsmanship and balances work spaces for employees and stalls for the horses. Its exterior facade reflects an unmistakable 1920s industrial aesthetic: here was a facility to produce horses, large numbers of them, for sale.

From the ancient times many Religionists, Philosophers had spend their whole life in search for the Creator - God & the mysteries of his creation; but they could not found Him. In holy Books they conclude that `God is the ultimate creator of this universe! This nature is an art of God & the universe is running by the power of God!`. Science is also doing deep research from last many centuries to find out the mysteries of universe and self reality. The Akashic Records

In Ancient Vedic holy scripts, we will find many hidden knowledge of creation which now present science are try to find out by many experiment and theories. One such verydeep interesting topic of Quantum physics research is "Akashic Records". In Vedic Sanskrit scripts word "Akashic Records" means "sky ", "space" "luminous" or "Aetheric Knowledge" , So Akashic records can be considered as Cosmic knowledge of universe. The Akashic records are collectively understood to be a collection of mystical knowledge that is encoded in the Aether energy; i.e. on a non-physical plane of existence. Akasha can also be thought of as the underlying ‘nothingness’ from which all ‘somethingness’ arises. No matter how things change, the ‘nothingness’ or ‘space’ remains and holds a record of all that has take place within it. There are three states of consciousness that we all go through every day: our sleep, dreams and waking. It is as if Creation itself remembers all that occurs and keeps a record of itself within the very fabric of creation.

The Akashic field of torsion waves may be new to science, its existence has been knownfor thousands of years in the East. The only new thing about it is that it is being rediscovered by western science. Akasha is the womb of creation bringing forth every physicalaspect that can be perceived with the senses according to eastern traditions. Akashic Records were accessed by ancient people of various cultures, including the Indians, Moors, Tibetans, Bonpo and other peoples of the Himalaya, Egyptians, Persians, Chaldeans, Greeks, Chinese, Hebrews, Christians, Druids and Mayans. It is held that the ancient Indian sages of the Himalayas knew that each soul, atma, or entity recorded every moment of its existence in a "book", and that if one attuned oneself properly then one could access that "book". Nostradamus claimed to have gained access to the Akasha, using methods derived from the Greek oracles, Christian and Sufi mysticism and the Kabbalah. Other individuals who claim to have consciously used the Akashic Records include: Charles Webster Leadbeater, Annie Besant, Alice Bailey, Samael AunWeor, William Lilly, Manly P. Hall, Lilian Treemont, Dion Fortune, George Hunt Williamson, Rudolf Steiner, Max Heindel and Edgar Cayce amongst others.

In Surat Shabda Yoga cosmology, the Akashic Records would be located within the causal plane of Trikuti. In Indian mythology "Chitragupta" mention as helping hand of GOD, who keep all records of our entire life karmic actions. When we left body for next birth before that we get presented in front of GOD- the light and "Chritragupta" shows our all life actions and we promise to GOD that we will not do bad karmas again and when we take human birth again we forgot our promise and acts as per our wish. Also Indian mythology says that "Narada" had also access to an essential knowledge that is at the fabric of the divine cosmic order.Ancient Indian Vedas and the language of Sanskrit itself were extracted from Akasha.

The claim that in Egypt, those who could read the Akasha were held in high standing and would advise the Pharaohs on daily activities and dream interpretation. The Phoenicians and Babylonians believed there to be a celestial record kept by the Creator about everything which took place on earth. Within ancient Jewish scriptures are numerous passages about a record being kept about everyone’s life. In Islam, it is believed there is the KiramanKatibin, the two angels who record everything good or bad, every word, thought or action by each person. In theosophy and anthroposophy, the Akashic records are a compendium of all human events, thoughts, words, emotions, and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future. They are believed by theosophists to be encoded in a non-physical plane of existence known as the etheric plane.The Akashic Records, or "The Book of Life," can be equated to the universe's super-computer system. It is this system that acts as the central storehouse of all information for every individual who has ever lived upon the earth.

Something similar is mentioned in the Bible called ‘The Book of Life’ which refers to the Akasha records in both the Old Testament (Psalm 69:28) and the New Testament (Philippians 4:3, Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 17:8, 20:12, 20:15 and Revelation 21:27 "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.")which has recorded all the events in everyone’s life (references to the recording of people’s lives appear in the books of Exodus, Psalms, Philippians and Revelations). In Psalms, King David speaks openly about how God has kept a record of his life, both good and evil. Just a few of the other names for the Akashic Records, based on culture or religion, are: The Infinite Mind, Cosmic Mind, Book of Life, Hall of Records, Universal Mind and Eye of GOD.

We had written details on this topic i.e How GOD is Gforce or Unified force of universe and what is the sacred space -time geometry of universe through which we can explain to world how God acts through his 32 energy points for creation of different forces to run the universe through his Divine Sacred Geometry, like God's Ocean of love energy creates gravity force for universe and this research paper name "Metaphysics of The Unified Field of Universe" was accepted to 'International Conference on Unified Field Mechanics' at London organize by International Physical and Mathematical Science Committee ,which was hold on Dec 15- 16, 2016.

We may raise with one fundamental question that " If Universe is body of GOD, who is ever pure and powerful residing in 10th dimension of universe which is beyond system of cyclic entropy, then why his body (Universe) get trap into entropy system which we see today?" The Aether Quantum Dynamic Physics (AQDP) of Akashic Records

Every Aether energy quanta of universe has consciousness and interact with each other's through Neural network of Scared Geometrical mechanism patterns. This Cosmos is a mind-like topological neural network based on the principle of tensegrity and wherein a Soul-like consciousness act as self- realize or self-actualize through the behavior of the “code”. Electromagnetic energy is completely invisible to the naked eye, but a virtual universe of electromagnetic waves permeates our entire worldand this vast network of impulses carries within it information and data that we have come to depend on in our digital age. It is the backbone of what is otherwise referred to as the "Cloud Computing", which remotely stores billions of gigabytes of data.When we think about the "Cloud Computing" what we're really talking about is data transfer, information transfer through server computersto billion people of world. So we are not seen these hidden secret patterns and codes of Cloud computing that are floating around us but we get result by harnessing and Channeling them through right form of energy transmitters and decoders.

The starting population of this Golden age world are 9,16,108 deities souls living on the earth and 108 souls became the prince princess of Krishna family who make their consciousness very high like God consciousness in their previous birth i.e in present time through Rajyog meditation. In this age, the central gravitational forces of the cosmic world and the earth were balanced and zero. In the Golden age, the Aether energy was continuously flowing from the cosmic to the physical world through white hole due to which nature was fully charged with Golden particles. Due to continuous Aether energy flow on the earth, the living world was in its highest form of purity. The centre of gravity of the earth and the sky was in one direction due to which sun and moon were rotating above the earth in clockwise direction. In this period the speed of light was very slow due to which day and night period was of 21and 21 hours each in Lemuria and 18-18 hours each in Atlantis world. Also, sky was rotating very slowly because of less density of the universe and this scenario was continued till 2500 years in the Golden and Silver ages. In this period our serpent power was in crown centre as we were in soul conscious state due to which there was a continuously flow of Aether energy through Pole star and complete planetary system was following the thought orders of the World emperor.

At the starting of Golden age, there was bulk quantity of mercury all around the core of the earth due to which core was charging continuously by Aether energy and resulted in to production of earth’s strongest magnetic field. In this period, the earth magnetic moment was produced through Monopole and its entire energy centers were concentrated at the centre of the core. There were no meridian and equator on the earth and its land and water distribution was like lotus shape. The sea water was pure, crystal clear and clean. After this massive destruction of Atlantis on earth, Anunnakies build many pyramids on earth lay line, so that earth core can get Aether energy to balance the energy grid of earth. At the same time, there was formation of two black holes one in space above the earth and other one below the earth due to which there was formation of electrical insulator material inside the core at the centre. The core of the earth which was monopole got divided into two poles, due to which there was formation of two separate electromagnetic fields and hence the sky element at the center got divided into two parts. As there is formation of two black holes above and below the earth’s surface, the sky element got divided into two parts and it was found to be sinking. One part of the sky was from main meridian to the North Pole in which the light particles were moving in an anti clockwise direction similar to that of anti clockwise rotation of earth’s magnetic field. In the South Pole sky, the light particles were moving in clockwise direction similar to that of clockwise rotation of earth’s magnetic field. The gravitational force became higher from the Copper to Iron age due to which the sky element got tilted by 700 to 800 with respect to earth. In the Golden age, the earth’s gravitational field was 100 percent and unified as monopole. In the Copper age, the monopole was broken into two parts and acted as a dipole. The earth’s core was unable to get sufficient amount of Aether energy hence its internal structure started changing. The core of the earth started discharging and resulted into geological and ecological imbalances on the earth. The central gravity of the cosmic world which was zero converted into gravitational force with respect to the earth’s and to balance these changes GOD had to create a subtle region between physical and cosmic world.

In the Copper age, 7 stars -Saptarishis which were in single straight line got disturbed and spread in different directions. There was effect of zodiac and planets on the DNA of human beings and also on their birth charts. The planets and stars had started transforming our lives. Aether energy used to structures our DNA and created our physical body. The serpent power was in crown center in the Golden age, it shifted in heart center in the Copper age and in the Iron age(now) it is in the root center.

We souls were in zero vision in the Golden and Silver ages, in narrow vision in Copper and Iron ages and in aero vision in confluence age. In the Golden and Silver ages these different powers in one’s hand and in the Copper and Iron ages, these different powers were split and divided into many hands due to which we became unhappy and restless. In the Golden age, the earth was like a lotus shape and became optical radical in the Copper age hence seen like a round shape and in future, it will become like lotus shape again.

At the start of Copper age, when we became impure, there were changes in the DNA structure, formation of black hole in human brain as well as at the centre of neurons. At the end of cosmic cycle, all the black holes would be evaporated and DNA would become 100 percent pure. There is a mechanism to keep Aether energy flow continuously in our body. As the time passed, this mechanism got disturbed and remained only known 10 percent and rest 90 percent unknown in which all our past memories and actions was stored. The temperature of the earth will reach to 10lakhs degree Celsius due to which it will act like as it a small sun has appeared on the earth.

 

Due to huge temperature on the earth all elements, human beings, animals, objects, rocks, mountains and even land of different continents will start melting. Also, the silicon which is present all around the core of the earth will be converted into mercury by the power from nuclear explosions. This process will be completed through two triangular regions present on the earth i.e. Bermuda and Formosa triangles. These two triangular regions are direct opening to the core of the earth and are only covered with water. The gravitational force at these regions is very high due to which aero planes and ships entering into them pulled inside the earth. Hence, these triangular regions are known as Devil’s sea.When all around the core there will be presence of mercury, the earth’s core will start absorbing Aether energy and it will get charged with tremendous power which can drive the core up to the next 5000 years cycle. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE YEARS AGO… George Washington (GW) Johnson was standing where I was standing Sunday in Mount Hope, in White Church Cemetery. This abode of rest is not far from the airport, and the famous Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum which was my whole reason for being in the city.

  

And yet, I was here.

  

Right there, right where George once stood, broken, as he watched his precious wife, Maggie, get lowered into her grave.

  

Their love story had come to this bitter end, folks.

  

And the couple had been married less than a year.

  

Less than a year? Couldn’t have been much of a love story?

  

Oh, but it was. Their unusual love (which would be highly forbidden in today’s leftist victim-maker caldron) had actually been a whirlwind romance for over a half decade.

  

It had even began innocently enough.

  

In 1859, George, a fresh graduate of U of T, arrived to teach at S.S. #5 Glanbrook, in Hamilton, Ontario.

  

At 21, George was tall, dark, and handsome.

  

And incomplete.

  

Shortly into his very first year of teaching, George found himself irresistibly drawn to one of his brightest students, Maggie Clark.

  

Right here, alarm bells, definitely not school bells, would be going off in every phoney social justice warrior’s brainwashed mind. Teacher and student?! Pairing up?!?! Every normal person out there knows there are exceptions to the rules, and here was surely one.

  

Although Maggie was three years his junior, and still a high school student, the young Clark girl proved to be quite receptive to her teacher’s very clear overture of affection. Soon enough, she too, was in love.

  

The informal courtship began, slowly, after class hours were over.

  

The couple would be seen walking long distances together, talking and laughing, strolling along the banks of 20 Mile Creek. Lost in companionship these two had all the time in the world.

  

The pair would also show up elsewhere, for instance, at the Glanford Glee Club to participate in community singing activities there. Well … that is, of course, when they weren’t singing together with family and friends at Maggie’s place, the very Clark household itself!

  

Yes, these residents of Upper Canada (there was no Canada then) were indeed young, and had their whole lives before them, lives full of hope—and promise.

  

Maggie soon graduated from high school and went off to Wesleyan College in Hamilton, while George was off to study in New York.

  

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they say, and that was the case for this couple. And later, when they both returned to Glanbrook at the end of their studies, those lovebirds picked up right where they had left off.

  

Walks, friends, relatives gathered again, at the Clark house for sweet nights of music and singing … and then undeservedly—disaster struck.

 

Maggie had a cough that wouldn’t go away. Without saying a word, soon everyone knew in that small community, that Maggie somehow, somewhere (likely at Wesleyan) had contracted the dreaded GWP pandemic.

  

Most people then didn’t recover from the “Great White Plague”, as they called it, or TB (as we call it today), but there were a few who did.

  

Maybe Maggie would.

  

Not to be put off, or let the onset of a malicious disease dictate their lives, in the early months of 1864 George proposed marriage, and Maggie gushed out her “yes”. The well-known local couple were now engaged in spite of all the dark clouds of uncertainty approaching them on the horizon.

  

Now unfortunately, for this new time together, Maggie could be fine for a time but then unfailingly she would resume having her distressing bouts of TB sickness. Severe coughing with blood. Chest pains. Night chills. And her endless fatigue.

  

During one such severe bout of illness, George was so distraught over his fiancee’s suffering that he walked from Maggie’s on Nebo Road (near to where Munro Hamilton International Airport is today) right to Hamilton’s mountain brow, overlooking the city! An enormous distance of about 17 kilometres back then! And right there, at the mountain brow of Hamilton, in the midst of his grief, he started to pen his soon-to-be-famous poem, ”When You and I Were Young, Maggie” (see, far below).

  

Incidentally, by 1906, just a few miles west of this point on the Mountain, Hamilton would open up the Chedoke Sanatorium specifically for people with TB!

  

These infected and publicly shunned people (people knew in the early 1900s how contagious TB was, while they didn’t know in Maggie’s time) could live their lives at Chedoke, grow their own vegetables, etc. while remaining quarantined from the general populace. That very Hamilton facility would be credited with saving the entire Inuit population of the Near North as over 1,200 Inuit took up residence there in the 1950s to get well again. The facility’s arrival, however, would come forty years too late to save Maggie.

  

George’s romantic and rosy poem … of his and Maggie’s tender love, entitled “When You and I Were Young, Maggie”… looks ahead, written as if George and Maggie had been together a whole lifetime, and had already grown old together. In the poem they reminisce about how things once were… back in the day…when they were young.

  

George was hoping against hope, penning this, I think, that somehow, Maggie would beat the odds. Love hopes and expects. Because, remember, even then some folks did recover, even back when medical treatments were so crude.

  

And Maggie did have a recovery of sorts…for a while.

  

Rising to that occasion, George and Maggie were married on October 21, 1864 at Methodist Church, in Glanford Township (The church still stands to this day, and is now known as Case United Church).

  

George by then had packed it in as a teacher! GW had taken up journalism some time previous while still teaching, and had sought out various writing positions abroad. His search ended with an offer of employment from Cleveland City’s “Plain Dealer”!

  

So down to the USA George went, while Maggie temporarily remained in Canada.

  

With the passing of just a couple months, George confident he was secure in his new writing post … summoned his bride to Cleveland. That was early 1865. Now Mr. and Mrs. would finally set up house together, something couples usually do, right after they are married, but were denied this tradition when George went south to start his new job.

  

At long last—now they would be permanently together.

  

And things appeared to be working out, initially, as Maggie’s health had actually been stable for the first four months of the new year!

  

However, by May of 1865, it was evident that something was seriously wrong.

  

At this point Maggie’s health entirely unravelled.

  

With her tuberculosis no longer responding to any sort of medical treatment, and being only seven months into her marriage, far from family and friends, with only her husband by her side in a strange new land, Maggie breathed her last—on May 12.

  

She was just twenty-three years of age.

  

Their love story had come to this bitter end. TB had won.

  

George, not unexpectedly, was overwhelmed.

  

With the loss of his soulmate, he immediately resigned his position at the “Plain Dealer”, and returned with Maggie to Canada.

  

At some point he would resume teaching in Binbrook. He even married again.

  

And since life is often unfair, before long there would be another funeral!

  

And George attended.

  

Yes folks, unfortunately, on December 17, 1866…Maggie’s younger sister, Mary, died a spinster, also from the dreaded tuberculosis pandemic.

  

Likely she caught her TB helping to care for her older sister, Maggie, in their Nebo St. family residence that is still there today (but is now a private residence). Mary is buried alongside the famous Maggie, and both her parents, at the obscure family plot in White Church Cemetery on the Mountain.

  

I wonder what George thought as he looked at both sisters now in their graves.

  

Life marches on, and soon George’s tender love poem would achieve worldwide acclaim after it was set to music by J.A. Butterfield in 1866. J.A. happened to be a friend of George’s. Several famous musicians of the time would sing the lover’s song and each one turned it into a hit.

  

Even the great and legendary Perry Como would cover it, and make it a hit yet again, some 90 years later!

  

Amidst all this fame, and this tragic tale of young Canadian love … it’s unsettling and unfortunate that a forlorn, weather-beaten family plot marker (see pictorial above - far right) is all that points us to this largely forgotten Canadian love story. This “George and Maggie” story really is Canada’s “Romeo and Juliet”, with the exception being the lovers’ only antagonist was the dreaded disease of tuberculosis. There was no family or community opposition to these lovers back then, like there would be today with the current crowd of SJW dodos.

  

And TB as their only antagonist was slowly, and eventually enough, to permanently separate these newlyweds forever.

  

But George’s and Maggie’s antagonist today—the entity who seems to be most against the wonderful remembrance of these two former residents…is the City of Hamilton, itself! Expressed shabbily through that city’s poor (non-existent) historical representation at the actual gravesite of the historic Maggie.

  

Contrast that lousiness with the treatment of another famous Canadian poet in Guelph, Ontario!

  

A park beside the former homestead of poet/soldier/doctor John McCrae of “In Flander’s Fields” fame, has a stone and large bronze monument. At the very centre of this edifice is McCrae’s solemn world famous poem, etched in eternal bronze, for all visitors to read. And reflect upon.

  

Meanwhile, the City Hamilton, a city five times the size of nearby Guelph, entirely marginalizes its’ own history and along with that … Canada’s most tragic love story.

  

Wonder why no one in Canada, or very few, know the quiet and beautiful, but ultimately tragic tale of George and Maggie? Or why is there no Hollywood movie?!

  

Well, folks … look no further than Hamilton City Hall and how the Council has prioritized that very early Canadian memory.

  

They haven’t.

  

Back to Guelph, folks—if one is curious to see how another Canadian city does get their remembrances right.

  

Go to McCrae House in Guelph, at 108 Water Street and see what I alluded to, earlier.

  

That’s a serious and worthy remembrance.

  

On every Valentine’s Day, George’s poem should be read to the Canadian masses, in remembrance of true love.

  

Now, I am going to say something for lovers only.

  

Always ignore the jaded, and the spent.

  

Make that a rule.

  

But, there’s something else. There is something to be said … for standing at Maggie’s gravesite, and being able to read George’s tender poem of a young lover's wishfulness…written in grief but transformed into hope. His wife faced with a pernicious illness, what could the young George do to provide any relief to her suffering? So he wrote this poem to her. The troubled present became the far conquered past. It was a trick of the mind. A re-ordering to see things from a fresh perspective. A most noble poetic effort to console his ailing love.

 

In their heart of hearts they knew I’m sure, or were pretty sure of the eventual “Shadowlands” ending, but would George give up or walk away? No. Instead, he took the high road and walked alongside Maggie toward whatever future they would have together. Theirs was a bittersweet love. It was for better, or, for worse, before the vows.

 

A frank and sobering lesson for many in today’s age, where people find themselves disposable…or only a means to an end.

 

I repeat, THIS LEGENDARY CANADIAN POEM, is not for the jaded, or the superficial, or the cynical, or for mockers, or for the beaten ~

St Andrew Undershaft, Leadenhall Street, London

 

From the Old London Churches series of postcards published in the early 20th Century by HR Allenson of Paternoster Row.

 

In the Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight sequence of novels by Henry Williamson, the young Phillip Maddison works at the Moon Fire Office in Leadenhall Street at the time this photograph was taken.

 

This late Gothic church, completed right on the eve of the Reformation, must be one of the most photographed churches in the City. People come to snap the Gherkin or the Leadenhall building, and quickly notice they can get St Andrew Undershaft in as well. This juxtaposition of the old and the new is very pleasing, and the internet is awash with photographs of it. This does disguise the fact, however, that St Andrew is actually quite a big building, dwarfed as it is by the leading lights of London's better-known skyscrapers crowding around it.

 

The church famously gets its epithet from the maypole which was on the green beside it before being destroyed by rabid protestants in 1547. The mad gothick at the top of the tower dates from the 1880s and was the work of one Chatfeild Clarke. Whatever was he thinking of? Rhineland castles, probably, which just goes to show what you get when you have an over-enthusiastic architect and a client with more money than taste.

 

As with near neighbours St Helen's Bishopsgate and St Ethelburga, this church survived both the Great Fire and the firestorm of the Blitz. Unlike its neighbours, it only suffered minor damage from the massive terrorist bombs of 1992 and 1993, and so this is one of the City's few reasonably intact medieval churches.

 

I'm still to get inside this church. On the last two occasions I visited it was under refurbishment for the use of the busy evangelical congregation up the road at St Helen's Bishopsgate. I suspect that we won't get a repeat of Quinlan Terry's attempt to turn that church into an operating theatre after the IRA bombs, but I look forward to finding out - watch this space.

The notorious Burma-Siam railway, built by Commonwealth, Dutch and American prisoners of war, was a Japanese project driven by the need for improved communications to support the large Japanese army in Burma. During its construction, approximately 13,000 prisoners of war died and were buried along the railway. An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 civilians also died in the course of the project, chiefly forced labour brought from Malaya and the Dutch East Indies, or conscripted in Siam (Thailand) and Burma (Myanmar). Two labour forces, one based in Siam and the other in Burma worked from opposite ends of the line towards the centre. The Japanese aimed at completing the railway in 14 months and work began in October 1942. The line, 424 kilometres long, was completed by December 1943. The graves of those who died during the construction and maintenance of the Burma-Siam railway (except for the Americans, whose remains were repatriated) were transferred from camp burial grounds and isolated sites along the railway into three cemeteries at Chungkai and Kanchanaburi in Thailand and Thanbyuzayat in Myanmar. Thanbyuzayat became a prisoner of war administration headquarters and base camp in September 1942 and in January 1943 a base hospital was organised for the sick. The camp was close to a railway marshalling yard and workshops, and heavy casualties were sustained among the prisoners during Allied bombing raids in March and June 1943. The camp was then evacuated and the prisoners, including the sick, were marched to camps further along the line where camp hospitals were set up. For some time, however, Thanbyuzayat continued to be used as a reception centre for the groups of prisoners arriving at frequent intervals to reinforce the parties working on the line up to the Burma-Siam border.

Lancaster I W4187 crashed on Skallingen on 1/10-1942.

 

The aircraft belonged to RAF 44 Sqn. Bomber Command and was coded KM-S.

T/O 18:00. OP: Wismar.

 

Outbound W4187 was coned by a 150 cm searchlight from 4./Batt.M.Flak.A.204 when approaching Skallingen. When trying to escape the light it hit the ground and exploded at 21:19 hours approx. two kilometres north of the searchlight position.

 

The crew of seven died and were laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery, Esbjerg on 7/10-1942. They were Pilot F/O James D.V.S.Stephens, Flt. Engr. Sgt Norman E. Dowden, Observer F/O John E. Tate, Air Bomber F/Sgt P. Hereford, W/Op Sgt. Robert E.W.Williamson, Air Gnr. F/Sgt Charles G. Nugent and Rear Gnr. F/Sgt Herbert R. Rowe. They were placed in six graves and only after the war identified as being a crew of seven.

The notorious Burma-Siam railway, built by Commonwealth, Dutch and American prisoners of war, was a Japanese project driven by the need for improved communications to support the large Japanese army in Burma. During its construction, approximately 13,000 prisoners of war died and were buried along the railway. An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 civilians also died in the course of the project, chiefly forced labour brought from Malaya and the Dutch East Indies, or conscripted in Siam (Thailand) and Burma (Myanmar). Two labour forces, one based in Siam and the other in Burma worked from opposite ends of the line towards the centre. The Japanese aimed at completing the railway in 14 months and work began in October 1942. The line, 424 kilometres long, was completed by December 1943. The graves of those who died during the construction and maintenance of the Burma-Siam railway (except for the Americans, whose remains were repatriated) were transferred from camp burial grounds and isolated sites along the railway into three cemeteries at Chungkai and Kanchanaburi in Thailand and Thanbyuzayat in Myanmar.

This is the blurb that goes with the sculpture. I made it for Kevin Roberts who is the worldwide CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi (you can see why I nearly fell off my chair when his PA first contacted me about the commission). He has a residence in Grasmere in the Lake District. But his main home is in New Zealand and he asked me to create something that connected with Maori culture.

 

Tendril Spiral – by Richard Shilling

 

The Maori koru is a spiral shape based on the unfurling of a silver fern frond and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace. The circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, the cycle of life, whilst the inner coil suggests a return to the point of origin. Nature is an endless cycle of birth, growth, procreation and death. What decays becomes the food for new life as the cycle repeats itself forever.

 

The symbolism of the koru matches up exactly with themes I regularly depict in my art. I use different symbols to depict these themes so in this sculpture I have drawn together both the Maori and my own symbols to express the cycle of life. I hope that in some way this links your home in Grasmere to your home in New Zealand by bringing together my ideas about nature and those in Maori culture as they are universal themes shared by all humans.

 

I find the seasonal changes when autumn fades into winter and spring fades into summer are barely noticeable but when summer turns to autumn and winter turns to spring then I feel those times within my core. I believe we are hard-wired to feel these changes as we either prepare for the long dark winter or the season of growth and plenty. It is something in the air, the quality of the light, a feeling that is unmistakeable and it is this week that I have been feeling it and I expect you do too as you encounter the coolness of the mornings and the colour in the trees. The southern hemisphere must also be feeling a similar change as winter turns to spring. It is an auspicious time deeply entwined in what it means to be human. And as you have travelled from one hemisphere to another you have linked these two changes just as I have attempted to with the sculpture.

 

I have depicted the change in seasons with a circle in the centre, something I call a 'season wheel.' Four sections of coloured leaves brought together into a circle. Brown for winter, green for spring, yellow for summer and red for autumn and the circle depicts the endless cycle. The dark mud I have used as a canvas is the rotted leaf litter of the forest floor. What dies and rots on the ground, as the leaves fall during autumn and the damp and cold of winter reduce to thick mud, becomes the food, rich with nutrients for the new shoots of life that begin to unfurl during spring.

 

The materials I have used bring together what is beautiful about the North West of England. The slate slab was quarried at Kirkstone pass, just over the hill from Grasmere. This piece of stone is very resonant and when I had it on wooden rollers it rang like a glockenspiel when struck, unfortunately the stones holding it in place have deadened this but it is a fine piece of stone aptly telling the story of the geology of the Lake District. The silver birch bark was collected from Grizedale woods near Lancaster, dense and beautiful woodland. The mud was gathered from a central point in the Forest of Bowland. Rich, dark and moist, it is the perfect soil for the myriad of plants and trees that grow there. And lastly the leaves. A yellow and green rhododendron leaf picked from different shrubs in Fenham Carr next to Standen and Williamson Park in Lancaster. A red Pieris Japonica leaf picked from the garden in Grasmere and a brown rhododendron leaf found on the ground. Four materials from Lancaster and the surrounding area and three from the Lake District.

 

And finally the sculpture has begun a new life itself. All my sculptures are ephemeral and are subject to the whims of the weather and elements. Each mud sculpture I create is different and the wind, sun and rain (as well as slugs, snails and worms) all have a different effect. The last one I made was complete just before a two week period of hot weather, followed by strong winds and then heavy rain. This meant that the sun and wind dried and cracked the mud before the rain washed it away. Before that it rained for ages and my mud sculptures also endured as the dampness kept them intact. Their life and decay is dictated by the conditions it encounters. What will happen with this? Will it be damp and last for months? Will the sun be strong and dry it and crack it?

 

It is my hope that this sculpture brings together all of these things. I hope that it lives up to your expectations and that you enjoy it. Thanks for the opportunity. It has been a very enjoyable experience for me.

Distribution: Generally east of the Rocky Mountains from Florida to Ontario, but also known from eastern Arizona.

Identification: The head of the male is pale blue anterior to the ocelli and black behind the ocelli with a stripe extending forward to the base of each antennae. The pale blue occipital spots are sometimes connected. The lower lateral third and ventral parts of the pterothorax are pale yellow becoming pruinose and obscured with age. The black thoracic markings however are never obscured. The middorsal carina is narrowly outlined with black. The humeral suture is a hairline black stripe widening above and below, but more so anteriorly. The legs are pale, darkly marked with black on the outer surfaces of the femora and the inner surfaces of the tibiae and tarsi. The abdominal color pattern is black dorsally on segments 1-7, except for pale blue basal rings on segments 3-7. Segments 8-10 are uniformly pale blue over their entire length. The ventrolateral areas of these segments are black. The cerci are short and blunt when viewed laterally, but when viewed posteriorly two decurved hooks are visible. The paraprocts extend out beyond the cerci, but both are shorter than or subequal in length to segment 10. The paraprocts are distinctly bifid. The head of the female is similarly colored to the male. The dark humeral stripe is usually thin, as in the male, but occasionally it may extend to the mesepimeron. The mesostigmal plates lack posterior lobes, but when viewed laterally the anterior carina is usually visible. Mesepisternal tubercles are small or lacking. The legs are similarly colored to the males. The abdominal color pattern is similar to the male, but often with more extensive black markings. Segments 8-10 are black dorsally, each with a dark dorsolateral stripe.

Similar Species: Blue-tipped Dancer (A. tibialis) has abdominal segment 8 black. Female Powdered Dancers (A. moesta) look very similar, but are larger. All other dancers will have a broader middorsal thoracic stripe.

 

Habitat: Large rivers and occasionally streams, lakes or ponds.

 

Discussion: A study of a population of this species, residing at a small pasture pond in Marshall County, Oklahoma, found that males and females reached reproductive age at an average of 8.4 and 7.0 days, respectively with maximum activity occurring at noon. Males were at the water 44% of the days they lived and females only 20%; however, males only mated on 20% of these days and females 89%. Repeat matings, in both sexes, were rare. The movement from roosting sites to the water was characterized by a random shifting, with males arriving at the water earlier than females and spacing themselves at six-foot intervals. Mating occurred a short distance from the main concentration of males and lasted 16 minutes. Females were gregarious laying eggs, either in tandem (75% of the time) or alone, in willow roots, boards and sticks. Further study revealed that males occurred in two color phases: bright blue and a gray-black, and that color change could not be correlated positively with age or reproduction. In the same study, females occurred in three color phases: brown, turquoise and gray-black. Further observations in the field have revealed that the gray-black phase is a temporary color change that occurs during mating and at cool temperatures. Males live more than a month and exhibit intra- and interspecific competition, flicking their wings as a warning to intruders in their territory. On hot days they thermoregulate by raising their abdomen to a 60° angle, reducing the surface area exposed to the sun. Variable thoracic stripe patterns are seen in individuals along the periphery of the species’ southeastern distribution, with both a broad-striped form, having a wide full-length humeral stripe, and the more typical form with a reduced pattern, as seen in the south-central United States.

Camp. Randy, Aysel, Tom, Ania, and Abbey settle in to dinner.

 

We arrived with over four hours of daylight to spare, so our evening in camp was a wonderful, relaxed affair.

 

Let me declare here forthwith that our entire hike up Williamson Creek was more or less a complete pleasure. How this drainage has earned the reputation it has, moreover, based on obviously very, very few passages, is a mystery. Yes, a trail is still easier, and yes, progress was slow, but I don't think a single one of us had a single complaint. There were definitely a few bruises and scrapes and cuts to go around, but nothing out of the ordinary. I think any one of us would repeat it without hesitation.

 

It is wild, beautiful, peaceful, and free of people. Total Eastern Sierra immersion. It doesn't get much better than this.

Yesterday a light went out that rekindled the flame of storytelling in Scotland. Truly he is the teacher that has meant more to me than any other, whose phrases I repeat more than any other when called on to get to the heart of the matter, who taught me to judge things with a different eye and who most of all taught me what makes a good story? the listener. A thousand lesser lights burn more brightly or like me found their spark because of him. I grieve and yet have the sense a force immeasurable has ben released like the flight of doves and am grateful

That night I started the ball rolling by climbing unaided from the kitchen floor to the loft. Mr Seaton unwisely offered a shilling to those who could repeat the performance. He was six shillings out of pocket in as many minutes before he closed the offer. [I have no remembrance of this other than this account] At eleven O’clock in the evening the party was made complete by the arrival of C Taylor, P Williams and G R Williamson.

 

On Thursday we set out to do them Snowdon Horseshoe. Messrs. Stodart and Podger departed with fewer followers than before and Harvey followed them up the PYG (Pen y Goured) Track with quite a large party. Before we ascended into the mist the photographers had a most satisfying shot across the Glyders and down the Llanberis Pass.

 

The mist was damp and the wind cold but by the time we had struggled up the long steep final pitch of the PYG Track we were very hot indeed and thirsty too. On the summit ridge we were most disappointed to find that the mist was thick and seemingly determined to stay that way. We only had one fleeting glimpse of the train labouring up from Llanberis before the mist closed in and remained clamped down until we left the summit.

 

We arrived at the summit hotel an hour behind Podger, whose party soon left to find the path on to Lliwedd.
