For Macro Mondays' "High Key" theme. The spool is about 1 1/8" long and 15/16" in diameter. Background is a sheet of packing foam. One flash lit the spool a second at 1/128 power skimmed the background. This is a 3 shot focus stack with each image manually focused at a key point. Stacked in Photoshop.
The price shown is 15 cents (USA)
I think, I am a watch freak. When I was yet into photography, I used to buy watches and just kept them. Funny but I have clocks everywhere in the house. From bedrooms to bathrooms. That may be has something to do with my being time conscious. So to sum up, in my collection, I have the cheap, the cheaper and the cheapest - hahaha. That's all that it takes to collect a good number of it.
For Macro Monday's "Open" theme. Back when portable drills were truly cordless, the spare bits were stored in the handle. The red knob is 1 1/2" in diameter

Day 2 of having my new cat.
I was watching "Saving Private Ryan" and my new cat seemed to freak out due to the storm/bomb sounds in the movie. He fled the area and went to the spot he seems to have adopted as his "Panic Room", a cupboard under a drawer....
Having noticed this spot before, I busted out a couple of flashes and popped them inside after about my 4th time checking in on him. (I'd pulled him out, and he went back in to the same spot earlier...)
During much of his first night in his new home, my apt, he cried, and was very unsettled. This past night, his second, in my apt he adjusted incredibly.
I still haven't picked a name for him, but I'm working on it.
Lady Rose getting a little freaky on the beach at sunset. As you can probably guess, this was a very entertaining shoot and the weather conditions definitely were in out favour. And Rose was a great model who knows how to find the light and to create great poses.
"Severely endangered because of habitat loss and illegal capture. There are only about 200 golden-headed lion tamarins in the wild."
From nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/SmallMammals/fact-goldheadlion...
(flash technique: "strobe on a rope" + abbc)
updated - This was shot inside. The ones that are outside are Golden Lion Tamarins, this is a Golden-Headed Lion Tamarin...
Fortunately no person or fairy was harmed in the taking of this photo. Abby, with body paint, was brave enough to stand near the sparks of the burning steel wool and survived to tell the tale. A great way to end a night taking photos on the beach.
OK SO. A ceiling fan will support the weight of a D700 without falling. Good!
Lighting: SB-900 at the bottom-right of the photo, at this point. Snooted and gridded and pointed at my stupid head.
All-natural blur, no Photoshop (at all!) Setup here. View it in HIGH DEFINITION here. Heh!
More info here, at my desperately-needing-a-redesign blog!

Another one from tonight's workshop with Abby emerging from this tunnel on the beach with some pretty amazing body paint. A lot of fun doing this shoot!
Getting a little crazy with some flammable material and some burning steel just after sunset at Beaumaris beach.
This shot took me about 400 attempts to get, was doing it manually with a water dropper, so wish I had a splash kit!, who says photography is easy!!

Foxglove in the rain. Another rainy weekend day, but after the drought we had last year, most of us don't mind. It might help protect us from the fires we have had in other parts of the Province, Country and Continent.

Remote flash inside the safe and light painted around the safe during a 20 second exposure.
Taken in an abandoned derelict pub in Shropshire.
I`m noticing almost every year now that August is almost certain to be a washout? More consistant with rain, more frequent and more powerful thunder storms and a frequent drop in temperatures, it could be far worse but are these events real changes in our climate in the UK? Makes for fantastic Photography opportunities though.
Yes, because you borrowed my favorite shirt and you refused to return it.
So, I will never take you out of my mind. ahihihi

Lighting
SB-900 through white umbrella camera right, high. Gelled tungsten. SB-800 behind the happy couple, no modifier (wait... no - I think it had the diffuser dome on it) and no gel, to get that blue feel. All triggered with Nikon's fancy-pants CLS.
SB-800 camera left, reflecting off white board on right.
Snooted and gridded SB-900 camera right (at table).

So I had another idea. One take. Lots of practice shots. One misfire - camera didn't trigger, but luckily the bulb didn't break!
Strobist: SB-900 into reflective umbrella, camera left. 1/64 power, triggered with Hiviz sound trigger and ebay remote.
In Explore so briefly that Scout didn't pick it up :)
Happy Halloween.

(For this months camera club competition. Theme: "Bokeh").
Softbox camera right.
Reflector camera left.

Take the path less traveled... and find second chances.
Everyone will have a unique experience of life, so I will simply share what I've learned: an apparent failure in life may actually be a second chance. And that second chance may, in fact, be the path you were supposed to take in the first place.
Persevere with diligence...

So glad to have a little more time and no homework to turn in this weekend. The kind of homework I have almost every weekend. The kind of homework that takes hours and pages to do, that devours my entire Sunday.... and keeps me out of the sunlight. I hope I do something constructive and uplifting with my extra time.
I had fun with this one.
Lighting setup for subject:
Nikon SB-600 (Left-key): Through white umbrella, 24mm zoom, manual 1/2 power, ~5 ft in front of and ~1 feet above subject..
Nikon SB-600 (Right-fill): Bounced off opposite wall and ceiling, 24mm zoom, manual 1/64 power, ~5 ft to right of subject..
Both remote flashes triggered via Nikon CLS..
I do always appreciate your feedback/comments/constructive criticisms. :).
This was a very tiny weed flower and used a reversed lens to magnify the image. I did not even know that there was a water drop in it until after a shot was taken.

Hey, another enormous "THANKS" for all the comments, faves, invites, etc, on the previous photo.
I've been super busy due to starting a new job....been pretty much tied up the entire week, so looks like Flickr will have to be a once-a-week thing... other than the holidays... and until things slow down.....
Have a great weekend (whatever's left of it).
[Explored, November 23, 2010, #36] ---Thanks again all! :)
