The BBC had a small studio within the war room complex for the radio addresses by Churchill. This is 1940's vintage BBC Outside Broadcast (OB) equipment. OBA/8 amplifier, a key-switch unit and a MX/18 mixer. The signal was delivered by dedicated phone lines to Broadcasting House. Britain's World War Two Cabinet War Rooms.

A compact 1 Rack Unit mixer is hard to come by that is both high quality and flexible. These Electro Voice ELX-1A/B/ and R's (3 versions, plus a portable one) were discontinued well over 10 years ago. I've been snapping them up on ebay for about $25 each, and re-conditioning them. They feature a transformer in the output circuit, have phantom power, and sound remarkable.
