Back in May of 2022, an HL-X crew was heading west through Remington, Indiana with a trio of GP50s. Earlier, this trio had run lite power from Effner to Hoosier Lift to pick-up Peoria bound traffic. They then ran back to Effner, grabbed some additional Peoria traffic, and continued west to La Hogue, staging the train for a Peoria crew to run as an M-EFEP. Shooting a straight east-west mainline in late spring and summer isn't ideal, as seen here. But the trio of GP50s was nice to see.
The eastern part of the TPW between Effner and Logansport is former PRR track that Conrail dumped very early on. TPW purchased this from Conrail to secure their eastern connection, which has proven to be quite the strategic asset.
This wider view, while a little odd, shows some of Remington's local landmarks. On the far left is the Sacred Heart Catholic Church steeple, built in 1900. Next to that is the water tower built in 1897, which has a wooden tank on a brick pedestal. Finally, on the right is the imposing concrete construction elevator built cira-1955 and closed in 2018. I have heard that this facility will be demolished. But I have not verified this myself nor have I found anything about it online.
Macro Mondays Inheritance theme. Father in laws machine used for school and business many years ago. Shot it dirty then clean but I like the detail of the grunge in this one. Processed to HDR in post.

Very interesting little museum, unfortunately difficult to take photos as each machine is enclosed in its own little cubbyhole and the keys are mostly protected by plastic covers so you get reflections. In the café there are some old typewriters you can work on, but my fingers are no longer strong enough to bash on the keys.
