Salve Zumbi!
Brazilans in all the country were celebrating today their roots and history.
The day has special meaning for Afro-Brazilians, who honor Zumbi as a hero,
freedom fighter and a symbol of freedom. Only at São Paulo city, about 12.000 people were protesting against racism and marching to celebrate this day.
This image was made in the Release Day Celebration, at Contagem, Minas Gerais state. It's a piece of a work in progress I'm developing about a strong black community that keep their traditions alive since the days of slavery.

Bowie in my mailbox this morning :-) Playing a new album from the great man for the first time is always an event for me. My personal "iPod Unboxing" experience...but the product lasts a lifetime. Hertfordshire, UK. Friday, January 8, 2016.
A curious Best Buy customer, who had not been in line to buy an iPad, inspects one of the display units.
So this is a shot from a brand-new (to me and the world) Nikon D610.
So new, I am forced to RAW + JPEG
That is all.
Its 5 o'clock . . . its the Apple store . . . and its crackerjack . . . .
The doors are open - the crowd is surging - everyone is getting pretty excited - I might have let out a tiny bit of pee at this point.
That mob that you see on the far left is people showing up at 5pm hoping to bag an iPad 2. This is the tail end of about 6 million people standing in Buchanan Street (my figures might be ever so slightly out, but its close).
the long-awaited and much anticipated american release of super smash brothers brawl for the nintendo wii was today.
many game stores nationwide opened at 12:01am, sunday for gamers eager to play. there was even an online tournament for those who registered on saturday, and played, i imagine, starting at the 12:01am release.
lucky for daniel and jessica, their grandparents had reserved a copy for them. so, they get the "honor" of being able to say they got one on the release day and were among the first (few thousand) to play super smash brothers brawl the first day it was available.
Making their way up the spiral Stair to the collection desks. I didnt get a shot of it but the Genius bar was stacked high with sexy little white slimline boxes.
or warm, as it were... released today... We Are the Cat: Life Through the Eyes of the Royal Feline
I love how the author name on the spine is just "BAIN" like that, in all caps... no need for a first name there, right? Y'all know who that Bain character is.
Blessings and happy release day.
Apple fanboy being led to his moment of destiny. It might sound that I'm laying it on a bit thick now, but I'm getting tired writing captions that no-one is going to read.
Thats us around the corner and heading for the door. I dont think I can take the excitement any more.
For the sake of dramatic effect, lets pretend that half of what you are seeing isnt just the usual mob that crowds out Buchanan Street on a typical Friday night.
The dude on the far left (yeah the one in focus) is the other dude providing us with banter all day. Name also escapes me so you can be Apple dude 308.
This is the guy that we met in the queue and helped to keep our sanity. I hate to admit it but I cant remember your name - so lets call you Apple dude number 307.
A few crowd condensing shuffles later and we were part of the final stretch L shape heading for the doors. We just had to wait it out now.

The Apple staff have just walked through the queue taking eveyones orders, and handing out booking cards from a Pulp Fiction style briefcase. So we now know we definitely have an iPad 2 waiting for us. Time to celebrate by forcing a smile (trust me, it doesnt come easy).
Dont adjust your sets - the iPhone front facing camera isnt the best.
The proud owner of the 1st iPad 2 sold in Glasgow's Apple store.
Some say he was waiting out side the shop since 4pm the previous night. Some say he had been there since 7am the previous day. Some say he had didnt actually exist and was just a figment of our collective imagination.
Everyone turns to see the 1st iPad 2 emerge from Glasgow's Apple store.
Everyone except that guy staring at me taking his picture . . and the little girl also staring at me . . . and me of course because I'm taking the picture. LOOK . . you get the idea.
Time to break out the pocket coffee to keep us going. Jeeezzzuzzz what is that taste in my mouth. I can only guess that someone has swapped my coffee for liquid smoked tofu. Bleeeaarrghh.
ALMOST THERE!!!!!
We can hear some mumbling that Glasgows 1st iPad 2 purchase is about to exit the store.
Even though the queue was a sneaky Disney style double back it still wasnt too bad. Amid wide spread rumours of iPad 2 stock shortages we felt pretty confident that we had arrived early enough to bag one.
FedEx delivers a big batch of iPhone 4 on release day. Apple employees move the batch into the store.
