We just returned from a delightful stay in the lovely eastern part of the Netherlands.
Since December 2017 the train service there is operated by Blauwnet (belonging to the French Keolis group) - before that, it was handled by the Dutch Railways (NS). The change was a result of the decentralization/privatization of railway lines through public tenders.

A few minutes after the Crescent, Amtrak 156 pulls to a stop at Manassas behind an extra crusty P42. The 156 is part of the two sets of Northeast Regional trains Amtrak operates out of Roanoke, a popular and fast-growing area of business for Amtrak in the past decade.

Skogar Museum in Southern Iceland, is a cultural heritage collection of 18,000 regional folk craft artifacts exhibited in 3 museums and 6 historical buildings. The museum opened December 1st, 1949. It was founded on the initiative of Þórður Tómasson, who curated the museum since its inception until his retirement in 2013, at the age of 92. www.skogasafn.is/skogar-museum/

Une automotrice Z 5100 assurant l’omnibus 7444 se promène au-dessus de la Dordogne à Mareuil Le Roc. Loin de la région parisienne où elle a effectué la plus grande partie de sa carrière sur les banlieues de la gare de Lyon ou de la gare Montparnasse, cette Z 5100 profite de beaux paysages ruraux pendant ses dernières années de service.
A cette date, les trains omnibus (ou « régionaux ») étaient assurés par trois types d’automotrices appartenant à trois générations : les Z 4100, les Z 5100 et les Z 7300 aussi appelées Z2.
Du fait d’une bizarrerie administrative, la moitié gauche (nord) de ce pont et de la rivière sont dans le département de la Dordogne de la région Nouvelle Aquitaine alors que la moitié droite (sud) du pont et l’ile au premier plan sont dans le Département du Lot de la région Occitanie. Et 100 mètres plus loin à droite, la voie ferrée rentre de nouveau dans le département de la Dordogne.
Pour compliquer le tout, la commune s’appelle Le Roc, mais on trouve aussi l’appellation Mareuil ou Mareuil-le-Roc. Et la gare aujourd’hui disparue portait le nom de La Chapelle-de-Mareuil, alors qu’elle est située sur le territoire de la commune de Saint Julien de Lampon ! Quant au viaduc, son nom est simplement le viaduc de Mareuil.
Cette photo ressemble tout à fait aux photos en noir et blanc qui figuraient dans les compartiments des voitures voyageurs d’après-guerre dans un cadre argenté.

A Z 5100 electric multiple unit working all-stations train 7444 makes its leisurely way across the River Dordogne at Mareuil-le-Roc. Far from the Paris area, where it spent most of its career on suburban services on Paris Gare de Lyon and Paris-Montparnasse lines, this Z 5100 enjoys some fine rural scenery during its final years in service.
At the time, local all-stations (or ‘regional’) trains were worked by three types of EMU from three successive generations: the Z-4100s, Z-5100s and Z-7300s, the latter generally known as Z2s.
As a result of an administrative quirk, the left-hand (northern) half of both the bridge and the river lies in the Dordogne département, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, while the right-hand (southern) half of the bridge and the island in the foreground lie in the Lot département, in the Occitanie region. Just 100 metres farther to the right, the railway re-enters the Dordogne département.
To complicate matters further, the commune is called Le Roc, although the names Mareuil and Mareuil-le-Roc are also used. The now-vanished nearby station was called La Chapelle-de-Mareuil, despite being situated within the commune of Saint-Julien-de-Lampon! The viaduct, meanwhile, is known simply as the Mareuil Viaduct.
This photograph looks just like one of the black-and-white photographs once displayed in silver frames in the compartments of post-war passenger coaches.

SU46-051 with regional passenger train no. 90137 from Kościerzyna to Gdynia Główna Osobowa left Gołubie Kaszubskie station and continues towards Krzeszna passenger stop. We were waiting for ST44-hauled freight train and this one came first. June15, 2001.
I visited this place year or two ago and the vegetation here makes it impossible to take any decent photo.

SU46-051 z regionalnym pociągiem osobowym 90137 z Kościerzyny do Gdyni Głównej Osobowej opuścił stację Gołubie Kaszubskie i podąża do przystanku osobowego Krzeszna. Czekaliśmy na towara z gagarinem i ta osobówka przyjechała pierwsza. 15 czerwca 2001 roku.
Odwiedziłem tę miejscówkę rok czy dwa lata temu i muszę przyznać, że całkowicie zarosło i zrobienie tu podobnego zdjęcia jest raczej niewykonalne.

37422 "Robert F Fairlie" still carrying its Regional Railways livery makes a fine sight as it approaches Pontlottyn whist working 2R40 1646 Cardiff - Rhymney on the 2nd September 1999. 37422 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows and entered service as D6966 on February 11th 1965 and also carried the number 37266.

En la pasada primavera, como pudisteis ver en mi galeria, fui a pasar una semana a Hungria con el compañero Marc.
Entre muchisimos sitios a los que fuimos, y buenos recuerdos que me traje de cada uno, este, esta en primer lugar. El sitio en question esta al lado del pueblo de Komarno, en Eslovaquia. Donde pudimos ver y fotografiar gran variedad de material de la ZSSK, aun que esta 'Laminatka' se lleva la palma.

Situated slightly off the main long-distance railway axes, for a long time Krefeld had been the only major German city without long-distance traffic connections. Later, Deutsche Bahn donated the Krefelders one InterCity to Berlin every other day or so. Has this now improved!
