This is a Penn reel I use for surf fishing, for Macro Mondays theme "Gone Fishing". The image covers a width of about 2 inches of foreground.
In the 18th century, several attempts were made to develop a machine to replace "hand sewing." It wasn't until around 1830 that the first sewing machines appeared in sewing workshops, much to the dismay of manual workers, but the development of this new invention was unstoppable. Initially, these sewing machines used a chain stitch with a single thread, later evolving to a system with a loose bobbin at the bottom and a thread at the top; this is still used in most sewing machines today.

Macro Monday - Wood
These are miniature wooden cotton reels, from my craft stash, the smallest is about 2cm high and the largest about 5cm. HMM
I got locked out of my Flickr account today, I don't know if it was because I'm not on Flickr so much or if it was just being a bad panda but luckily after a while it recognised my password. Anyone else had this problem?

How the light plays on the overlapping thread
Ended up with a bit of all of the above.
Was never going to be an issue with finding thread in our house as my wife loves leatherwork and our son is off to Uni to study textile design!

When you reelize that all the slips on the fishing boat side of the harbor are being used and you have to park it with the private boats.

I saw my first ever Grasshopper Warbler last week it was a very brief view. This week I was lucky enough to see another one, this time I was able to get a number of shots of this secretive bird as it sung deep in the scrub.

A couple of years ago our state government decided to give every year five student a fishing rod and reel. This was the reel that came with Sarah's rod. We replaced it with a better quality reel.
The external diameter of this reel is 50mm.
A quick post and run as my physio appointment was changed from this morning to this afternoon so I have to 'hit the road' to Footscray shortly.

My contribution for this weeks Macro Mondays. My favourite thread for presents got to be my object for today sitting on its reel.
My favourite genre is Still Life and I'm hoping at some point I will be able to get back into the regular swing of it _ maybe I could get myself some sort of back support to avoid the inevitable aches and pains! I do find heat pads particularly soothing. Ha ha - forgive my ramblings - this is supposed to be about photography !
After watching a reel on Instagram with some tips on how to create artistic photography I decided to try some waterdroplet art.
After many attempts, I finally got an image I was pleased with.
The best result was using the macro lens on my phone.

Ce que je dénonçais à l'époque avec cette vieille photo est entrain de se produire. J'y ajoute un lien vers un documentaire ARTE à voir d'urgence et à partager massivement. Même si je trouve dommage de n'avoir pas plus approfondi sur les solutions qui pourraient exister.
Alors que nous sommes confinés, les ordonnances prises en application de la loi d’état d’urgence sanitaire autorisent les opérateurs téléphoniques à de nouvelles installations radioélectriques, la 5G, pour faire face à l’accroissement de l’usage du numérique. Cette dérégulation inquiète les associations de lutte contre les ondes d'autant qu'aucune étude sur le vivant n'a été réellement entreprise. Comme d'habitude on nous impose ces technologies en nous faisant miroiter que c'est nécessaire pour notre protection. Regardez le documentaire et vous comprendrez pourquoi les drones Chinois ont fait surface dans certaines grandes villes de France. Au nom du virus et du terrorisme, nous allons droit vers un monde totalitaire et inhumain.
