When I suggested 'Public Art' for the scavenger hunt I had no idea that Elephant Parade was coming to Southampton; it was only a chnace remark by my dentist that made me come home and google it. I'm so happy I didn't miss seeing these beautiful sculptures.

Elephant Parade® is a social enterprise and runs the world’s largest art exhibition of decorated elephant statues. Created by artists and celebrities, each Elephant Parade statue is a unique art piece. The life-size, baby elephant statues are exhibited in international cities and raise awareness for the need of elephant conservation.

I am back to posting ghost town photos from old slides that I scanned recently to create digital images. This photo of a ruin in Silver Reef, Utah was taken in 2005. Silver Reef has numerous stone ruins, a few intact buildings, and a museum in a restored Wells Fargo building. Although it was abandoned once it can no longer be called a ghost town because of several upscale homes among the ruins. Silver was discovered here in sandstone in 1866, which is a very rare combination. The town grew to about 2000 people but mines closed and most of the town was demolished or the buildings were moved by 1901. Even so, some of the remaining buildings were featured in the movies "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "The Electric Horseman"
Taken in Puhi Bay in Hilo while snorkeling. I will never snorkel there again! The top several feet of water is FREEZING fresh water. My family acted like dolphins and swam more underwater in the warm salt water only coming up to the cold surface water to breathe.
I have not posted anything on Flickr for a long time. Actually I have not uploaded anything anywhere for long long time but I thought I'll share some more. Lots has happened in the meantime. Here is a quick update. Not a drone, but a privately chartered helicopter at probably the best place of the great barrier reef - hardy reef. Feel free to leave a comment if you like the photo.
Silhouetted against the waves at Camel Rock, near Bermagui, southern NSW, this Eastern Reef Heron stood calmly on one leg surveying the wintery day.
Thomas reef is really a nice reef and I guess it is the reason why there are so many divers. But when this will not stop, there wont be this beauty for a long time.

If we lose our coral reefs to climate change, we'll lose some of the most wild and ancient animals on our planet. The caulastrea (pink) and Clavularia (blue) in our reef tank come from colonies that are over 50 million years old.
