Back to work after a long weekend I took the evening hours for a ride with the scooter of my son to take some shots. My tour went into the countryside of the Melle-Area in Lower Saxony. Enjoying the warm evening I read that this May is the warmest ever in recorded meteorological history. At least in Northwest Germany. Day temperatures in the mid-twenties and 10+ hours of sunshine are a pleasure for all of us. To be continued...

Maybe sometimes we got it wrong, but it's all right
The more things seems to change, the more they stay the same
Ooh, don't you hesitate
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans
I hope you get your dreams
Just go ahead, let your hair down
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

RIP, Don White, 11/26/21.
My uncle Don passed away this morning. He was the original record collector in our family, starting back in the 78 rpm era. He had the largest collection of music of anyone that I have personally known. This was just a small portion of his collection that he was able to take with him when he had to move into a retirement home. Keep that vinyl spinning...
Without the knife ,this could be just a close up of a rose ,so I drew a cutting knife to show how big the rose is.
First listened music (Opera classics) on one of these type of gramophones. I saw this last summer, wish I had purchased it, went back after 10 days and it was gone. I'm wandering if my grandchildren would know what it is?
We put an electric heater and a water bowl on our patio. I keep warm water in the bowl and the birds are sure enjoying it. Not a very good picture through the class and a screen.
Our area is not prepared for the weather we are having.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines.
So... My plan was to do badgers on the Mendips tonight, but they didn't show for what ever reason. Then I remembered the Nightjars were only a fifteen-minute drive away, so off I poodled.
I'd heard one out on the ridge the last time I was there, so I thought I better head in that direction. As I neared the top one flew right past me, I knew then I was in the right place. I stood and waited, but by then the cloud was coming over, and it was getting really dark really quickly, so I thought I'd bang it on the head, pick a better night and try again...
As I walked back to the fence line I could see a tiny blob about the size of a blackbird sat on a post, I couldn't quite make out what it was, so I put the pop-up flash on and hit the shutter button. 1/15 of a second was not ideal... had I thought about it, I could have changed the settings, walked up to the little fella (might even be a female as no obvious white on wing or tail outers) and got a better shot, but I was only thinking bird in flight captures... Anyway, I've now hatched a better plan... :@)
Well chuffed to see this 'unringed' bird fishing along the Cripps River as I was driving home this evening, especially after telling people for days, we'll have an osprey here by the end of the week and then not seeing one... Good job I wasn't looking the other way as I crossed the bridge, or I would have missed it.
The record shop on Brady in Tulsa, i noticed the chrome finish on one of the light bulds above the turntable so shot it and was excited to see the results!!!!

Record crowds lined the streets of Manchester to celebrate Chinese New Year and watch the city's famous Dragon Parade in what has been described as the busiest year yet. A huge 175ft long dragon, dancing lions and traditional Geisha artists were among the hundreds of participants in the parade through the city centre.
They were watched by thousands of people who crammed along Oxford Street, Portland Street and through China Town which were all closed to traffic for the celebration on Sunday. Naturally it was the dragon dancers - formed of two parts - that drew the biggest gasps from the hundreds of youngsters lining the streets with their families.
The dragons swept over and around the crowds chasing the "Pearl of Wisdom" - a large globe on a pole which is symbolic of the dragon chasing wisdom and knowledge. Manchester's civic dignitaries earlier bestowed the dragon with red ribbons to usher in good fortune.
2024 is the Lunar Year of the Dragon - which is a symbol of good luck, health and strength in Chinese culture. The reason why dragon dances are performed at the start of the Lunar New Year is because they are believed to chase away evil spirits and welcome in prosperous times.
City centre spokesman Pat Karney hailed it a "record year" for Chinese New Year celebrations saying: "The best ever Chinese New Year Celebrations. Record crowds have been treated to a feast of dance and musical performances and the Dragon had kids in absolute awe."

This Tufted Duck was spotted last week at the Western Treatment Plant. Believed to be the first time one has been sighted in Australia. Normally found in the Eurasian zone. Both shots taken on Saturday in windy grey conditions and from a long distance. Hopefully I will get back to WTP sometime this week and get some better shots.
'Mega crop' of this scarce spring visitor at Catcott today, presumably the one that was at Greylake a couple of days ago.

The Trifid Nebula (catalogued as Messier 20 or M20 and as NGC 6514) is an H II region located in Sagittarius. It was discovered by Charles Messier on June 5, 1764.[3] Its name means 'divided into three lobes'. The object is an unusual combination of an open cluster of stars; an emission nebula (the lower, red portion), a reflection nebula (the upper, blue portion) and a dark nebula (the apparent 'gaps' within the emission nebula that cause the trifurcated appearance; these are also designated Barnard 85). Viewed through a small telescope, the Trifid Nebula is a bright and peculiar object, and is thus a perennial favorite of amateur astronomers.[4]
The Trifid Nebula is a star-forming region in the Scutum spiral arm of the Milky Way.[5] The most massive star that has formed in this region is HD 164492A, an O7.5III star with a mass more than 20 times the mass of the Sun.[6] This star is surrounded by a cluster of approximately 3100 young stars.[7]

12/31 October Photo a Day and just sneaked in, in time. Always a fallback shot are the records and decks but they come in handy every year! Had to add a different processing to what I've done in years gone by for a different feel.
¡Esquivel! (Juan García Esquivel), Space Age Bachelor Pad Music compilation, Bar/None Records AHAON-043, limited-edition blue vinyl with an orange label. (Interestingly, one of the songs on this record is a cover of "Bye Bye Blues".) 1950s–60s-era instrumentals were not my kind of sound, but, when I came to know the music in the early 1990s through a former work colleague, I was won over by the somewhat exaggerated production style of Esquivel's, taking great advantage of stereo reproduction.
I had listened to the first side of the LP the previous weekend and left it on the turntable after listening, putting the dustcover into place. In the interim, I forgot about the record, instead spending considerable time shooting another item for the orange/blue theme. Upon deciding to give side two a listen, I realized I overlooked a ready-made, more compelling subject, so here it is. Enjoy!
