My computer crashed, lost almost all of my photos, can't get used to a new camera (and new computer with Windows 11) - found this old image (among several old ones which were recovered by repairperson)
There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

Sometimes I think we are all guilty of allowing perfection to erode confidence when in the expression of art, in its many, sometimes in fact, its infinite forms, that one is disillusioned until the abridging of expression and allowance of imperfection is somewhat lost, entangled in the needy concentration of being so particular, so acute and if I dare so maddening toward oneself, that the real picture of the moment as was is completely lost.
I took this daytime long exposure and I hated it, so many technical mistakes, unsteady camera, over-exposed, motion blur, blah, blah, blah and more bloody blah. But then I slapped it into Monochrome and instantly I was reminded of the sense of the timelessness, that the moment was trying to convey. After all, was the Heron bothered, does the water stop flowing, does the day stand still, absolutely not. So I was left with a sense of realisation that this is what it is, and therefore, should be allowed to breathe as such.
In reference to Miserere Mei, this is one of my favourite pieces by the Oxford Chamber Choir and this image reminded me of it, I've popped the link down below; anyhow, we're nearly there my friends, I trust everyone has a great weekend, sorry this was so long winded, but as always, thank you! :)
Make sure you pause to #recall all that is good in life - sunshine, the woods with snow, cats, houseplants, lovely shade of blue paint, and being alive.

The Roman district of Garbatella was designed in 1920 by famous architects and intended for the working class of the time. The style is the "Roman late baroque", with sinuous shapes that give life to neo-medieval buildings.
the whole district, with the fountains, the buildings, the balconies, the villas, the stuccoes and the green spaces, recalls this concept of the Garden City and can be considered a large open-air monument as well as an example of humanistic architecture
I'm switching over to some wildflower shots from this weekend, in preparation before a week-long birding shoot in Kansas coming up in a couple of weeks. We were specifically seeking Hepatica, but this beauty might be my favorite shot. Some interesting facts I have learned about Bloodroot:
- It blooms for a single day, then the petals drop off. This explains why I don't recall having seen it bloom before...
- The eponymous sap from their root is nasty stuff, classified as an escharotic-- i.e. it burns the skin and can cause necrosis and permanent scarring.
- In spite (or because of) this, it has been used as an herbal medicine to treat skin cancer. Evidence does not show that it is effective, and in fact use can lead to metastasis.

After hours of searching for reasonable instructions, guides, and help, this represents my first attempt to stack three photos.
I ended up with a dense and just as shallow macro as usual. I need to a) increase or more radically change focus points; b) find out how to stack, since I used photomerge and ended up with what Adobe named a panorama; 42) use a tripod instead of my monopod or elbows–can’t recall which now; and c) find out more about stacking for this old version of Photoshop 6.
I do not want to pay Adobe monthly fees for CC.
I will try again. Perhaps.
Wish you all Merry Christmas.

Working Bangor yard for "Switcher Sunday", we see SW-7 333 waiting in the clear for the power off of the just arrived #RB-3 to roll past. Two U-18B's and an RS-11 had just brought in the nighttime train from Portland, and will be heading over to the roundhouse for servicing. Hard to see in this but on the original you can see the hogger wearing an MEC green jacket and an MEC yellow and green cap - company pride! Don't recall what was happening with the MofW worker looking to lube something, but it seems a bit scary now that I look at this picture. But I might add, there is a lot going on this picture and it really reminds me of when train yards were a "happening" railroading type of place.
One of my sunflowers after a Georgia deluge. This was taken back in May. I think we got 2 inches of rain this day (in just a few hours). As I recall, we desperately needed it, so all my flowers were looking happy.
Well, thanks for looking. Enjoy.
Tamron 70-210mm F4 Di VC Test Shots in Color

Canon 6D with Tamron 70-210mm F4
I picked up this lens during the past winter and only have taken it out once that I can recall. I wanted to give the lens a more thorough test drive.
So far, it hasn't disappointed.
I bought it gently used for a fraction of the MSRP. It was missing the F/R lens caps, but I had a spare set hanging around.
Pairing it with my 6D has provided quite pleasing images as long as I do my part.
Hope you enjoy!

When memories of distant places and events begin to blur with the passing years, old passports are great for recall.

While many of you might recall numerous shots from the back of the house toward the lake, this is a view from the front porch, the point of departure for my various wanderings...those wanderings presently being significantly reduced in time due to the continuing frigid temps to about 30-45 minutes until the camera freezes up and I with it. We were supposed to reach +10F today but have yet to do so. The result is that December will set records for cold and the snow has remained on every branch of every tree for a longer period than I've ever witnessed, this also due to lack of winds. It's beautiful but the trees are straining.
For this photo, I asked my amenable neighbor to do a fly-by and, as you can see, he obliged, circling overhead until I signaled that I thought I had a decent picture and he could return to his aerie. I did a lot of playing with processing on this one and, after a great deal of debate, decided on the monochrome. The original is in comments taken moments before the eagle arrived...;-)
[As usual, larger is probably better]
One from the blistering heat of last Summer from my trusted balcony. As we're all now shivering, I wanted to bring back some warmth and sunshine to the scheme of things. Had such a wonderful Summer with the plants and flowers in the pots and got some great shots. As for the under shots which I like so much, I think they look so much more in tune with the moment, than the orthodox frontal captures, nothing wrong with that of course but this angle I think looks more alive.
Hope everyone is well, I want everyone to know I appreciate hugely all the faves, comments and the such like and so as always, thank you! :)
Rarely seen in these heavily farmed areas, but recalled from childhood hedgerows and meadows. Now they are mainly seen as the flowers of remembrance as Armistice Day approaches. Beautiful and delicate - brightly they shine!

I recall I got a letter on a recall, but now I do not recall if I took it in for the recall installation?
I recall using a pay phone but not outside the police station.
I mainly recall using a pay phone in the parking lot of a shopping mall on the edge of Ottawa on nights when the commute home was going to be late. My commute was about an hour through the countryside and, on a good day, fifteen minutes through the city. The fifteen minute part could be an hour or more at times so a quick pull out of traffic to the pay phone at the mall to say I would be late. All before cell phones.
