Chi flicked his eyes toward Guin as she approached, amused at how quickly she stepped away when she noticed his presence. Hand set on right hip, voice drifting out in casual tones. "Pretty outfit... and no cuts. Ixion didn't end up marking you up then?"
Guin blinks at him for a moment, never sure how to react. She absently tugs at the hem of her shirt, then briefly touches her nose. "He didn't break it," she says simply. "Much to your disappointment, I'm sure."
Chi now really did laugh, shaking his head back and forth slowly as if to rid himself of the noise in his mind. "Oh no, a broken nose that I didn't give you? That wouldn't be any fun at all." His eyes flicked to the shirt's hem when she pulled upon it, walking around her slowly as if to look upon the rest of that garment. "You have good friends, hm... the church and those others that look after you."
Guin flinches at his laugh, though she tries her best to hide it. "And I'd never want to deprive you of your fun," she mutters dryly. When he starts circling her, her hand curls at her side--she can feel his eyes on her, and it makes her skin crawl. "Good friends," she echoes, her voice flat. "I'm surprised you've noticed."
Chi gave that comment a narrowing of eyes, staring directly into her own orbs without so much as blinking. He froze in spot at her left side, hand dropping from his hip though it did trail along the buttons of his coat occassionally. "Friends are hard to miss. They cling like glue, even when you want time to yourself."
Guin doesn't look away from his eerie, unblinking stare... it feels like something is different, somehow, but she's not sure how. "I'm not sure who you mean," she says, feeling a sense of deja vu after her conversation with Forge. "But it sounds as if you're the one having a problem with that. Your pirates becoming too much for you?"
Chi smiled softly and shook his head, tilting his head to one side. "No. Mine are... fine." He shook his head, shrugging briefly. "Friends are good things to have. It's just easy to tell who is and who isn't.. by the time they spend with you. You've made a few new ones. That's never a bad thing."
Guin watches him for a moment in silence, trying to hear the sarcasm, or the taunt. She nods, slowly. "I've learned to be careful, at who I call a friend." Curiosity suddenly gets the better of her, and she blurts out, "Are you all right?"

Flooding on the edges of the Buriganga river. Flooding has always formed part of the life of Bangladeshis but the effects of climate change is increasing the cycle and the severity of the risk to two thirds of the country located on a floodplains of three major rivers. The problem comes from both the sea, which is rising, and the rains that are increasingly and the vulnerability is made worse by the fact that Bangladesh is exposed to storm surges from the Bay of Bengal. 14/06/2010, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

If you're reading this, then welcome to notes on a peculiar baseball anomaly: an official MLB home game for the Toronto Blue Jays...in Dunedin, Florida. (Due to the pandemic, they've been displaced and haven't actually played a home game in Toronto since 2019.)
For the entirety of the shortened 2020 season, they played their home games at their AAA club's stadium in Buffalo, New York (where they'll be returning beginning in June 2021.) For the beginning of the 2021 campaign, though, they've played their home games at TD Ballpark here in Dunedin, which is their spring training facility. (For the record, I have been to a home game in Toronto -- the day after I was at a home game for the Montreal Expos, and all of this was before digital photography back in 1996.) So, perhaps this is a "cheat" to put in my MLB collection, but I don't see it that way since it's an official game, and those are the Jays' home whites. The game even came replete with two national anthems and lots of "Canadian" signage around the outfield.
As for the game itself, it was against the Washington Nationals on 27 April. Max Scherzer took the mound for the Nats. The Jays -- and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. in particular -- enjoyed that. They knocked him around for 7 runs (5 earned) en route to a 9-5 win.
Vlad was responsible for 7 of those runs with three home runs: a grand slam to left center in the 3rd, a solo shot to dead center in the 5th (pictured here circling the bases) -- both off Scherzer, and sliced a two-run homer over the right field wall (pictured here) in the 7th off Kyle Finnegan.
I like both teams, so enjoyed the game. What I didn't enjoy, though, was the attitude of far too many fans (all seemed to be in my section) who not only disregarded masking regulations, but mocked the pandemic in general. Of all the stadiums I've been to this year, the fans here were the worst, and I felt for the staff, who seemed to genuinely want to do the right thing. (Taking politics out of the equation: a person buys a ticket that agrees to certain conditions, then breaks them. I have a problem with that.)
