There was a time when I use to go on climbs like this and never brought a camera. At a certain point in my life I decided that it wasn't fair not to share these moments of pure awe with the people that would appreciate them. I started bringing my camera with me to these plces high in the sky where at the end of the day the light reaches out for one last kiss of the earth.
This is another from Saturday's visit to the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge. This was just following the shot I showed a few days ago.

Uroplatus lineatus is a gecko which is found in eastern Madagascar and on the island Nosy Bohara. These geckos live on trees in tropical rain forests and on bamboo plants. They reach a total length of 270 mm or 10.63 in. Threats to this species are posed by deforestation and illegal pet trade.
Leaf-tailed or Uroplatus geckos are one of Madagascar's most unique species. These moderate- to large-sized geckos rely on cryptic coloration as they sleep with their heads downward, flattened against tree trunks and adjusting their body coloration to their surroundings.
Inactive during the day, Uroplatus geckos move only when disturbed. They respond to prodding with an impressive display of a brightly colored gaping mouth and an erect tail. At night they hunt insects. – Wikipedia

New growth in my Japanese Maple tree September 2019. This type of small tree will grow 30cm or more of new branch per year.
On Monte Calderico they settled in the 6th century BC. C. the first townsfolk, given its strategic importance for transhumance.
With the Punic wars takes place the conquest and establishment of a Roman city (the old Consaburum named by Plinio), at the foot of the Cerro Calderico, to be abandoned the town located on it. Consuegra reached a great development, being the main city of Carpetania, a key point on the roads to the north and south. Bridges, roads, a dam, an aqueduct and a circus were built. Consuegra is cited by classical authors such as Livy or Ptolemy. Through it the Roman road called "Via Laminium".
The majority of the Hispanic and Gothic population remained with the arrival of the Arabs. The castle dates back to this time. In the year 1085 Toledo falls before Alfonso VI. It seems that Consuegra had passed into the hands of Castile in 1083. In the year 1097 the son of El Cid Campeador, Diego, died in the battle of Consuegra. In this battle, the armies of Castile, commanded by King Alfonso VI, were defeated by the Almoravids commanded by Yusuf ibn Tasufin, changing hands again. It was later reconquered by Christians.
In 1150 Alfonso VII handed over his castle to his vassal Rodrigo RodrÃguez. In 1183 the population, together with its alfoz, was donated by Alfonso VIII, with the approval of Pope Lucius III to the Sovereign Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (Order of Malta), which appointed Consuegra head of the Grand Priory of Castile and León, in La Mancha, taking the castle as its seat, and granting it the Fuero de Consuegra, a copy of the one in Cuenca. He emphasized in this period under his tutelage the defense after the battle of Alarcos in 1195. With the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, in 1212, the area finally stabilized.
This image was taken in a marquee at a flower show. To reduce clutter and give a more high key effect I went low and used the roof as a backdrop.

Lake George, Adirondacks, NY.
There's often not much room to see anything on the lake's shores, other than the opposite side, because of the way the forest crowds the shoreline. But a little scene unfolded while I explored, shooting up the water and including this near shore. The atmosphere lent a hand, removing the distance and distraction. With a little drama, the image became more intimate, animating the snag that appears to be reaching for meaning in that sky, while the nearer trees seem to reach for the wayward son. Behind the backdrop, even the reach of the lake is indeterminate. In this dimension, it is hard to tell the feel--anger in an approaching storm, the sadness of a dreary day, or maybe the hope of a sunrise? I'll let you reach your own conclusions. Things are not always as they seem.
