Oil on wood panel, 24" x 24" 2006 Two weeks after the storm my partner and I passed the security checkpoint at dawn. As we pretended to look official, the hovering helicopters and military presence made me feel uncomfortable. The Bywater neighborhood was surrounded with barbed wire and swarming with Military. Upon arriving at our slightly damaged home we left within two hours feeling as though we had trespassed on our own property. I gathered as much art as I could fit into the car and ended up transferring it to Lake Charles, LA, (Rita came), and then to Dallas, TX and finally to Gretna, Louisiana before returning home the day we received electricity. Nature’s destruction of so many of my families homes in Louisiana and Mississippi reminds me that land is borrowed from nature and that in the end she has the final say of its future.
I had a choice of 2 to put on the DMU...I chose this one......I couldn't decide which one was better...or should I say...not the worst.
