January 11th is game day for the playoff between the Seattle Seahawks and the New Orleans Saints!

The last time these two teams met, exactly three years ago, "The Beast" Marshawn Lynch scored an amazing 67-yard touchdown that became known as the Beast Quake, in part because the crowd's reaction was so rawkus that seismometers registered it as a tremor. However, this does not explain why Marshawn now keeps cropping up hilariously in TV ads for a local plumbing service! Tomorrow's game may not result in another earth shaking event as this, but we'll always have the Beast Quake...

Rawkus at work. Brisbane Street Art Festival. In the city.

Anticipation has the habit to set you up for disappointment in evening entertainment but tonight there'll be some love, tonight there'll be a rawkus, regardless of what's gone before. I want to see all of the things that we've already seen, the lairy girls hung out the window of the limousine and of course its fancy dress, and they're all looking quite full on in bunny ears and devil horns. I'm a legend, I'm irreverent

I be reverend

I be so fa-a-ar up, we don't give a

Welcome to the danger zone

Step into the fantasy

You are not invited to the other side of sanity

They calling me an alien

A big headed astronaut

Maybe it's because your boy Yeezy get ass a lot

[Katy Perry]

You're so hypnotizing

Could you be the devil

Could you be an angel

Your touch magnetizing

Feels like I am floating

Leaves my body glowing

They say be afraid

You're not like the others

Futuristic lover

Different DNA

They don't understand you

Your from a whole other world

A different dimension

You open my eyes

And I'm ready to go

Lead me into the light

Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me

Infect me with your love and

Fill me with your poison

Take me, ta-ta-take me

Wanna be a victim

Ready for abduction

Boy, you're an alien

Your touch so foreign

It's supernatural

Extraterrestrial

Your so supersonic

Wanna feel your powers

Stun me with your lasers

Your kiss is cosmic

Every move is magic

[edit]Life and career

[edit]Childhood and youth

Luke was born in Westerly, Rhode Island[1] to an architect father and an interior-designer mother, but spent much of his formative years in New York City.[1] He had originally wanted to be a drummer, but his parents refused to allow a drum kit in the house.[2] At 13, he picked up his older sister's guitar and taught himself how to play. In his teenage years, Luke became a drug dealer, selling "to other dealers mostly" and got kicked out of a number of private schools, including St. Luke's and the Little Red School House [3] As a teenager, Luke would "listen to bad music over and over, if there was a guitar part he admired, so he could figure out what the guitar player was doing right." [2] Gottwald was raised Jewish.[4]

[edit]Career beginnings and Saturday Night Live (1997-2007)

Luke attended the Manhattan School of Music for two years. After he was a student there, he auditioned for the Saturday Night Live Band and won out over 80 applicants, joining Saturday Night Live (SNL) as the lead guitarist in 1997. Luke performed with the band for ten seasons, leaving at the end of the 2006-2007 season. As a guitarist, Luke performed with Herbie Hancock, Michael Bolton, Phoebe Snow, Jack McDuff and Shabba Ranks, and played with the house band for the TV series Amateur Night at the Apollo.[5]

While working on SNL, Luke performed on a number of jingles and advertisements and became a deejay fixture in New York.[3] Luke also became heavily active in the underground hip-hop scene, producing tracks and remixes for various artists, including Mos Def, Black Star, and KRS-One & Zack de la Rocha.[6] as well as for artists such as Arrested Development and Nappy Roots.[7] He released the 12" single "Wet Lapse", under the name Kasz, for Rawkus Records, and remixed the theme from the film Mortal Kombat.[5] While deejaying at a house party, Luke met producer Max Martin and subsequently gave Martin a tour of New York clubs when Martin arrived in the city.[2]

[edit]Producing, songwriting and recognition (2004–present)

Luke currently owns two publishing companies, Where Da Kasz At Music and Kasz Money Publishing, of which he employs a network of 12 songwriters, as well as Kemosabe Entertainment, an imprint of RCA Records.[8] As of January 2011, he has garnered 21 Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 singles, becoming the producer with the third most such hits since the charts were created.[9] Luke co-wrote and co-produced the Kelly Clarkson Hot 100 number two song, "Since U Been Gone" with Max Martin,[2] while providing the singer another hit "Behind These Hazel Eyes" as well. Subsequent songs by Pink, "Who Knew" and "U + Ur Hand" reached the Hot 100 top ten. He would go on to co-produce a number one for Avril Lavigne with the song "Girlfriend" as well as seven other songs on the album. He also achieved a UK number one with the song "About You Now" for the Sugababes. Luke contributed two songs to Katy Perry's debut album, Hot 100 number one, "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold", as well as three songs to Britney Spears' 2008 album, Circus, including the title track. Luke also co-produced the US number one song "Right Round" by Flo Rida. His third co-production for Kelly Clarkson, "My Life Would Suck Without You" would reach the top of the Hot 100 as well. In late 2009, his song for Miley Cyrus, "Party in the U.S.A." would reach number two on the chart as well. In December 2009, Billboard named him as one of the top 10 producers of the decade.[10]Harold Camping Silent Today. In 2010, Ke$ha's Luke co-produced single, "Tik Tok" became the longest running debut number one single by a female artist since 1977. On April 21, Luke was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2010 ASCAP Pop Music Awards and received 10 ASCAP Pop Music Awards for the year as the songwriter and publisher.[7] Luke had received ten Pop Music Awards from ASCAP between 2006 and 2009. He was also named to Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People in Business, placing at #33.[11] Luke's co-production for Katy Perry, "California Gurls" www.imdb.com/title/tt1905777/combined debuted at number two on the Hot 100 and later reached number one. Second single, "Teenage Dream" would follow suit. The Luke co-produced Taio Cruz track, "Dynamite", reached number one in the UK and number two in the US. Luke would contribute to three more top ten songs, "Magic" for B.o.B, "My First Kiss" for 3OH!3 and "Take It Off (song)" for Ke$ha, as well as a top five song, "Your Love is My Drug" by the latter on the Hot 100. In November, Ke$ha's Luke co-produced lead single, "We R Who We R" became only the seventeenth song to debut at number one on the Hot 100.

On December 1, 2010 Luke received 2 nominations for the 53rd Grammy Awards in the categories Album Of The Year (Teenage Dream by Katy Perry), and Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical.[12] He was also named both the Number One Hot 100 Songwriter of the Year and Number One Producer of the Year by Billboard.[13][14] At the start of 2011, Advertising Age called Luke "the year's most successful producer and songwriter in terms of chart longevity."[8] Britney Spears' Luke co-produced single, "Hold It Against Me" became the eighteenth song to debut at the top of the Hot 100 in January. He also produced and co-wrote Jessie J's song, "Price Tag", for which he received credit as "Coconut Man". The song debuted at number one in the UK. He also Co-produced "E.T." by Katy Perry, another Billboard number-one-Hit.

Carolina Alexandra Falkholt, with the pseudonym Blue, born March 4, 1977 in Gothenburg, is a Swedish graffiti artist and musician. Sometimes she uses her own coined term "grafitta" to refer to all her artistic practices.

Carolina Falkholt grew up in Dals Långed in Dalsland and is the daughter of the chefs Chris and Carin Falkholt. As a teenager, she moved to Stockholm to attend the Waldorf School Kristofferskolan. At the same time she began painting graffiti under the pseudonym Blue. In the mid-1990s, she moved to New York. There she was, as the only Swedish, member of The Fantastic Partners and Hardcore Chickz. She worked with graffiti artists like Sento and Lady Pink and supported herself by making paintings around New York City for the record label company Rawkus. Around the turn of the century she was one of Sweden's most famous international graffiti artist. After four years in New York, she moved back to Sweden and settled after a while in Gothenburg where she currently works. // WIKIPEDIA

It was at an open mic jam where she met producer, Batsauce, and together they created a funk/soul group called Heavenly Noise, and were also married 3 years later. Daisey & Batsauce also hooked up with Therapy (MC for the ABs, formerly Asamov) and started the Smile Rays, with releases in Japan, Germany, and the U.S. and digitally through Rawkus. Going back to her childhood roots of traveling and performing, Daisey & Batsauce recently moved to Europe and are following their musical dreams. Every day is magical... no doubt!

Artist: Eminem f/ Dido

Album: The Marshall Mathers LP

Song: Stan

Typed by: OHHLA Webmaster DJ Flash

Chorus: Dido

My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I..

got out of bed at all

The morning rain clouds up my window..

and I can't see at all

And even if I could it'll all be gray,

but your picture on my wall

It reminds me, that it's not so bad,

it's not so bad..

1st Chorus: volume gradually grows over raindrop background

2nd Chorus: full volume with beat right after "thunder" noise

[Eminem as 'Stan']

Dear Slim, I wrote but you still ain't callin

I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom

I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got 'em

There probably was a problem at the post office or somethin

Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em

but anyways; fuck it, what's been up? Man how's your daughter?

My girlfriend's pregnant too, I'm bout to be a father

If I have a daughter, guess what I'ma call her?

I'ma name her Bonnie

I read about your Uncle Ronnie too I'm sorry

I had a friend kill himself over some bitch who didn't want him

I know you probably hear this everyday, but I'm your biggest fan

I even got the underground shit that you did with Skam

I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man

I like the shit you did with Rawkus too, that shit was fat

Anyways, I hope you get this man, hit me back,

just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan

This is Stan

{Chorus: Dido}

[Eminem as 'Stan']

Dear Slim, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance

I ain't mad - I just think it's FUCKED UP you don't answer fans

If you didn't wanna talk to me outside your concert

you didn't have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for Matthew

That's my little brother man, he's only six years old

We waited in the blistering cold for you,

four hours and you just said, "No."

That's pretty shitty man - you're like his fuckin idol

He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do

I ain't that mad though, I just don't like bein lied to

Remember when we met in Denver - you said if I'd write you

you would write back - see I'm just like you in a way

I never knew my father neither;

he used to always cheat on my mom and beat her

I can relate to what you're saying in your songs

so when I have a shitty day, I drift away and put 'em on

cause I don't really got shit else so that shit helps when I'm depressed

I even got a tattoo of your name across the chest

Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds

It's like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me

See everything you say is real, and I respect you cause you tell it

My girlfriend's jealous cause I talk about you 24/7

But she don't know you like I know you Slim, no one does

She don't know what it was like for people like us growin up

You gotta call me man, I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose

Sincerely yours, Stan -- P.S.

We should be together too

{Chorus: Dido}

[Eminem as 'Stan']

Dear Mister-I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,

this'll be the last package I ever send your ass

It's been six months and still no word - I don't deserve it?

I know you got my last two letters;

I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect

So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it

I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway

Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?

You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night"

about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drowning

but didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a a show he found him?

That's kinda how this is, you coulda rescued me from drowning

Now it's too late - I'm on a 1000 downers now, I'm drowsy

and all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call

I hope you know I ripped +ALL+ of your pictures off the wall

I love you Slim, we coulda been together, think about it

You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it

And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you SCREAM about it

I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATHE without me

See Slim; {*screaming*} Shut up bitch! I'm tryin to talk!

Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin in the trunk

but I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you

cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too

Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now

Oh shit, I forgot, how'm I supposed to send this shit out?

{*car tires squeal*} {*CRASH*}

.. {*brief silence*} .. {*LOUD splash*}

{Chorus: Dido}

[Eminem]

Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner but I just been busy

You said your girlfriend's pregnant now, how far along is she?

Look, I'm really flattered you would call your daughter that

and here's an autograph for your brother,

I wrote it on the Starter cap

I'm sorry I didn't see you at the show, I musta missed you

Don't think I did that shit intentionally just to diss you

But what's this shit you said about you like to cut your wrists too?

I say that shit just clownin dogg,

c'mon - how fucked up is you?

You got some issues Stan, I think you need some counseling

to help your ass from bouncing off the walls when you get down some

And what's this shit about us meant to be together?

That type of shit'll make me not want us to meet each other

I really think you and your girlfriend need each other

or maybe you just need to treat her better

I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time

before you hurt yourself, I think that you'll be doin just fine

if you relax a little, I'm glad I inspire you but Stan

why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a fan

I just don't want you to do some crazy shit

I seen this one shit on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick

Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge

and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid

and in the car they found a tape, but they didn't say who it was to

Come to think about, his name was.. it was you

Damn!

Two of the best dogs ever.

Audio Electronic

Best known for his live electro project Cybrid, with releases on Belief Systems and Exact Science, Gustavo Lanzas brings his love of Electro, Acidhouse, Jack Trax, and Detroit-influenced Techno to the mix.

Drawing from 15+ years of experience as a producer, and an appreciation for the dancefloor classics, audioelectronic is a musical experiment to get back to the roots of electronic dance music. Favoring hardware drum machines and samplers, Gustavo blends rhythms, basslines, and synthetic melodies into a danceable mix. Retro music for the dancefloors of the future.

Solenoid

Solenoid is a Portland (Oregon-USA) based electronic music composer who has explored a variety of genres. Informed by electro, new wave, jazz, disco, noise, metal, classical, and avant garde music, his releases do have common elements when seen as a whole. Tracks usually feature playful and funky percussion and melodic progressions with some signature warbly synthesizer sounds. Solenoid's music develops a kind of baroque 'maximalism' (where most electro/techno/house/disco defaults toward minimalism) much in the vein of early Detroit techno (1st wave)

Titles make references to film, sci-fi, technology, literature, synthesizers and musicology. 90's releases lean toward shuffling, skittering funk with 80's influences, occasionally exploring non-4/4 rhythms. The first 3 albums contain work compiled from a period several years earlier and are often identified with the first generation of US "IDM" artists, though the spirit of experimentation is more akin to free jazz and prog-rock ideas of time signature and melodic structure rather than sonic experimentation. An early issue of Grooves called Solenoid "the American answer to Mouse On Mars".

As part of a free-improv duo, Office Products, and as Mr. Pharmacist, his experimentation of purely sonic ideas is explored under other project names. Post-2002 releases do reintroduce some 'difficult' noise/experimental elements while simultaneously going for more straightforward house/techno sounds.

Much of the percussion programming of Solenoid's music contains detailed accents that suggests a live drummmer. Solenoid is known to use a drum pad when playing live or dj'ing.

SciFiSol

SciFiSol (Christina Broussard), has nurtured a love affair with electronic music through the years

combining analog synthesis with her voice in live electronic collaborations and performances.

Her current self-produced solo project is an experimental collage of soundscapes that

tell a story of mystery and dreams, fusing her love of the obscure with a desire to create

innovative and expressive music.

Her creations embody her own unique style of electronica-- driven by

complex rhythms and textures while floating upon ambient, emotional overtones,

and featuring her voice interlaced throughout.

Resident DJ, The Perfect Cyn, will be laying down the musical concrete for the night!

Terrorists blew up this library on October 25, 1909. They were hard-working, pissed off Americans.

This was part of a dynamiting campaign by the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers which reached its zenith with the bombing of the Los Angeles Times building in 1910, but got off to a rawkus start with the timed, simultaneous explosion of 4 sites in Indianapolis. One of those was this Carnegie library, the Hawthorne Branch of the Indianapolis Library, which was under construction.

The library opened finally in 1911 and lasted until 1955. It currently serves as the Center for Working Families, part of the Hawthorne Community Center.

Anticipation has a habit to set you up

For disappointment in evening entertainment but

Tonight there’ll be some love

Tonight there'll be a ruckus, regardless of what's gone before

I want to see all of the things that we've already seen

The lairy girls hung out the window of the limousine

And of course its fancy dress

And they're all looking quite full on

In bunny ears and devil horns in hell

Anticipation has a habit to set you up

For disappointment in evening entertainment but

Tonight there’ll be some love

Tonight there'll be a rawkus, regardless of what's gone before

I want to see all of the things that we've already seen

I want to see you take the jackpot out the fruit machine

And put it all back in

You've got to understand it you can never beat the bandit

And she won't be surprised and she won't be shocked

When she's pressed the star after she's pressed unlock

And there's verse and chapter sat in her inbox

And all that it says is that you've drank a lot

You should bear that in mind tonight

bear that in mind, yeah you should

bear that in mind tonight

Bear that in mind

You can pour your heart out but her reasoning will block

Ought you send her after nine o'clock

Anticipation has a habit to set you up

Tonight there’ll be some love

Tonight there'll be a ruckus, regardless of what's gone before

You can pour your heart out around 3 o clock

When the 2 for 1's undone the writers block.

I used glitterboo.com to add glittery sparkles to the photograph, "fireworks," by RAWKUS, which you can see here on stock.xchng.

I can hardly believe that we're almost half way through the year, and this is the first gig that we have been to! Still, Maxïmo Park are always good value for it. click here to hear some of their music.

Maxïmo are Kerry's favourite band in the world ever. As a result, and quite unintentionally, I have now seen this band four times - and we're likely to see them again before the end of the year! That will equal the number of times that I have seen my favourite live band, Gogol Bordello... so i hope Gogol tour again soon to rectify the situation! ;o) (click here to hear some of Gogol Bordello's rawkus magnificence on Jools Holland's Later show. ACE!)

Also on the bill was a band called Stricken City who we'd never heard of before, but who were very good. Big things may very well await them.
