I hope you find yours so you can recharge. We all need a bit of solitude at one point or another. Behind the camera I find mine.

On another note, I miss green in nature, I miss colours in nature. Winter can make for lovely scenes don't get me wrong but I like seeing colours, I like seeing plants and flowers.

Have a super awesome Monday!

Insomnie cette nuit.....

t’s been a while since my last visit to Deerock Lake, so I took a ‘minute’ last night to swing up and maybe catch one of the crazy sunsets we’ve been treated to lately.

While the sunset didn’t really happen, the fall colours made up for it!

Egypt Falls.

A fairly steep hike down a gorge led to this beautiful cascade waterfall! The fall colours and water volume were just about perfect for pictures too.

"Again! For heaven's sake! How many pictures of sunsets do you need?"

On my morning walk with my Canon EOS 1DS Mark III with the Canon EF 70-200 f/4L lens. Imported and processed in ON1 Photo Raw 2022.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a Sigma 105mm EX DG f2.8 macro lens that no longer will autofocus but still works great manual focusing. Aperture priority at 5.6 ISO 320 and edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2022.

it is now a private property no longer used as a church. Still, it makes a lovely setting on an autumn day in North Frontenac Township.

Went searching for some dark skies to find the Aurora and came up empty handed.

However, I did manage to capture a shot of this little old beauty. Shot at 11:22 pm with a Waxing Gibbous First Quarter Moon shining thru some overcast sky over my left shoulder.

Quite impressed at the power and dynamic range of the K1.

I try to get out every day to capture the beauty in the days of fall/autumn. There is something so peaceful as to just getting out and enjoying the beauty that Mother Nature gives us.

Went for a drive today just here in North Frontenac Township to see if I could spot some of Mother Nature's handiwork - I am still trying to stay in the KFLA as much as I can with the pandemic still on even though we have had both our shots. It's cool today, you needed a hoodie and they are calling for frost perhaps tonight but the vibrant red leaves made you feel all warm and fuzzy.

I went out earlier this morning - here in eastern Ontario the weather is disgusting. We are expected to reach upwards of 40C with the humidex this afternoon and I am sure that around 10:00 am it was getting up there.

I put the Sigma 105mm lens on my Canon 5D Mark II and put the camera on my tripod. Set the aperture to f5.6 and the ISO was at 100. Edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2021 with the Kodachrome Preset and used the Dynamic Range effect as well.

Have a super day! If you are in Ontario stay hydrated my friends it is hot hot hot out there!

"Daddy, why does that lady make me scared?"

No edits needed as Mother Nature produced the wonderful fall colours for us reflected in the water at the side of the road.

Unsure of the name of the wildflower. It grows on the side of the road here in North Frontenac Township.

One of the stops on Sharon's Fabulous FREE Fall Foliage Road of 2021 tour today was at the little bridge that has just been reconstructed in Myers Caves Ontario to get a few photos of the little waterfall there and, of course, the beautiful fall colours.

Here is a bit of history about Myers Caves if you are interested.

Meyers' Cave lies north of Highway 7 near Mazinaw Lake. It was named after a counterfeiter named Meyers, who is believed to have had his equipment and silver hidden in the cave. He eventually disappeared without a trace, after years of smuggling the silver out of the cave with the help of local Aboriginals.

Several years later, in 1891, miners were stationed near the Meyer's Cave area and discovered a narrow passage that led to a surreal cavern. Stairs were carved out of the rock in the cavern and they descended about 100 feet to a hidden chamber. In the chamber were tools, Aboriginal artifacts, and a pool of water that extended to a subterranean lake that led to a cave full of silver stalactites. It is said that the miners sealed the cave so that they can return to it and claim the riches inside, but there was never any confirmation that they actually did that.

Today, the entrance to the hidden cavern is unknown. However, many still believe that there is a subterranean lake somewhere in the area that leads to a cave full of silver stalactites.

Info thanks to Google.

Waking up at 5:30am only to find most mornings on Cape Breton cloudy or fogged over, was a bit disappointing. But the layered sky added some nice mood and depth to my morning shoots. The strong horizontal lines also lends well to this panoramic crop.

So it’s always worth the effort to roll out of bed to see what you can find.

This horse barn was still in use when this image was taken thirteen years ago. In hindsight, this would have made for a great Long Exposure shot, but I wasn't setup for that style of photography back in 2012.

Even at 5.6 this lens gives some nice bokeh. My lens has since stopped autofocusing therefore I have to manual focus everything with my trusty 105 macro lens.

I had not seen any red squirrels around for some time now. I figured they were all off doing whatever they do although the allure of food in the snack shack should have brought them around is my thinking. In any event my little "Fan Tail" friend here decided to grace us with her presence at the feeder in the tree.

The weather here in Eastern Ontario is disgusting. It's hot, it's humid and you don't want to do anything. I took the wild sweet peas that I had put in a make shift vase (old bottle) and went out on the patio to take some photos. I threw the Lensbaby Composer Pro (as can be seen in the exif data) with the Sweet 35 Optic on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and put some green and pink tulle around the lens. Shot wide open and then edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2021 using a preset and a couple of develop effects.

I had not seen him in a few weeks although GP said he did. We moved his snack shack and tree feeder to the west side small deck of the house as we were putting weather seal on the east side large deck and we didn't want paw prints on it. Today, I was eating my lunch out on the west side and I spotted him at his feeder. He immediately stopped eating and gave me the grin here.

Still staying close to home even though we have had both our "jabs". Ontario is now into the cusp of fourth wave so my flower is a willing subject to be photographed thus the reason you see it more these days. The yellow in the background is my little sunflower.

Canon 1DS Mark III with Lenbaby Scout and Sweet 35 optic. ISO was at 100 and the aperture was 4.0. Focused on the center of the flower grouping and I upped the exposure just a tad in ON1 Photo Raw 2021.
