My Raspberry Pi setup. Pi control is through a USB tethered Galaxy S2.

For details on how to do something similar please see my blog article at: teach-me-photo.blogspot.co.nz/2012/11/raspberry-pi-hdr-ma...

I was given a portable DVD player in which the DVD player section had given up the ghost. The screen and other inputs still worked perfectly though. I gutted the laser and DVD mechanism and inputted a Raspberry Pi. Unfortunately I am waiting on my SD card to arrive before I can fire it up!!!!! Stay tuned. All the parts in the world and no SD card over 2gb!!!!

My latest DIY idea - a camera battery grip with an embedded computer. More pictures and a description of the project here - davidhunt.ie/?p=2641

Note the indicator LEDs - they're quite a bit brighter than they look here...

Oddly, the Ethernet and USB ports all operate off the same "bus" - I have heard this can cause occasional bottlenecks for data, but I haven't personally noticed any (yet).

Project canceled. The display unit died, and the Raspberry Pi would drop packets because the kernel wasn't quite real time enough to report all the interrupts in time. I received a Acurite 5in1 weather station for Christmas that has a usb port. I reflashed the SD card for Raspbian Jessie and installed weewx, then connected the Acurite console to the Raspberry Pi. Works nicely!
