Another rare timepiece from Rolex. Although the Zephyr is not rare, any non-Submariner watch with a 25J caliber 1530 movement *is* rare.

At the time of posting this set, the Zephyr is my normal dress watch (though I don't dress up very often).

I put the watch on an aftermarket solid-end piece Oyster bracelet, for this photo. I was going to put it on an original era riveted link Oyster, but the band was too short for my wrist. So, I wore it like this for awhile before it was sold.

Although the watch shown in the late 1960s catalog is a double-red Sea-Dweller, the one I owned was a much rarer "Single Red". This photo is for comparison only.

The lighting is horrid for this dial photo. However, I had a hard time reducing the glare on the lettering. So I changed the angle of the light... and achieved a decent shot for your review.

As you can see, the luminous markers were retouched, at some point. After sending this photo, along with others to three world reknown collectors AND Montres Rolex SA, the watch and this dial were authenticated as genuine -- and original (aside from the luminous markers being refinished).

The "SIN" on the dial is part of the word "SINGER", the maker of some Rolex dials back in the 1960s and early 1970s. The last three letters were removed during the machining of the dial, so it will fit properly on the movement.

Inside case back marked: IV.67 and 1665.

One of the markings that helps authenticate this watch as original is the "bubble" caseback, along with the "Patent Pending" engraving along the bottom.

If you look closely, you can see BREVET and 1665... and another view of the (Patent Pending) marking.

Notice the "500 M - 1650 FT" markings, which are unique to this rare version of the 1665 *only*.

Notice the crown does NOT have the Triplock dots. Prior to the official release of the Triplock, in the early 1970s, the Submariner and Sea-Dweller used a larger crown without three dots (the trademark of the Triplock crown)

This fax from Rolex Geneva's Heritate Department authenticates the rare "Single Red" Sea-Dweller I was blessed to own at one time.
