This is a non-breeding adult Black Tern. It was an overcast morning on the lake. The birders with their scopes were having a hard time with the ID. So my pic was the deciding factor. Bucks County PA.
The Black Tern is a rare visitor for our way inland area. This is either a juvenile or non-breeding adult. They both look so much alike. Far shot taken at 7:23 p.m. with the setting sun at Peace Valley Park, New Britain PA.
So far December has been extremely dark and dull. Hardly any sunshine, my solar powered lights in the garden only work for minutes in the evening. Instead of presenting nightshots taken at lunchtime I prefer to post a shot out if the tin. Porta Westfalica, Ostwestfalen, Germany

When I stopped admiring the source of the Rhine and looked behind me, I saw these protected Alpine beauties, the large (5 - 20cm) Alpine asters! Not just one, but a whole bunch. I had to climb higher on a steep slope, but I absolutely wanted a good shot of them.
we very rarely get snow on Vancouver Island.
but since i returned from India we have been gripped in the coldest winter weather in memory ..
normally i am bragging about flowers in February . ha ha
Male Northern shoveler. It's a rare moment because these dabbling ducks usually have their heads under water. So one has to be quick and time the dabbling. Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.
Went to see this bird. It didnt come very close, but got some record shots at least. A lovely bird!
As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated
Stay safe!
I captured the spiral from the ground floor.
The architect designed another staircase to get from ground floor to second floor.
So there is the chance to photograph this staircase without interfering influences like a down coming spiral and railings.

Hello Everyone!
The Ram's Head Lady Slipper is very small, about the size of the end of my thumb. They are tough to spot because of their diminutive size and because they easily camouflage into the forest setting. These native orchids are rare and are found specifically within coniferous forests and bogs. This was found along the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail which is found within the boreal forest about an hour's drive north of Winnipeg. This native orchid is listed as "of special concern" in every state and province for which it occurs.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

I've gone to the Tetons the last week of Sept. every year for the past seven years. It is a RARE moment in time when you can get a clear shot unobstructed by the smoke. This was such a moment. I was grateful.

RSPB figures - UK wintering: 35 birds
So (for the UK) it's something of a rarity
I have a saying.. 'it's easy when it's easy'
We had six of these in one lake at the same time., so photographs at the time were 'easy'
You tended to forget that this beautiful enormous Egret is not something you stumble upon every day of the week., but magically there they were all over the place
And on the same day at the edge of the same lake., was the not so common Jack Snipe (previous upload)
I started to wonder if it was worth looking around for Pelicans!!!
Thanks for taking time to view, fave and comment. Thats much appreciated!

The Agami Heron is a very rare sighting as they travel close to the edge of the rivers and if there is any noise they are quick to head for cover and safety. We were so fortunate to have seen one on our recent trip to the Pantanal, Brazil . It remained in view for quite some time and we were thrilled to be able to observe just how beautiful this agami heron is.
Enjoy your day and may it be a very blessed one. Thank you all for your kind likes and comments !!

This is very rare bird last seen two years ago around our place / in our state and a lifer for me. There are around 2-3 sightings in an year maybe usually in the winter. The bird looks very similar to the common Stonechat and I mistook it for the same for over 2 weeks and deleted around 100+ shots of the bird sadly. A few days ago, a friend saw the pic, id'ed it and then I realized the rarity.
The bird is migrant to North Western parts of India and is a rare visitor to the South. Ebird states they are resident birds around China, Central Asia, Central Eastern Europe and parts of Europe.
The birds prefer dry plains, grasslands and desert type of areas. They are primarily insectivores and prefer common insects like termites, ants, bees, beetles, grasshoppers, cockroaches, mantis etc..
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback.
