The Black Tern is a rare visitor for our way inland area. This is either a juvenile or non-breeding adult. They both look so much alike. Far shot taken at 7:23 p.m. with the setting sun at Peace Valley Park, New Britain PA.

Only for you see, I uploaded this photo (not very well focused) because this tiny rare orchid was inside a glass terrarium.

It is so delicate and the size of each flower is no more than 5 milimeters. A rare species found in the Atlantic Forest, particularly in the region between Rio and São Paulo.

Rare species are often much appreciated by orchid growers, despite of not been as beautiful as other species.

When I stopped admiring the source of the Rhine and looked behind me, I saw these protected Alpine beauties, the large (5 - 20cm) Alpine asters! Not just one, but a whole bunch. I had to climb higher on a steep slope, but I absolutely wanted a good shot of them.

but since i returned from India we have been gripped in the coldest winter weather in memory ..

Brand new from Titans is the Etoile Fountain that can be found now at faMESHed..it's beautiful! The water textures are so real and it makes the most lovely falling water sound..sometimes fountains in SL sound well..... ODD...I'll leave it at that..this one is far from that...if you peek inside the fountain you can see tiny beautiful pieces of tile...texture change for winter and you can turn the water sounds off if you prefer...go check it out!! The architect designed another staircase to get from ground floor to second floor.

So there is the chance to photograph this staircase without interfering influences like a down coming spiral and railings.

The Pileated Woodpecker is in our area, but not in great abundance. I see one about every three years. Was thrilled to find this male in my favorite forest.

A leucistic plains zebra (Equus quagga) living in a herd of normally pigmented zebras. Leucism is a genetic condition in which there is partial loss of pigmentation in an animal resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration.

I captured this rare visitor to Michigan last Saturday evening. I had heard a bunch of rumbling while I was at work that one had showed up at the beach in one of our local metro parks. When I got off work, me and my wife went to mass and after words headed over to the park. We located him out on the beach. He allowed me to photograph him without being spooked for a little bit. I spent about 10 min rattling off a bunch of images and then left him alone. Figured he needed some food and rest for the rest of his journey.

He was standing just on shore when this little wave came in and splashed off of him.

I got a new perspective of my hometown this morning. The gates to the highly exclusive "Royal Brighton Yacht Club" were thrown open to the public for the "Keiser GREAT Australia Day Swim". The junior competitors started their race from the pier, swimming but to shore. I was primarily taking photos of my daughter, but couldn't resist turning 180˚ to take a sneaky pic' of the city.
