In the low but bright Autumn Sun I made my way to that ramshackle and wonderful 'citizens' garden', Shaffy's Tuin, which hugs Amsterdam's passenger train and ship terminals. Lots of ripening vegetables in their boxes, and Fall Flowers. But fewer Asters, it seemed to me, than other years.
Flowering still in full force colorful Dwarf Morning Glory, Convolvulus tricolor. Of course, insects in their pre-winter optimism couldn't resist. I saw at least four kinds of hoverflies, ordinary flies, bees and even a bumblebee or two. Here's the Common Banded Hoverfly, Syrphus ribesii, on a just opening Morning Glory Flower.
The castle Hardenberg is a former baroque moated castle in the district of Neviges of the city of Velbert. It lies in the valley of the Hardenberger Bach of the Nevigeser local core a little bit to the north at the narrowest place of the brook valley and decreases to a new establishment of the family of Gevertshagen at the end of the 15th century.
It substituted for the quite ramshackle castle Hardenberg whose remains about 630 metres found southwest of the castle.

Thanks for your support and although it's a day early, I hope you have a happy and safe weekend! 😊
I first took a photo of this house in 2011 and which is posted on my photostream. The wooden siding and porch has deteriorated quite a bit, but not as much as I would have thought. The tin roof really seems to have helped protect the old structure.
The side and peak of this house looks like it is yellow. The rest of the house looks like it is white. I think the tin roof was even painted white, which is unusual. It appears to be abandoned.
A little yard clean up, patch the holes and a new roof and you are good to go. It isn’t too bad.

Kulissenstadt für Popeye
Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is a purpose-built film set village, now converted into a small attraction fun park, consisting of a collection of rustic and ramshackle wooden buildings. It is located at Anchor Bay, 3 kilometres (2 mi) from the village core of Mellieħa, Malta.
Old Peacock's Jetty is a landmark in Sandy Bay. Right next to Wrest Point it truly is a relic from the past. This privately owned pier is a favourite with artists and photographers in the Hobart region - and no wonder why. There is something wonderfully appealing about a ramshackle structure like this amidst million dollar apartment buildings.
A jetty has existed at this site since 1913, but although this almost looks that old, this current one dates from 1940. Still, that's 80 years old now. And the good news is that there are some leaseholds currently available should you wish to take advantage of owning a piece of history.
www.realestate.com.au/news/sample-the-serenity-from-your-...
Peacock's Jetty is the last survivor of a string of some 23 such structures that jutted out into the Derwent along this strip of water. The modern Sandy Bay Marina has replaced them all except this one - which is now on the historical register.
Hit the "L" key to view the nice details in the image. This was one of those times when things just came together as I happened to arrive at this location, at this time of year, at this time of day, and with these weather conditions.
I took a picture of this little house two years ago. It has deteriorated quite a bit since then. The differences are quite evident. I expected the porch to collapse, but was surprised about the large hole in the side.
It still has the telltale pink paint on the top couple of boards.
The ‘For Sale’ sign is still on the front of the house. If there are any takers out there just let me know!
I have posted a picture of what it looked like two years ago in the first comment.
As the setting sun touches the distant mountains, lying in shadow is a rather dilapidated looking hut. Not quite a derelict, it is used by those who moor their sailboats about it.
This structure looks almost involuntarily nudged together, as if incorrect puzzle pieces were forced into place. An interesting assembly, it somehow melts in with the environment that will change after this brief moment of light.
Rural Minnesota. It seems to be a functioning farm, despite the ramshackle aspect of some buildings and a collection of ag equipment and old vehicles.
This was taken at the end of December last year. I am going by here in the next day or two. I am anxious to see if they are still standing.
Taken in the Northern Neck of Virginia.
Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village and Danish Village, is a film set purposely built village, now converted into a small attraction fun park, consisting of a collection of rustic and ramshackle wooden buildings. It is located at Anchor Bay, 3 kilometres (2 mi) from the village core of Mellieha, Malta.
I call this house the ‘holey molely’ house. Not because there are a lot of moles in there, but because there are a lot of holes in the house.
In fact, I didn’t see one mole, but I do think I caught a glimpse of a red fox. He might have built his den in this house, or maybe not. I guess it could have been a dog hunting for moles. I didn’t get close enough to find out.
I just recently saw this house as the summer vegetation began to die back. I hope you can see it as well. If not, just pretend it is there and give it a fave anyway :)))
This looks like new siding, so I thought it is good that someone is fixing this house up.
A few problems present themselves however. Am I crazy or is the left side of the house lower and totally out of square? It also appears that the roof is buckling in the middle. The front porch is rotten and there is a stake or pipe up through the porch roof. What’s that about?
Not to mention that they have hired the same local gardener, who isn’t very good! So, why the new siding if the house is structurally unsound?
This could be an abandoned house, but you can tell by the flag that it is being lived in. There are draperies at the windows and an air conditioning unit in the window. It needs some roof and gutter work and the shutters need replaced. Now that I look closer the siding is also in bad shape. I hope they fix it up instead of moving out. HWW!
A rural Iowa photo of an old ramshackle barn (and broken windmill), another barn that’s been repaired and a stormy backdrop.
The nicer barn has new red paint and a nice green steel roof. The cupola on the roof also has a new steel cap but it appears that they forgot to paint it. Happy Fence Friday!

This old house in Farnham, Virginia, is not presently occupied. It has an old rusting tin roof on the house and a tile roof on the porch. It looks like new siding has been installed on the top section. Hopefully it is going to be fully restored.
The entrance to the porch and the right side of the house is covered in vegetation. Of course, there are still Christmas lights on the porch and some chairs on which to sit and relax. HWW
This house in rural Virginia has blinds on the windows it has and no windows on the windows it hasn’t.
Is that gibberish?
Another deserted house which has a lot of windows. There is one window shade on the second floor which may be concealing something. Other than that, this house needs quite a lot of work, especially the roof and dormer area.
Taken off a rural road in Lancaster County, Virginia.
“It surely looks like the description we were given, Daryl. Pull the truck off to the side of the road and bring the chainsaw!”
“But Earl if you look through the bottom left window, you will see the firefighters are here too!”
“Daryl, do you see a fire, or a fire truck for that matter? That is just an old jacket or some kind of fabric left in the house. Com’on let’s get this job done!
“Okay, Earl. I’ll go in the house and start cutting down that tree which is growing out of the window.”
“ Hold it! Stop right there! I swear if you weren’t my cousin, I would fire you! That large tree is not growing out of the window. It is growing next to the house. The tree is a lot older than the house. Why would they build the house around the tree?”
“Maybe they wanted a tree house, Earl.”
“Daryl, just start cutting from the outside while I get a rope on the tree.” Earl said as he headed back toward the truck.
“Timber!” Earl stopped in his tracks. “NO, I didn’t just hear that did I?” He slowly turned around to find the tree was down, but many heavy top branches were resting on the roof and when they had crashed down had done some damage.
Daryl!!*#@ */&$’ he swore in a loud, angry shriek! “Now what are we going to do?”
Does anybody know how this should end?
