Cattle—colloquially cows—are the most common type of large domesticated ungulates. They are a prominent modern member of the subfamily Bovinae, are the most widespread species of the genus Bos, and are most commonly classified collectively as Bos taurus.

Cattle are commonly raised as livestock for meat (beef or veal, see beef cattle), for milk (see dairy cattle), and for hides, which are used to make leather. They are used as riding animals and draft animals (oxen or bullocks, which pull carts, plows and other implements). Another product of cattle is dung, which can be used to create manure or fuel. In some regions, such as parts of India, cattle have significant religious meaning. Cattle, mostly small breeds such as the Miniature Zebu, are also kept as pets.

Around 10,500 years ago, cattle were domesticated from as few as 80 progenitors in central Anatolia, the Levant and Western Iran. According to an estimate from 2011, there are 1.4 billion cattle in the world. In 2009, cattle became one of the first livestock animals to have a fully mapped genome.

Hedgehog "Erinaceinae"

I have seen many hedgehogs in my garden over the years, but usually after the sun has gone down and I haven't been able to photograph them, but this little chap came out of hiding in the daytime for a drink, they like to use the bird bath.

This has to be my favourite garden visitor, although they are quite secretive, Several years ago I hand raised 8 hedgehogs and then released them into my garden, it's great to think they are still around, there is a family with babies living under our compost heap.

I haven't been around much on flickr due to my bad internet connection and family commitments, hopefully my internet is fixed now, but I will have to wait and see :))

Thanks for stopping by, take care stay safe and have a great weekend !!

Closer, we're getting closer my friend

The light will lead us to the end

A previously unpublished shot from February 2018 that would never have been published had it not been for the pandemic. I missed the focus on the leading eye which is a big no-no for me so I had consigned this one to the archive of mistakes.

I hope that you like it though - I don't know when I will be able to get new images. Stay safe.

A male White-crowned Sparrow singing his heart out on an early spring evening.

Young males learn the basics of the songs they will sing as an adult during the first two or three months of their life. They don't directly learn from their fathers, but rather from the generalized song environment of their natal environment.

Because male White-crowned Sparrows learn the songs they grow up with and typically breed close to where they were raised, song dialects frequently form. Males on the edge of two dialects may be bilingual and able to sing both dialects.

If you can do view close up ! Have a blessed week ...

Both ears raised, this beautiful Brown Hare gave me a direct stare showing its lovely facial patterning and long whiskers which give it a good sense of touch. Blood vessels in the ears help to cool the Brown Hare down after running or on a hot day.

New L&B SwearTECH LE Demon Bomber Jacket Z07 has a limited edition texturing that adds even more great versatility to this jacket. I wore it in a more Cyberpunk fashion prior, but this one made me think of a grungy city.

Here is is the third week in a row with temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius and no rain, and the weather forecast is the same for the next 10 days.

The constant heat became almost unbearable.

Watering the garden is a daily job, although most of the trees and plants have signs of permanent damaging.

Few bees and butterflies appear in the evening when it's a bit cooler and I wonder how the birds are dealing with this, the water from their pots in the garden become hot after less than half an hour.

Are we responsible for what's happening? How hot it will be next year? Or over 10 years?

And if it's not enough for us to open the eyes and act, no matter how small our gestures are, let me remind you of the experiment of the boiling frog.
