I really miss seeing these stunning river birds up close .. I captured this image of the kingfisher in the pouring rain ☔ at my local nature reserve which is currently closed for refurbishment.
While making our journey East this fall, we spent a day hiking along the Ottawa River at one of our campsites. It was a grey day with spotted rain, but we had our gear to keep us dry. It was a perfect day for cloud watching. Days like this can get some people down. When it’s a calm warm day, I embrace these earth tones and the earthy smells that the woods release to our senses. After the walk, we settle into a cozy trailer and it becomes “cuddle weather” with a good book.
