I wished on the Moon --Billie Holiday 1935

Every night was long and gloomy, shadows gathered in the air

No one ever listened to me, no one wondered did I care

None in all the world to love me, none to count that stars that hung

Then the moon came out above me and I saw that it was young

I wished on the moon for something I never knew

Wished on the moon for more than I ever knew

A sweeter rose, a softer sky

An April day that would not dance away

I begged of a star to throw me a beam or two

Wished on a star and asked for a dream or two

I looked for ev'ry loveliness, it all came true

I wished on the moon for you

~Ralph Rainger and Dorothy Parker

When them cowpokes are off wranglin' the herds, the ladies saunter on down to the local saloon to let off some steam.

Well, ain't they lucky? Marshal Rainger 'n his trusty steed, Shadow Storm, got their backs, they do.

They's always fixin' to give 'em a lift back home if they done had too much to sip.

Well shoot, ridin' in the saddle sure can be a heap dangerous if'n they tumble off. That’s why the Marshal cinches 'em in tight below.

Sebuah band indie yang telah di'FUCK' atas dasar apa pun, aku masih kabur. Mungkin aku kolot dan tak 'up to date' tapi yang pasti aku tetap sokong dan akan terus jadi rainger selamanya. Insyaallah! Hidup hujan! Hujan makin lebat................

This is one of those mashups everyone wishes they had thought of. It seems so obvious in hindsight.

Bought the Double LP 11.9.1986 in Stockholm 144 Kr

One of my last LPs I bought in 1986, and this one in Stockholm, Sweden. Haven't found it in Finland.

Weather Report live performances from all around the world. Most of the songs are were from their previous LPs. The band was the best they ever had. Pastorius is still in the bass. He's got a wonderful solo: Slang! - A bit nostalgic to listen all these wonderful performances.

I saw Weather Report once live in Helsinki and Zawinul's band once too.

This is the Blue Hawaii, a classic tiki cocktail created by Harry Yee at the Hawaiian Village Hotel in Waikiki, Hawaii in 1957. Yee was approached to create cocktail using a new product from the dutch distiller Bols, blue curaçao. He kept it fairly simple, using a dry white rum, vodka, pineapple juice and sweet-and-sour mix. The name is derived from a song of the same name for the 1937 film Waikiki Wedding (written by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger, performed by Bing Crosby). The drink was a hit with tourists, especially with its blue-green color, novelty paper cocktail umbrella, and orchid garnish, all three which were firsts in tiki cocktails.

My previous self would dismiss this cocktail on-sight. After trying, it's not the most sophisticated cocktail, but it's undeniably delicious. The vodka and rum keep the drink very mellow, while the pineapple and the blue curaçao do most of the work. The recipe below is my own tweaked version, which intentionally avoids sweet-and-sour mix. The key with this cocktail (and any other tiki cocktail) is using fresh ingredients. This is a laid back cocktail meant to feel like vacation. There's no need to bring any stress or ego about wanting to drink one of these.

1 oz vokda

1 oz white cuban-style rum (see note for recommendations)

1.5 oz fresh pineapple juice

0.75 oz blue curaçao

0.75 oz fresh lemon juice (or lime)

1 tsp simple syrup (depends on how sweet/ripe your pineapple is)

Combine all of the ingredients into a shaker tin. Add a small scoop of crushed or pebble ice. Whip-shake until all or most of the ice is melted. Pour unstrained into a large chilled hurricane glass (the only proper glassware choice for this cocktail). Top with more crushed or pebble ice. Garnish with a pineapple chunk, a paper umbrella, and an edible orchid (or whatever feels appropriately tiki that you have on-hand).

Note: You can use only vodka or only rum if you wish and still get the same basic result. White rums that I love are Flor de Caña 4 year, Plantation 3 Star, and Brugal Extra Dry.

Oskar Fischinger planned to pursue a career in engineering. In the early 1920s, Fischinger came into contact with Frankfurt’s avant-garde and soon discovered film’s potential to create a more spiritual, wholly abstract art built on models already established by such artists as Vasily Kandinsky.

Fischinger is credited for popularizing abstract filmmaking in the United States. Early films present amorphous forms choreographed to popular music. He supported his experimental film career with commercial work, most notably, by designing the special effects for German director Fritz Lang’s 1929 feature, Woman in the Moon (Frau im Mond). In 1936, after obtaining a contract from Paramount Studios, Fischinger relocated to Los Angeles. He was subsequently employed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Walt Disney, where he briefly worked as a director on Fantasia (1940). One notable project is Allegretto (1943), a work consisting of more than 2,500 individually painted cells. When played, Allegretto presents the viewer with a sequence of moving abstract shapes, colors, and planes set to a jazz score by American composer Ralph Rainger.

In 1949, Fischinger’s Motion Painting (No. 1) (1947) won a grand prize for experimental film at the Festival mondial du film et des beaux-arts de Belgique. During his lifetime, his work was exhibited at solo shows at the Nierendorf Gallery, New York (1938), and the San Francisco Museum of Art (now San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, 1953). Unable to securing funding for his films after 1949, Fischinger increasingly turned to painting and created a substantial body of work.

Close to 30 minutes, if you don't count all the thinking, looking for photos and waiting for glue to dry. So much easier than back in the day when we'd endlessly cut paper to get an effect like this. And yes, I just happen to have a bucket of crushed shells from the beach in my basement!

Journaling: Somewhere around the age of three, you developed a thing for Ariel from The Little Mermaid. You thought she was the most beautiful girl on earth. You wanted Ariel dolls, but nothing else. You talked to her and brushed her hair, took her in the tub, slept with her, I even saw you kissing her goodnight a few times. There were never any other dolls, no other Ariel "stuff", just Ariel herself. The rest of the time you played with Legos and Power Raingers and trains, normal boy stuff. When we went to Disney just before you turned four, we stood in line 45 minutes to see Ariel in her Grotto.....twice. It was one of your favorite memories of that trip. Eating out one day I watched you stare in awe at a young lady (teenager) with long hair and a long flowing skirt. You told me she was beautiful. She wasn't, she just had long hair and flowing skirts...like Ariel. I realized you had a very healthy fixation with Ariel - your first crush.

Are Coffee Cups The Perfect Promotional Gifts For Businesses To Give Their Clients?

How to promote your business is always a difficult question for business owners and Managers and Christmas time will always be a good time to reach out and touch base with people and strengthen your relationship with your existing and good customers. A personalised printed gift serves well to give you the excuse to go for a personalised visit, promoting yourself and your organisation for years to come.

Printed gifts and promotional products are never in greater demand than Christmas time. It is also the Busiest time for the printed gifts and promotional products industry – so it is always a good idea to get your order in months ahead of schedule to avoid any Disappointment.

[caption id="attachment_151" align="alignleft" width="640" caption="Coffee Cups are one of the best Christmas gifts to give your clients"][/caption]

How to choose the best promotional products for business Christmas gifts

But what promotional item, gift or incentive do you choose when there is such a huge variety of printed options available. One way to identify the best gift from the multi million dollar Australain gift and incentive promotion industry is to sort out if the gift for your staff or your customers.

When choosing a promotional product to give as a gift, select an item that they will use on a regular basis and carry positive connotations. In the caffeine-fueled world of many office environments, a promotional coffee cup is the perfect choice.

One of my personal favorites for its long term promotional effectiveness is the printed Coffee cup. These last longer than wine glasses (at least in my household). Not only can these last 10 years or more, they often end up in very high profile locations, such as on desks, next to the phone and computer, proudly showing off your business logo, phone number and email address. These can be particularly effective in the transport industry and other office environments where they are often very welcome additions to lunch rooms and smoko areas. Obviously, its critical that you have an attractive logo, slogan and your contact details clearly but tastefully printed on the cups to ensure you get your message across.

Coffee cups are often classified into the ‘on desk’ promotional items category along with promotional rulers, pens, mouse pads, mouses, post-it notes, desk pads, notepads, pen holders, clocks, and other promotional office items. The variety of on-desk promotional printing is quite astounding: if you'd like to see the variety drop into our showroom at 72 Woodward Street, Edge Hill and we can find the perfect promotional gift for your business this year.

If you are targeting ordering or purchasing manager in another organisation a printed promotional coffee cup may be the perfect gift. Not only will it promote your business, it will be useful and last a long time. A great thing to give when you make your Christmas visit – they are always useful, always made use of and your customers at the very least will always appreciate you made the effort to call with something for them.

Merry Christmas

Cheers
