I hate that you can't control the sequence of photos as you upload. Flickr needs to make this easier.

Anyways, this guy busted a great move. He nailed the landing.

The weather in California for December and January has been like springtime. I took the opportunity to visit my favorite beach near Santa Cruz. I started by shooting the surfers but as the waves grew messy and the light too strong in the direction I needed, I soon had the lens pointing in the direction of the better light and some amazing wave shapes. The results were better than I hoped as the bright light can make the display hard to see.

I was so amazed at the quality of these that I switched to just waves for the rest of the day and beyond. I was soon back shooting the surfers when the action was better and I had better light, but I now have a new focus on the details of the waves I sometimes take for granted.

Taken over a two day period of great surf here in Santa Cruz California. I set up on the cliff on November second and third for these shots at Natural Bridges State Park. The swell had increased by the second day and the lines were cleaner. I was one of many photographers and videographers this day. I tried to get as close as I could with the lens setup I have. I wish I had a better lens so I could use the auto focus but the extender brings me close at a fraction of the price. No hand holding the camera at these distances so i used the good tripod for stable and controlled panning.

I had to post this up to show the size of this beast that Kelly Slater dropped in on. This ride would score him a perfect 10 from all 5 judges in this heat.
