I unfortunately don't have any KCS photos to post for this, so here's a photo of SD60s on a ballast train from almost a year ago. I was pretty upset at the time, the not so great weather conditions, combined with them backing into South Haven siding instead of continuing further west. Now, it's kinda nice to have a pair of matching 60s to post on this night.
P&W 4302 and BPRR 2004 are tied down in DuBois Yard. In between the two, the hind end of SIRI is visible.

BA&P GP9 106 leads a train of copper concentrate gondolas from the UP and BNSF interchanges in Silver Bow toward Butte, MT. The BNSF line into Butte parallels to the left (South).
Florida East Coast local 915 crosses Crane Creek Viaduct in Melbourne after completing a run-around move at Palm Bay siding.

AZCR GP9R 3413, GP7 2279, and GP7 2164 lead the new pair of GP38-3s to supplement the Arizona Central's fleet across the majestic SOB Canyon as they approach their destination in Clarkdale, AZ. With seven locomotives on the property now, the three first generation Geeps somehow continue to be the primary power it seems with one of the new units being tossed into the mix sometimes.
With snow flying UP Train PHYSG2 22 departs Hays behind Big Boy 4014 on the UP Sharon Springs Sub. This day marked an incredible event; a real live UP 4000 knocking snow off the rails of the KP. Never would've imagined something like this would take place. This easily places in my top 5 days as a railfan. What a sight!

A fine looking IC SD40-2R leads UP Train MTTPB 14 down the UP Jonesboro Sub. just south of Dexter along MO Highway Highway 25. That Nathan P5 sounded pretty awesome as I recall. You probably won't find one of these leading on the UP now.
6050 was built as GM&O 901, an SD40 in 2-1966, builder number 31007, frame number 7843-1. It passed to the Illinois Central Gulf as ICG 6050, and later back to the new IC and rebuilt to Dash-2 specifications. CN scrapped it at Woodcrest, IL in 8-2010 during the recession.

Amtrak's 50th Anniversary Phase III-wrapped ACS-64 662 kicks up fresh snow while in charge of train 91, the Silver Star at Edison, NJ.

SB-3 has just arrived back on home rails after picking up a large cut of cars from CP's Taylor Yard a few miles to the south. The Steamtown excursion boarding platform is seen at left and is interestingly situated between two active D-L freight lines (the Pocono Main and Laurel Line). Bridge 60 Tower can be seen in the distance, just above the power.

CN 1439 drills hoppers in the yard at Brantford. This unit only lasted 4 hours at Brantford before being swapped out for different power.
It was accidentally set off the day prior by CN 435 and 580 ended up using it because of their power running out of fuel. Talk about stars aligning.
Not sure why it took me so long to get a pace shot along this stretch of highway, but better late than never right? Here a pair of IC 40s sandwich 2 other CN units on this empty southbound. Creds to Jacob for driving as we got our shots.

At WB Jct. on the NS Kansas City District, the Central of Georgia Railway Heritage Locomotive leads NS Train 48T in a freezing drizzle as it waits to get on the congested BNSF Marceline Sub.
This was only my second time seeing the CG Unit, the last time was by happenstance on the BNSF in Iowa while storm chasing several years ago.

With temperatures floating above 0c today the snow was heavy. Still wanting to access a new angle near my favorite spot I hopped on our ATV and made the trek.
CP 130 Emegerges From the Windsor tunnel with a solo ACU leading up front. The whole day was filled with clouds and got lucky with lighting. The beautiful fall colors appearing in the background

Warm late afternoon lighting greets Conrail ALSE-8 as it rolls through the curve east of Ridgefield Park station. This was a time when standard cab EMD SDs ruled the River Line and were actually considered "boring" power. How times have changed! Conrail was formed 47 years ago as of the date this is posted. While it no longer exists in the same state it once did, the Conrail name lives on in New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania and in the Detroit, MI "shared assets" regions. Happy Birthday Conrail!

Still sporting their iconic cascade green paint, two former BN special dutys hustle BNSF's 815 local westbound out of Creston, IA. The deceptively fast little train is crossing the Middle Plate River, a tributary to the much larger Nebraskan Platte River.
Long on my railfan bucket list, a trip through the southland in the summer of 2015 afforded an opportunity to pass through Augusta while railfanning our way north from Atlanta destined for Spencer and the 611's rebirth party. We arrived in Augusta with no clue as to if or when one of the the R Line's few trains trains might be due in. A pass by the small yard office and a chat with the friendly crew gave us a heads up that southbound 155 (Spencer Yard Linwood, NC to Dillard Yard Savannah, GA) wasn't far off so we set up on 6th street and less than an hour later were rewarded.
Here the train is seen snaking off the Savannah River bridge from South Carolina and starting down the nearly 3/4 mile long stretch of street street trackage approaching the intersection with Broad St. in the heart of downtown on former Southern rails.
What a treat to finally see this street running after all these years!

Following traditions of the BCR, CN still operates track patrol foreman ahead of trains in certain dangerous segments of the line. Posing for a shot on the main, a CN Hi-rail takes a quick break during his routine patrol along the beautiful Howe Sound.
NS 4000, one of the specially-painted AC44C6M rebuilds leads NS train 112 past Kansas City Union Station on this pleasant, Wednesday afternoon. NS 112 runs from NS's Luther Yard in StL to BNSF's Argentine Yard in Kansas City, KS.
Charging up the grade at Racey, Quebec with no less than four SD40-2Fs and a GP38-3 for good measure, Central Maine & Quebec train no. 2 kicks up some snow as a signal maintainer watches on and gives a friendly salute.
For most of us in the railfan community, our super bowl, at least in Virginia, came in the form of CSX returning the Santa train to the rails. I was actually on a trip to Arizona when this was announced, and immediately made plans to head down to the Clinchfield when I returned back to Virginia. The shot at Dante was my primary goal for the day- I wanted this scene, and anything else was a bonus. Instead of chasing down from further north, I actually set up here as my first shot, and it was a decision I did not regret. You've all seen my other earlier frames here, but I liked this nice close crop of the absolutely gorgeous CSX OCS train which was put into Santa train service. I was very happy with my strategic decision to go for the shot I really knew I wanted, and this was easily one of the coolest chases of a train I have ever participated in.
On a humid and gloomy day I met a fellow Railfan from Bournemouth UK and even if the weather wasn't perfect we caught quite a few trains including this overpowered local who had just picked up that Refer from Newport Cold Storage. We also ran into Duwayne Shogren who provided some great insights and history for our foreign visitor.
Not long after the sun set, KCSM 4521 lights up the Kootenay Valley with a manifest from the UP for Lethbridge. The Union Pacific Railroad doesn't build their trains to the standards of the CPKC, so the crew would spend the majority of their hours rearranging the train at Fenwick, pushing it's Sparwood arrival long into the night.
A CN SD60F leads UP Train MTTPB 11 as it pulls away from a crew change at North Dexter on the UP Chester Sub. Canadian National purged their fleet of SD60F's from their roster in 2017.

After seeing a fellow Brižita at this spot it was time to head to another famous location at Črnotiče. Here the collection of photographers from Germany, Italy, Hungary and myself from the UK didn't have to wait long for another 363 to head up the ramp.
This time Sz 363-008 did the honours with a SZ hopper rake. This made the shot even nicer with an interesting rake to go with the lovely location. The blue of the Adriatic near Trieste can just be seen in the background above all of the green!
Huron & Eastern's 701 rolls north through Zilwaukee behind U23B 8903, B30-7 5492 and C30-7 5175. It's April of 2010, and the HESR GEs on running on borrowed time. By the end of 2012, all of them would be either scrapped or sold off.
