So my buddy and I, Stella are shooting birds down the canal when we stumbled across this man sitting under this graffiti. he hadn't even noticed it till I pointed it out to him.
London Calling is the third studio album by the English rock band the Clash, originally released as a double album in the United Kingdom on 14 December 1979.
The album's cover photograph by Pennie Smith became one of the most recognisable images, and Q magazine later cited it as the "best rock 'n roll photograph of all time". During this period, The Clash began to be regularly billed as "The Only Band That Matters". The album's front cover features a photograph of bassist Paul Simonon smashing his Fender Precision Bass against the stage at the Palladium in New York City on 20 September 1979.
Like many early punk bands, The Clash protested against monarchy and aristocracy, but unlike many of their peers, they rejected nihilism. Instead, they found solidarity with a number of liberation movements and were involved with groups such as the Anti-Nazi League. At their performance on 30 April 1978 at the Rock Against Racism concert in London's Victoria Park for a crowd of between 50,000 and 100,000 people,[127] Strummer wore a T-shirt identifying two far-left armed militant groups: Italy's Red Brigades (Brigate Rosse, misspelt as Brigade Rosse on the T-shirt) and West Germany's Red Army Faction. A peace rally in Farmington, Michigan got ugly when some KKK members butsted into the parade. The clan member is the one that is on the receiving end.
I had planned on posting one of my Prague / Praha photos next but this shot seemed more appropriate in light of what happened today in my country....hard to be on vacation and not hear about the horror of neo-Nazis getting violent against anti-racism demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia today.
It's not that I couldn't see this happening in my country. Of course, I didn't want to believe it but I think we've always had a huge problem. I try to tell myself that in any country of this enormous size, there are bound to be some very good people and some very deplorable people who are willing to commit acts of terrorism and murder against people in their own country because they are so committed to hateful ideology.
But, I also know we have an administration that actively sought out for it to be legal in many states for cars to hit protestors, who encourage hatred against anyone who isn't rich, white, male, and able bodied, and has cut funding for anti-hate programs. Some of this racism has laid slightly dormant below the surface for decades and comes from a long line of both "nature" (genetics) and "nurture" (or lack thereof as the ignorant raise the ignorant). We've also dumbed down our public education system and forced teachers to teach to the test not to teach kids to think for themselves.
Between the problems Trump has created between North Korea and the turmoil inherent now with poor Guam and now the threats to Venezuela...when is the crazy going to end. I'm not going to stop protesting myself but all Americans need to be out on the streets taking back their country. We cannot allow America to turn into a nazi regime. We have to fight back. It shouldn't be merely about resistance either. It should be about creating a kind, safe world filled with empathy for us all. Certainly, this world is Gegen Racism or Against Racism. A sign I posted a photo of many weeks ago at the Women's March rings a bell at the moment as well...I am not free when any human is not free. Freedom is an easy word to say and perhaps too easy as it has been used for too much propaganda. We must fight for the Liberty of all.

An Anti-Racism activist with a message on Regent Street, London, during Saturday's March Against Racism.
The rally was organised to mark UN Anti-Racism Day and came at a moment when ethnic minorities feel under severe assault on multiple fronts. Covid 19 and the recent surge in the cost of living have both had a disproportionate and devastating impact on black and other minority communities, while the Nationality and Borders Bill will criminalize asylum seekers and gives the government the power to strip the citizenship away from as many as six million people.
Meanwhile the Ukraine war is revealing Britain's double standards on refugees. Newspapers that were calling for the navy to be deployed to repel small boats of desperate victims of conflict and famine in Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan, are now declaring how we can be proud of our efforts to house those fleeing Ukraine. Some activists on Saturday's march carried placards reminding us that we should welcome refugees from ALL wars.
Although it is good to see Ukrainian refugees being housed in Britain, elementary morality would suggest that our responsibility to those fleeing Yemen and Afghanistan is even greater, as it is British and US aircraft and bombs that are targeting hospitals, markets and schools in Yemen, while Western sanctions are inflicting severe shortages of essentials and near famine conditions on millions in Afghanistan.
