The wonderful Imelda May belting out another fantastic Rock - Blues - Rockabilly tune at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

Taken with my Canon G9, easily the best venue images I have ever got. I took 800 so I was bound to get a few nice ones in focus etc.. but I was suprised to see many of them were exactly how I wanted them, the black background was perfect and the G9 makes that black really perfect black.

See and Hear her here, classy stuff

Bluesfest London 2011, www.bluesfestlondon.com/.

Country: United States - New Orleans. Style: R and B.

Lineup: Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews (trombone/trumpet/v), Tim McFatter (tenor sax), Dan Oestricher (baritone sax), Pete Murano (g), Mike Ballard (bass g), Joey Peebles (d), Dwayne Williams (congas).

For their encore they swapped instruments, and lined up as: Ballard (trumpet), Williams (trombone), Murano (tenor sax), Peebles (g), McFatter (bass g), Andrews (d), Oestricher (congas).>/i>

Troy Andrews was born in Treme in 1986. He is 16 years younger than his older brother, James Andrews. He took up the trombone at a very early age (his first out of town gig with James was aged 4). It was soon after that his brother gave him his moniker, so it has nothing to do with his current height. Aged 7 he lead his first band (Tiny Toones Brass Band), followed by the Trombone Shorty Brass Band. Later he was part of the New Birth Brass Band. Troy Andrews moved away from brass Band music with Orleans Avenue, initially formed with a number of fellow students at NOCCA (New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts).

Well... I decided to to a PAW for one year (52 weeks) with a musical theme.

Which I will try to interpretate the lyrics in songs (either just the chorus, one line or even the whole lyric).

So 52 weeks, 52 pictures to 52 different songs

So please keep track of this project of mine (and comment what you feel about them)... since I'm doing this as a study for both taking pictures and my own imagination

Week 6

Well... i haven't done a hitlist/Billboard pop song yet, so why not try on the nr.1 song here in Denmark.

And also it really fits those days, since it has been raining like hell here the last week (mudbath f.ex. in Roskilde festival)

Not really what this song is about (at least when Rihanna is singing, while the Jay-z thing is really.... REALLY empty lyric)

Enjoy

Rihanna - Umbrella

2007

Good Girl Gone Bad

Jay-Z:

Ahuh Ahuh (Yea Rihanna)

Ahuh Ahuh (Good girl gone bad)

Ahuh Ahuh (Take three... Action)

Ahuh Ahuh

No clouds in my storms

Let it rain

I hydroplane into fame (Eh eh)

Come'n down with the Dow Jones

When the clouds come we gone

We Rocafella (Eh eh)

She fly higher than weather

And she rocks it better

You know me

An anticipation for precipitation

stacks chips for the rainy day (Eh eh)

Jay, rain man is back with lil Ms. Sunshine

Rihanna where you at?

[VERSE 1]

You had my heart

and we'll never be world apart

Maybe in magazines

but you'll still be my star

Baby cause in the Dark

You can see shiny Cars

And that's when you need me there

With you I'll always share

Because

[CHORUS]

When the sun shines

We’ll shine together

Told you I'll be here forever

That I'll always be your friend

Took an oath

I'mma stick it out 'till the end

Now that it's raining more than ever

Know that we still have each other

You can stand under my Umbrella

You can stand under my Umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

[VERSE 2]

These fancy things,

will never come in between

You're part of my entity

Here for Infinity

When the war has took it's part

When the world has dealt it's cards

If the hand is hard

Together we'll mend your heart

Because ...

[CHORUS]

When the sun shines

We'll shine together

Told you I'll be here forever

That I'll always be your friend

Took an oath

I'mma stick it out 'till the end

Now that it's raining more than ever

Know that we still have each other

You can stand under my Umbrella

You can stand under my Umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

[BRIDGE]

You can run into my Arms

It's okay don't be alarmed

(Come into Me)

(There's no distance in between our love)

So Gonna let the rain pour

I'll be all you need and more

Because ...

[CHORUS]

When the sun shines

We'll shine Together

Told you I'll be here forever

That I'll always be your friend

Took an oath

I'mma stick it out 'till the end

Now that it's raining more than ever

Know that we still have each other

You can stand under my Umbrella

You can stand under my Umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

It's raining (raining)

Ooo baby it's raining

baby come into me

Come into me

It's raining (raining)

Ooo baby it's raining

You can always come into me

Come into me......

8th April 2005 at Kohlmeyer Lawn, New Orleans, USA.

French Quarter Festival, www.fqfi.org/.

Country: United States - New Orleans. Style: Brass Band.

Lineup: Probably include Corey Henry (trombone), George Veals (trombone), Mervin Campbell (trumpet), Travis Hill (trumpet), Vincent Broussard (alto sax), Jeffrey Hills (sousaphone), Terence Andrews (bass d), Terry Nelson (snare d).

Corey Henry, the leader of the Lil Rascals Brass Band, is the nephew of Benny Jones (leader of the Treme Brass Band) and grandson of Chester Jones (drummer with a number of different brass bands) and son of Oswald “Boe Monkey” Jones (grand marshall with the Treme Brass Band). He founded the band in 1987 when he was 10, and it has gone through periods of activity and inactivity since (I think it has been inactive for the last few years). Henry has played with Kermit Ruffin and the Rebirth Brass Band. There is a high degree of interchange between brass bands. Of the others I believe were in this lineup, Mervin Campbell has been in the Treme Brass Band, Vincent Broussard the Rebirth Brass Band and Terrence Andrews the Hot 8 Brass Band. Terrence Andrews and Terry Nelson are members of the extended Andrews family which includes numerous brass band musicians (of which Eldridge Andrews, Glen David Andrews and Derrick Taub have at one time or the other been members of Lil Rascals).

Most of my pre-digital camera photos are of dubious quality (probably more down to the original photo than the digitising process), but I hope they are still worth uploading.
