This clip which featured me in the background was repeated on BBC One, September 16th 2004, as part of a programme celebrating 25 years of "Question Time"

I’ve been greatly inspired recently to hear that the entire travelling BBC Question Time lighting system has been converted to LED.

 

The last two programmes broadcast were entirely lit with LED. The power consumption for the show is now just 25% of what it was before.

 

There are other spin-off power benefits to this – almost no heat from the lamps means that aircon is reduced, also saving power – so the overall saving is quite high. Less cable (just 10%) also means less manufacturing pollution – the list goes on.

 

It’s good to see that it’s now very feasible to dump the 1kW lights in favour of 100watt ones.

I later saw loudhailers being confiscated by the police.
