Another slide restoration and this one was very faded but I think I've done OK getting the details out.
Having seen what it was I found out a little about it. Firstly, it's in the High Street in Pinner and was taken in December 1981. The cars of the time are clearly on show and the Rover in the foreground I always associate with as the Prime Minister's official car. There is a lovely Christmas tree on the right of the image, and the shops have made an effort with festive lights too.
There has been a pub (or inn) on the site since 1540, but it is thought that it may have been such an establishment some time before. It was known as 'The Crown' until about 1715. Certainly the building is of great age, as the cellars date back to the 12th Century.
The real claim to fame is that Eleanor Nelson (Horatio's only daughter) was killed outside by a bolting horse in 1872 and it's said that her ghost still roams the rooms of the pub.
It is November, but we still have lots of butterflies in the garden.

Given that parts of the U.S. and Canada are caught in the grip of record breaking cold, I decided to go for something warmer today. This textured, painterly rendition of the 4 Queens Hotel and Casino was taken on a warm night in May a few years ago in downtown Las Vegas.
Spidey Queens, Spidey Queens, Doing what ever Spidey Queens do, spinning webs...sucking out inards....loook out! They're the spidey queens
Not the person to play poker with..;) My daughter couldn't believe the size of the cruise ships in Galveston. This shot is from an earlier trip. The weather didn't cooperate with our trip and it rained a lot, so we did in door tourist stuff. Her and grandson still had a great time. Neither had ever been to Galveston
I did not get my Milky Way shots at Bryce due to mostly overcast skies, but this does not mean the visit was a complete loss, as I had time to hike down into the canyon.
This rather unusual perspective of Bryce Canyon is a handheld panorama taken near Queens Garden.
Once upon a time when I was in my youth this was my local, The Queens. A dodgy landlord who was happy to serve 15 year olds as long as you sat in the back room. It was a rough old dive, a typical English suburbs pub with the usual mix of locals, young and old. New owners arrived with plans to fancy things up and turned it into the The Queens Hotel.
It was never going to work and it failed miserably. Such a shame but good memories.

Got home from work grabbed Jen and the camera and headed off to Wentworth falls to check out the flow!!! The flow was a bit disappointing to be honest but I didn't mind this shot in the mist and all. This shot was taken in the actual water bare feet with the Manfrotto poised precariously in the drink!!! ... have a good weekend!!!
