It is the oldest church in Canada and was the first church in Canada to be elevated to the rank of minor basilica, by Pope Pius IX in 1874.

The beautiful church on the Quebec's Grande Allée est , is no longer active due to the lack of the public interest and funding , as we were told by one of the volunteers there . Walking inside you'll find a fascinating flea market where used books , music records , toys etc. can be found . Sadly , but the place is going to be partly demolished and re-build as an exclusive condo building .
