Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster, and, by extension, for the clock tower itself, which stands at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, England. Originally named the Clock Tower, it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The clock is a striking clock with five bells
The Latin Quarter of Paris is situated on the left bank of the Seine, around the Sorbonne.
Known for its student life, lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is the home to a number of higher education establishments besides the university itself, such as the Lang–Martinez Psychiatric Hospital, the École des Mines de Paris, Panthéon-Assas University, the Schola Cantorum, and the Jussieu university campus. Other establishments such as the École Polytechnique have relocated in recent times to more spacious settings.
The area gets its name from the Latin language, which was once widely spoken in and around the University since Latin was the language of learning in the Middle Ages in Europe.

The Quay Quarter building was a key focal point all night. Beautiful in natural evening light and amazing when lit up in colours. www.quayquartersydney.com.au/

I made this image just over two years ago. When I started my Norther Quarter Project in April of this year I spent some time looking for this shop to re-shoot. I knew where it was, but couldn't figure out why I couldn't find it. Eventually it dawned on me that it is next door to the Lower Turk's Head and is now a wine bar that is an extension to the pub. The facade is nowhere near as much fun as this! The pub is #045 in this series:

The Northwest European population of Bewick’s Swan winters mainly in Britain, the Netherlands and Germany, with smaller numbers in Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and France. The population breeds at high latitudes in Arctic Russia from the Fenno-Russian border east to the Lena Delta.
There are also two other populations of Bewick’s Swan: an eastern population which breeds in Arctic Russia to the east of the Lena Delta and winters in Japan, China and Korea; and a much smaller population that winters in the Caspian Sea region.
The Northwest European population is a conservation priority, having declined by more than a quarter since the mid 1990s. An AEWA Single Species Action Action Plan was published in 2012 to focus and coordinate conservation efforts.
