Rien c'est beaucoup! Ne dit-on pas: le bonheur est fait de tout petits riens?
Carlo Rovelli (L’ordine del tempo, 2017)
The multiverse is a hypothetical group of multiple universes in quantum physics. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, information, and the physical laws and constants that describe them.
No one knows for certain if they actually exist or not but if they do I imagine they might look something like this.
Happy Sliders Sunday!
A very belated Birthday Image for my good friend and co-founder of "PANO-Vision", Paul Ewing.
I've blended my usual big city architectural pano-sabotage imagery with a few subtle nods to Paul and his work here. I've noted, frequently, the deep blue of his Arizona skies and he fantastic light that the State seems to have. And off to the right is a shot of my own lengthy shadow, a motif which occurs a lot in Paul's magnificent work. There's something very Joseph Beuys about that shadow, particularly in Paul's work because of his wearing a hat, which is one of Beuys' signature markers.
Included in the image is a quote form Quantum Physicist, David Bohm, from his book, "Wholeness and the Implicate Order". Paul and I have had many a lengthy discussion of how Pano-Sabotage seems to reflect several quantum concepts which question the singular, dictatorial authority of Classical Mechanical Theory and the resultant dangerous mess that such has wrought on the world.
Two Pano-Sabotage pieces next to each other and 4 SOOC shots layered in, looping lines for unification and a text enhancement.

This is another sunrise shot from that enchanted corner of our busy world, the meanders of the river Adda near Airuno. If you think that it is very similar to the previous one, The Round of the four Elements, you are right: this is the very same view, taken some minutes later with a different lens, so that it is classifiable as a "detail landscape".
In the previous wideangle shot I felt strongly the intimate interplay of the traditional four Elements - whence the title. Here, correspondingly, I was impressed by the feeling that the river and the wetland beyond were transpiring forgotten tales together with the mist. Tales told in the secret language of Nature, which we can obscurely understand since we are among Nature's children. Tales as ancient as the world. Tales from the Earth.
I was a blessed beholder of this little miracle - when I deeply felt that the whole universe is an infinitely interconnected totality, where everything is in intimate relationship with everything else - as modern physics teaches us. I am glad to have had a chance to capture at least some scraps of the magic of this moment and offer it to other people.
This image comes from a blending of a -1.7/0/+1.7ev bracketing by luminosity masks, processed in The Gimp. The more I explore this technique, the more I feel amazed by its versatility and seemingly unlimited power in post-processing.

A relatively recent discovery in the realm of physics, quantum entanglement is bizarre, eerie, mysterious, and seemingly magical. Albert Einstein shied away from the theory, calling it "spooky action at a distance." Since then, however, numerous experiments have confirmed this strange phenomenon. Basically, entangled particles can be separated from each other, over incredibly long distances--light years, in fact--and still mysteriously change when its partner is acted upon, almost as if there were an invisible umbilical cord connecting them. This seemingly conscious connection between entangled particles even occurs faster than the speed of light, a fact that made Einstein so leery about this possibility. The frontier of scientific discovery always has been a place of wonder, imagination, curiosity and delight, and never more so than in our time. This topic is very complex; this is only the most basic description of the phenomenon, and I am but an enthralled layman. That aside, it's incredibly fascinating--I suggest you take the time to learn a little about it! The ramifications of this discovery are very interesting--some even speculate that people can be entangled in a way, an incredibly fascinating ramification that only suggests something many of us believe anyway, though for different reasons.
Needless to say, the Universe is a big, strange and wonderful place.

My montage today was inspired by the art of Rene Shute, but all elements are my own photographs. It features a beautiful old clock you can see in downtown Vallejo on Georgia Street, which people call “The Alibi Clock”.
Back in 1916 there was a pipe bomb explosion in San Francisco that killed 10 people. Labor leaders Thomas Mooney and Warren Billings were arrested. During their trial, one of the key pieces of evidence pointing towards Mooney’s innocence was a photograph of him with a large public clock in the background. Although the clock was not in Vallejo at the time, neither was it anywhere near the explosion. In spite of that, Mooney was convicted and sentenced to hang – apparently in an incident proving Erwin Schrödinger’s theory of superposition, with Mr. Mooney being in two places at the same time.
Fortunately, the “Alibi Clock” piece of evidence enabled a reassessment of the case some years later, and a pardon was granted.

Honey bee and coral vine
Taken at the Garden of Fragrance in Singapore Chinese Garden.
Many honey bees were busily flying all over the coral vine on a fence like structure. But they did not stay still at any spot for a long time. Most of the time, they would fly off immediately upon touching the flowers.
Interestingly, I noticed that the bees would fly away from the part of the coral vine where I was focusing my camera on and would not return there as long if I kept focusing there. The auto-focusing system must be sending out light pulses which could be felt by the tiny bees. So, I must have been disturbing what I was trying to capture (observe) in an undisturbed state! This reminded me of the Heisenberg's principle of uncertainty which I had almost forgotten that I had learned in quantum physics a long time ago.

Dirty Pearl
Theoretical results about the Universe suggests that we, like holograms, are made of matter and energy. One may say that from the Universe's quantum physics (black hole theory) perspective.. we 'are' in theory 'holograms' with spacial depth.
Hologram
The term is taken from the Greek words holos (whole) and gramma (message or letter).
Unlike 3-D or virtual reality on a two-dimensional computer display, a hologram is a truly three-dimensional and free-standing image.
Theoretically, holograms could someday be transmitted electronically to a special display device in our home.
The theory of holography was developed over 60 years ago by inventor Dennis Gabor in the year 1947.
The recent development of laser technology made holography possible.

Segal was born in Romania and worked in Berlin, exhibiting with Die Brucke and Der Blaue Reiter, two German expressionist groups. He was also associated with Dada, the Cabaret Voltaire and the Bauhaus.
Expressionist Cubo-Futurism? Quantum Physics?
It's in the Berlinische Gallery in Berlin, on Alte Jakobstraße, Kreuzberg.
In 1935, Erwin Schrödinger devised a famous thought experiment to illustrate the strange world of quantum mechanics that became known as Schrödinger's Cat - a cat is placed in a sealed box with a radioactive particle which would result in the death of the cat if the particle decayed. It is a little-known fact that his original thought experiment used a snail, (he didn't like snails as they ate his hostas), but he decided that a cat would get more sympathy for its apparent predicament inside the closed box, existing in the quantum sense as both alive and dead until the state of the cat can be observed when the box is opened.
In this image, the little snail is thoroughly fed up with having its fate determined by the random decay of a radioactive particle, so it makes an escape at night (when it can't be observed), and spots an error in the derivation of Schrödinger's wave equation (although the snail is a little uncertain about this).
For Macro Mondays theme 'Open'. The equations were used as a backdrop for the tiny box reflected in a sheet of Perspex. The snail's shell was 1cm in length and the image was cropped to span just under 7cm.
No snails were harmed or not harmed in the making of this photograph.

Details of water cooled copper coils as part of the MOLLER Experiment is seen inside the SRF Test Lab at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Va., on Wednesday, May 9, 2024. (Aileen Devlin | Jefferson Lab)
The Measurement of a Lepton-Lepton Electroweak Reaction (MOLLER) experiment proposes to measure the parity-violating asymmetry in electron-electron (Møller) scattering. The measurement will be carried out at Jefferson Laboratory's state-of-the-art accelerator by rapidly flipping the longitudinal polarization of electrons that have been accelerated to 11 GeV and observing the resulting fractional difference in the probability of these electrons scattering off atomic electrons in a liquid hydrogen target. This asymmetry is proportional to the weak charge of the electron, which in turn is a function of the electroweak mixing angle, a fundamental parameter of the electroweak theory. The accuracy of the proposed measurement allows for a low energy determination of the mixing angle with precision on par with the two best measurements at electron-positron colliders.
I took several shots of this barn and I over exposed this intentionally as I was shooting to try to hopefully get an HDR due to the fact that the light was on the side of this barn and pretty shadowed on the front. Of course trying to expose correctly for the barn overexposes everything else. Unfortunately doing an HDR was out because the Indian grass in the foreground was moving from the breeze. There was too much ghosting; thus, an HDR was out.
Though, there has been a question about this photo, that is if I added a brush mark to cause the 'ghost' figure in the doorway of the barn (second door from the left). The figure shows up the most in this particular version of this shot but with that said it showed up in all of them and I took more than a dozen when I had my camera mounted on the tripod. I moved the tripod a few feet to get different compositions and the figure in the door never changed. So no, I did not do anything to manipulate this image to add the ghost figure in the doorway of this barn :) The figure in the door window is on all of the originals.
For the record, I cropped this image in LR and I added my watermark on it in PS. I brought up the clarity and shadows to try to bring out the shadow figure in the doorway but again, the shadow (or ghost?) is there in the photo naturally.
There is some misinformation out there btw about high-key photography. People often say there can be no blacks in high key photography but that is false. On the contrary, if there are no blacks it is just a blown out photograph. High key photography is successful when blacks are retained. www.diyphotography.net/high-key-low-key-or-just-badly-exp...
With that said, I don't think it is all that common to do high-key in landscape work ;-)
*****************************************************************
Kenny Bindle looked over this photo to attempt to solve the mystery of shadow or ghost? on this.
He brought out highlights I believe to display that the bush next to the door has a similar shape as the 'figure' in the window and he has claimed the 'figure' on the door window is due to the bush next to the door causing a reflection on the glass window of the door.
I truly appreciate the kind time he has taken to look at my image!
So I had to come back to this image. I will always be honest if something shows up in my photography that I can't explain and attempt to explain it reasonably if that can be done.
I have been photographing for over 10 years and I majored in science in college. Thus, I believe I have skills to also try to consider and determine what is causing a strange effect in photography. After thinking about this photo more and also having some level of expertise in this area at this juncture, I don't think I agree with Kenny.
If you look at this photo the light is coming from the back of this barn. You can see on the top left side the barn is overexposed due to the fact this photo was taken at about 4 pm in the winter that is when the sun is low in the sky and it is on the opposing side of this barn. So it can not be that the sun is casting a shadow on the bush in the front of the building because the building totally blocks the direct light from the sun to the front of the barn. The sun would have to be behind that bush (in front of the barn) to cast a shadow and it can be seen that is not the case based on where the sunlight is directed in the back of the barn in this image. I do see that the bush does appear to have a similar shape but based on how shadows and light work, it can not be there is a shadow from the bush cast on the front of that barn. Not the way I see it.
I know Kenny said it is a 'reflection' and that works pretty much the same way, the bush in front of the house would need sunlight on it to cause a reflection. The way the bush is tucked in the corner close to the building it is blocked from being exposed to light. Therefore, you can see clearly there is no light on that bush at all. Without light to reflect unto the bush there can be no reflections caused by it as far as I know.
So it is up to viewers to form their own opinion if the shadow in the window of the barn has yet to be explained. So far, I personally don't think so.

The LHC is a machine of extreme hot and cold. When two beams of protons collide in the underground tunnel of this machine, they will generate temperatures more than 100 000 times hotter than the heart of the Sun,( much warmer than San Diego today ;-D ) concentrated within a minuscule space. By contrast, the 'cryogenic distribution system', which circulates superfluid helium around the accelerator ring, keeps the LHC at a super cool temperature of -271.3°C (1.9 K) – even colder than outer space!
~ So i plan to enter this tunnel secretly to keep cool toooo ~ ;-D ~

'Every Thing Is Different'
Speak only ten minutes with a quantum physicist and you know that you know nothing.
Where you are and also where you go, is that what you see is not what you think it said. The reality that you believe in is just to see what you can. Nothing is what you think it is, nothing is firm yet everything seems to be real, if we focus our attention on it. All that is left is to pretend as if our reality, the absolute, as we did not know that we do not know. Maybe we look at the big, cracked hologram and it may eventually prove to someone that things will still be there, if we just do not focus our attention on it. Say once a few minutes with a quantum physicist..
.. but until he comes and has something new to report, I enjoy this beautiful work of electrons, quarks, baryons as it is and as I particularly like. - Do you also what you see?

* In Chinese painting, the color violet represents the harmony of the universe because it is a combination of red (yang) and blue (yin).
Parapsychology
* Psychics who claim to be able to observe the aura with their third eye report that those who are practicing occultists (magickal thaumaturgists) often have a violet aura. It is said that people with violet auras are forward looking visionaries who may be in occupations such as performance artist, photographer, venture capitalist, astronaut, futurist, or quantum physicist.
Religion
* Violet is the liturgical color of Advent and Lent in many western churches.
* The Invocation of the Violet Flame is a system of meditation practice used in the "I AM" Activity and by the Church Universal and Triumphant. It is believed to be invoked from Saint Germain and practicing it is part of these religions' devotion to Saint Germain.
