It's not all birds and mammals here of course.

This enormous snake is a well known resident, and it didn't take our guide long to track him down beneath a hedgerow.

Albino Python at Sesame Place with Jack Hanna

Fun Fact - Jack Hanna was bit by a constrictor in the 70's. All different snakes of the constrictor kind take at least 30 minutes to relax their jaws enough to release after biting down.

This coastal carpet python ( Morelia spilota mcdowelli) had been in this pool filter inlet for a week. The pool owner wanted to tturn the filter on, so I removed the snake and made sure it was OK. I released the snake a few metres away in a tree. The next day the snake was back in the pool filter inlet.

Benin. West Africa.

Ouidah

In most parts of the world snakes are feared, but in Benin they are revered. Royal pythons are worshiped in Benin, especially in Ouidah. The good news is that royal pythons are not dangerous, but the bad news is that these sacred reptiles are welcome Beninese households where they are fed when the doors of the temple are opened at night. There is no fear when the locals welcome these slithering pythons into their living rooms like an honoured guest.

The Temple of Pythons is a small room of twelve square meters that houses 50 adult royal pythons.
